Not really. I personally find it oddly interesting that people combine this complaint that hearthstone is mindless and requires no thought with this desire to decrease the turn timer, making it impossible to actually plan and think. To me, speed play works in games like chess because you can memorize much of the game and err.. movesets. So speeding is a practice of how much of the game is built into your muscle memory.
The more complicated parts of hearthstone involve thinking OUT of the normal routine. When the plan your deck is designed for goes astray due to your opponent or RNG, or when the matchup means your primary strategy won't work. Then you have to plan ahead, scout out weaknesses that RNG or misplays leave in your opponent's plans, and work out probabilities to find the best routes of risk taking. Muscle memory and pre-planning actively work against you in those incidences.
While I mostly play casually, I DO come across such situations, and during those times I find myself roping about as bad as the pro players. Those 70 seconds just barely feels like enough time to get a handle of the situation and figure out what to do.
So 'fast games' really doesn't encourage fast strategy thinking. Instead it encourages gameplay focused purely on 'going by the books'. You play your deck as the instructions say and don't analyze beyond that since you'll just screw up through second guessing without a deep analysis. Which means you MUST run decks that have polarized matchups and just accept wins and losses without trying to tweak them.
All of that doesn't even get into mobile phones in which many tend to get laggy and thus need the entire turn just to play your moves.
I'm not against more modes. We need more and moar is always good IMO. But those who grumble about the game being '100% luck based' will want to steer clear of the mode as will anyone with a phone or a slow computer.
Instead, each player, in their own personal options, can select 1.5X, 2X, 3X, 4X speed. Then the actual match plays at the slower of the two players' individual selections.
If both players like it fast, let them have it.

Anger is the punishment we give ourselves for someone else's mistake.
No, but I would play a game mode that had optional class bans and didn't reward gold.
Almost like some sort of mode where you could customize games with, for example, 8 players. The players could face each other in best-of-5 (or 3?) matches for the right to move on to the next round. Against each opponent, you could ban one of their classes. You could call this mode, oh I don't know...maybe "Tournament Mode" or something like that. Just an idea. Sounds way too difficult to implement for a small indie company O_o
edit: Yes, I know this should go in one of the MANY threads that already exist on Tournament Mode's sudden demise. I just couldn't resist however. You may dole out my punishment as you see fit.

It sure is easy to spitball bad ideas (see this week's brawl for an example). People, of course, realize that doubling the number of modes doubles the matchmaking time, right? The 'match me with the same options' would multiply this by a huge amount (better nuke a hot pocket while waiting for a 4x). If they are going to add a new mode that it time-based, it should be chess clock - you explode after X minutes of cumulative turn time. Of course, that would just be an aggro fiesta, fun times, right? Go back to the drawing board with your armchair developer suggestion.
We on the Hearthstone team have been working on a "speed" mode for Hearthstone for a few years. Unfortunately it just didn't live up to our standards and even though we know releasing it would please some of you, we have decided to please no one. Also no you can't see it but rest assured it was very real and we would never just go on the internet and lie.
Don't be too sad though. You can buy the Bundle Up Bundle on sale now for a limited time. You can also celebrate the death of tournament hopes and dreams with a Welcome Bundle, again! But that's not all you have to look forward too, the new Paladin hero will be out soon, and what better way to give back to our loyal audience than putting him behind a paywall!
While we might not be providing you new ways to play our game or delivering on years old promises, you can rest assured that we are always working on new ways to separate you from your cash. Thanks for reading! See you at rank 50!

That's not possible,
how can you do something like this? That's not logic.
Players in this game are horrendously slow. I only realized this after getting the hsreplay tracker. On average, I take 2 to 3x less time in my turns than the other player, regardless of the deck I or them is using. Short games, long games, control or aggro decks, it doesn't matter. I am consistently the faster player and it frustrates the heck out of me. While it does happen, it is rare that I need to use the full rope length.
So yes, some way of implementing quicker turns would be very appreciated.

One does not simply walk into Mordor,
unless they want to be the best they can be.
No. New. Game. Modes.
