First off this all an assumption, but imagine if it was true!
So I'm looking at the post from playhearthstone on Twitter today. It reads "aarg, who be flying to hear what HS be having in store" and it has a picture of the bird with a pirate hat on.
So that was the clue for the upcoming announcement today... is there a possibility that a new mechanic will be released with this expansion has Flying!?
In MTG when a creature had flying, only other flying minions can attack(block) one another.
If they did introduce something similar, would it be good or bad for the game? For all you older MTG players what did you think about the flying mechanic? Is this something you would enjoy for HS, a minion that can only attack other minions if it had the same keyword on it? What do you guys think? Ohhh the possibilities! Let's hear your ideas and opinions down below. GL HF
In HS you can already directly attack your opponent so what advantage would flying give you? Minions with flying can only be attacked by other minions with flying? If so then those minions have to be extremely weak because they force other decks to add answers in forms of minions or spells that they wouldn't normally use.
I highly doubt this will ever happen due to flavour reasons. It would not make much sense to have cards that obviously fly without the Flying keyword. (Flying Machine, Jeweled Macaw, and 9000 others...)
Anything able to bypass Taunts, even if weak, would became delivery mechanisms for buffs, so it would immediately make Blessing of Kings and other such buffs more powerful. And of course Priest OTK would be huge.
Letting flying creatures attack over taunt should do the trick.
This would be really cancerous since paladin has cards like Blessing of Kings that would turn these small minions into extreme threats which if you can't answer them will literally lose you the game in a matter of a few turns.
In a game where defense gets an advantage, tools that let you bypass defense makes sense, such as Trample or Flying.
In a game where offense already has an advantage and we're arguing over interactivity, you are adding tools to further avoid interactivity.
Seriously, what would be the BENEFIT of HS to add the ability to bypass taunts and hit the face? Wouldn't that mean the only real benefit of flying cards are to go to the face and force players to carry cards specifically made to stop them? Do we want more flappy birds, but unstoppable without specific 'hate' cards?
Trample is about as bad if we're putting it as a major feature. It's, again, simply a 'kill this or DIE' card. Another flappy bird. We need more complex things than that.
Again, these things are made for a game where it's easy for offense to have a disadvantage, so adding in cards like flying or trample allow for actual Threats that can't be just blocked forever and a day. They create win conditions that the game needs to shake things up.
In a game where it's HARD to interact and defend, we need the opposite: more cards that create alternatives to 'me go face' and cards with alternative uses to create tactical choices and decisions. To be blunt, think more Shadowverse in your inspiration rather than MTG (like Rush).

Yup. That's pretty much it.
Trample is the other keyword that hearthstone could incorporate but won't, since the community at large dispises face damage.
Anger is the punishment we give ourselves for someone else's mistake.
I mentioned flying mechanic months and months ago. Don't be trying to steal my ideas! O.o
Your idea? It is a magic's idea, not your.
Ummm... bypassing Taunt perhaps?...
Magic the Gathering "mentioned" it years ago.... and implemented it...
You are hardly the first with this idea...
I think a better one would be leap, able to leap over taunts would be interesting.
If you are in your first year of playing please read this post.
Dust does not burn a hole in the jar. Be careful what you craft, especially before and right after a rotation.
But mine for HS!
Yes and I referred to that when I brought it up months and months ago. But my idea for HS!

You mean the mechanic that you encounter in the tutorial against Cho?
Dibbity don't touch that!

That's Incredible!
Not gonna happen ever.

Let's not make Hearthstone the same as MtG please.
