Is it because it is shiny and new? I can't seem to think of any other reason, but that begs another question; why do new cards seem to not always get considered for nerfs first?
Imo Aviana didn't need the nerf since Juicy Psychmelon was the busted tutor card that drew entire combos. Aviana decks never achieved consistent tier 1 status in wild before the melon's release.
I'm completely baffled why T5 wants this epic card to be left alone and to remain in the game so badly considering that from here on out 7+ mana druid minions will have to forever tiptoe around the design of this terribly busted tutor card.
Can anyone enlighten me as to why T5 doesn't seem to want to nerf this card instead?

The only reason I can think of, is because in any other deck, Juicy Psychmelon is not good and doesn't see play. Otherwise, idk, T5 logic.
I have quit this game and fully moved over to MTGA, but these are the posts that keep me coming back. I don't know why I enjoy your suffering but I do. Maybe it's because I know how shit this game is and will continue to be as it always has been. Maybe I just lack any pity for anyone who is willing to continue to support this game despite better options existing and to be excited for. How about instead of questioning why Team 5 continues to lack any design sense or care for what players like you think, you go try MTG instead?
I mean surely there is something there you will like. Do you like dragons? Zombies? Dinosaurs? Pirates? Merfolk? There is something there for everyone. I liked rogue a lot in Hearthstone, so I naturally gravitated toward the rogues in magic and playing tricky cards. I built a black and blue surveil deck on my own and have been winning. In magic, everything feels so open to exploration that I don't feel tied down to any card in the game like I did in Hearthstone where some things were just objectively better. It's been a blast for a casual card player like myself who just enjoys creating and seeing the magic unfold.
Not to mention the card quality is insane and Wizards has had 25+ years to learn from their mistakes. They seem pretty open to it as well and it's continually becoming clearer that whoever has designed these cards deeply loves playing magic themselves. As opposed to team 5 where it feels like none of these people actually play hearthstone.
I can't give you any answers for why Blizzard does what they do. Maybe it's growing pains? Maybe it's just that they don't care. Whatever the case. It's not something Blizzard will answer and that alone is reason to quit this game.

Why nerf Juicy Psychmelon when it is used in only few wild decks and sees no play in Standard? By nerfing Aviana they just made your 3 cards combo a 4 card combo and you have to wait till you draw Aviana, seems a good balance to me, also Aviana nerf instantly nerfs the value you gain from Psychmelon atleast I can see they tried nerfing a wild card rather than nerfing a Standard card that doesn't see play and maybe let players figure out a usage for the card in the times to come. If you have something old that you know what it does and you just got something new and you didn't figure out but you had to make some changes what would you change? (remember, those changes can always be reverted , tho we're talking of Hearthstone so its kinda improbable)

Still in the same boat with maly druid. Instead of Aviana and Maly switching, it’s going to be with Aviana and Kun. Before psychmelon, maly druid was nuts with all the overpowered druid cards like wild growth, branching paths, and spreading plague. Instead of relying on cards like nourish and UI to draw, they just have to play psychmelon and wait until turn 10. The Aviana nerf to 10 mana now requires combo druid to use innervate which if you think about it is huge. But still, psychmelon drawing specific cards is bonkers.

Nice analysis.
Perhaps it's worthwhile recalling that there hasn't been a Tier 1 Standard Druid deck on HSReplays for over a year. Juicy Psychmelon has a 2% play-rate in Standard Druid (0.4% overall), with a played win-rate slightly above 40%. While I would have been happy with a nerf (I play about 200 Wild games each month, and don't really play much Standard), after the Aviana nerf tomorrow, it isn't obvious that Melon will see any further play in the format - in the most recent VS Wild report, the win-rates of the different flavours of Melon Druid were already only slightly better than 50% (overall, near the bottom of Tier 2), despite lots of people who have never played the format shitting themselves about how OP those decks are.
To answer the OP's question - like a lot of other folks on HS social media, he's convinced himself that Druid is far more powerful than it actually is. Wild has been absolutely dominated by Odd and Even decks since WW launched - those decks have win-rates 5%-8% higher than the best Druid decks in the format, and play-rates more than double.
Dog had a 50+ game win-streak in Wild - FWIW, he wasn't playing Druid . . .
It is important to treat the disease and not just a sympton, so the question is: Is Aviana the disease, or is Psychmelon the disease? Personally I think Aviana is more of a problem than Psychmelon in the long run, and I don't see a need to hit two cards right now. It's possible that nerfing Aviana fixes the problem and Juicy Psychmelon wasn't really the problem after all.
Aviana was definitely an issue. Togwaggle Druid was one of the best decks in the format before Star Aligner came along and took that spot, while Maly was played a whole lot too. All of those decks continually shut down control decks unless you tech double rat and get lucky on your pulls or are playing some warrior/druid deck with tons of armor gain in which case Tog still screws you over. It's just like Quest Rogue or Giants Warlock. Nobody enjoys being highrolled, having absolutely no chance at winning a match the second it starts just due to the matchup, or relying on two layers of RNG (drawing rat and removal, pulling a key minion with it) to stand a chance. Aviana got nerfed because it warped the meta too much, even before Juicy was added.
To be honest I don't play wild I just thought subjectively as a Standard player : "Why should there be changes to Standard if the problem is in Wild format?"
It's also probably about money. I would imagine they want to avoid nerfing their latest expansion at all costs, because they are still trying to sell that in large quantities.

Some leaders of Team 5 have a boner for Druid. There have been hints of this dropped in different interviews over time.
It's not healthy for the game, but that doesn't mean much when egos are involved.
Druid can never have weaknesses. Druid must always be competitive.
Because they don't want to admit this card should've never been printed.

Or Lunara...
Greetings, traveler.
Let's make Hunter great.
Maybe because they have plans for Juicy Psychmelon in future expansions

Third Aviana confirmed.

Maybe there will be some counter card that shuffles bad 7, 8, 9, and 10-cost minions into your opponent's deck.

I think it is because Melon is not problematic in Standard (yet).
The problem was in Wild only, and Aviana was the best target after Melon.

I don't think i've EVER seen that card played in ranked this entire month, or even before that honestly.
