tldr; I have Zoolock, Spell Hunter, and Token Druid. Should I craft Deathrattle Hunter, or Secret Hunter AND Odd Paladin, or save my 5600 dust for the next expansion?
I somehow made it to Legend (I swear it was an accident), but now I'd like to try and maintain this with another grind starting in a few days. I solely used Zoolock in my climb, and since the nerf I have played a bit of Spell Hunter and a few games of Token Druid - pending what the meta is telling me for the day.
I was all set to craft Deathrattle Hunter as it was performing extremely well, but looked like a lot of fun - but in the last 4-5 days the meta shift has really hurt it and it's barely a Tier 2 deck right now. Both my Spell Hunter and Secret Hunter (1800 dust craft) are well outperforming it.
I'm rather new to the game, so I still don't have a complete grasp on how the meta shifts or how I should read it for crafting purposes. Being about 10 days post-nerf I'm expecting that it's somewhat settled and will likely stabilise til the new expansion is released?
If I go with Secret Hunter I will have enough dust remaining to also craft Odd Paladin. While I <3 the concept of Deathrattle Hunter, and really enjoy Secret/Spell Hunter, I pretty much hate the idea of Odd Paladin (or anything Baku or Genn related because they're so damn annoying to play against). Having said that, I hated Druid until I crafted Token Druid and developed an understanding of the deck.
So I'm hoping for some advice on which way to go, as I'm mainly F2P, gold & dust don't come easily. I could keep chipping away with my Zoolock, Spell Hunter, and Token Druid decks if need be - but would like at least one more top performing deck so I can hopefully keep on top of the meta.
I don't get the point: you are already at legend, and owning already more than one legend-worthy decks. What's the purpose of crafting more?
1 month before new expansion and as F2P.
The obvious answer is save dust.
Thanks for your reply. Didn't think it was obvious, or I wouldn't have posted. Spell Hunter was a great surprise to see come back to the meta in the last few days, and Token Druid hasn't performed greatly for me, but now seems to be back after the nerf. I guess I'm thinking that I don't really have a collection of decks that are "tournament worthy" so to speak.
I actually put some thought into this thread looking for advice from the community from those who have played this game for a few years....and I get jack shit.
Yet if I'd created a thoughtless thread complaining about something stupid you lot would be all over it and it'd be up to page 5 by now!

LoL, whining in your own thread. Hearthpwn community is really not to blame for everything that is wrong in your life...

See what I mean. Awesome community this is if the only way to get a response is from people complaining about your whining.....

I am sorry for my previous post...you are right and the community is really evil. You should be praised for creating a magnificent thread such as this one!
should i craft the best deck in the game ??? ofc you should lol
Depends which deck that is you're referring to - in all honesty. Odd Paladin was seemingly out of the game before the nerf but right at this minute is at the top of the meta charts (but that's only been a week or two). Before the nerf Deathrattle Hunter seemed obvious, but it's currently performing worse than Spell Hunter and Secret Hunter which seems a little odd to me as you won't see either of those at a HCT tournament event.
I'm asking the questions because I don't have the experience of going through several expansions and understanding how fluid the meta is. Was hoping to avoid a mistake such as spending all my dust on a deck(s) that are performing well right now, but will likely soon be not up to scratch.
Well if you want to have a full tournament set you want to have decks with at least 3 classes. So the answer might be Oddpala. So you have a Hunter, a Druid, a Warlock and a Pala.
But if you ask for my personal favorite what to craft: go for a Dragonmindblast-Priest (I went from 5 to 2 without a lose) or play the Resurrectpriest with Malygos and Velen (but u might not have enough dust for that maybe). Its way worse vs aggro and hunter, but not an instalose vs Druid and Oddwarrior.

Thank you for your feedback Shroominator, really appreciate it! I only have a bit over 5500 dust and so the decks I referred to potentially crafting are decks that I am close to having all the cards for already. Unfortunately Control Priest (I think that's what you were referring to) is a lot more expensive for me to craft, and just looking at it's WR in Legend it doesn't look good sadly :( Resurrect Priest is also out of my reach as I don't have any of those legendaries. Thank you though! :D
Alternatively I could craft Subject 9 and have a complete Secret Hunter, then Floop and have a complete Scavenger Token Druid then save the rest of the dust. It's difficult right now to determine whether they'll be good long term crafts, and whether the Strongshell Druid w/ Floop will be the better Token Druid alternative - it sure seemed to be before the Giggling nerf.
If u want an ez time climbing now craft Deathrattle Hunter best deck in the current meta otherwise wait
That was exactly what I thought too and why I was saving up to craft it - but since the nerf both Spell and Secret Hunter have gone above it to Tier 1 @ Legend rank while DR Hunter is down around 51% WR. It's hard for me to justify that craft now when I already have Spell and can have Secret for only 1800 dust.
So yeah, that put the entire flow of the meta into question for me as DR Hunter was wrecking it for a while there. Hence me asking for advice. Thanks for your input mate :D
If I were you I would hold on the dust considering:
1) New expansion is here within a few weeks
2) Rotation is here in 6 months
3) You already have couple of competitive decks
+ You are F2P
But if you feel those decks will bring a joy to you, craft them afterall. Because fun should matter the most.
Really great advice there thanks TripleTwenty - some very good points. I think DR Hunter should be right off the list as a result. But now I'm thinking Floop for Strongshell Token Druid and Subject 9 for Secret Hunter. Would only be 3400 dust in total, will save rest for new expansion, and will have another two current tier 1 decks. I've been playing Token without Floop, but I think he's really important for say a bonus Strongshell or Saronite.
Best thing about those cards is they're Boomsday legendaries and they should have good craft value (I think?)
So I'm thinking 50/50 save everything or craft the above.
The forum can be pretty slow, I wouldn't worry about it.
As far as crafting, metas like this are always shifting. I wouldn't craft something just based on the current meta. If it's a good deck it'll work out in such a diverse meta. Deathrattle hunter was looking like the best deck in the game, so everyone started playing aggro again because control and combo struggle with it. Secret hunter is very anti aggro and odd pally is good at playing most other aggro decks so that is why you're seeing them back (odd pally also really hated giggling inventor, that card hurt them really badly). I wouldn't look at win rate percentages too much though epsecially if you don't have the hsreplay premium thing so you can see the winrate at upper ranks.
Basically, Deathrattle hunter is probably the best deck out of your options, and it' fun to play. If you want to add me you're welcome to try it out (or odd pally / secret hunter). Who knows how the meta is going to look soon though with the new expansion.
As far as token druid, ever since the giggling nerf I don't like the strongshell as much. I've went back to the violet teacher lists that don't run floop and it's performing pretty well. the strongshell token deck is still about as good though and Floop is one of the best crafts you can make that isn't classic since it'll be in standard long and has so much potential for multiple druid decks.
