Well, I've never heard about intelligent people being more developed emotionally so I'll concede to that. This said, even though people with high intelligence are able to think more logically, they can just easily ignore their own logic at will. How a person chooses between making rational or emotional decisions is not a function of intelligence
Just look at Elon Musk tanking his stock value these past months. Remember his twitter war with the pedo Thai divers? That's anger, not logic. Pot shenanigans? Not a very logical decision either, though I'm sure he had fun
As for "breaking the bonds", that was just poorly worded :P What you posted is exactly what I was trying to say, albeit perhaps too poetically
Smart people make dump decisions because logic is a part of the intelligence as are emotions, plus they are not free form the chains of their subconsciousness either. The misconceptions that most people have are the following:
Logic= Intelligence
Emotions= Urges/subconscious
And are both wrong. Well at least this is what our current data show. Even anger is something that we consciously create when of our personal desires or premises of what is truth and fair are challenged. The urge to harm what makes us angry is not the same with the emotion itself though. As to why things are as they are...well we do not know yet for sure. The dominant theory is that emotions help us find a purpose and logic is the tool to achieve it. As for our subconscious appears to be a byproduct/remnant of evolution.
Anyway I suggest you google and see the latest documentaries and certified papers on the subject. From our conversation i am sure you will enjoy them.
Excuse me Mr. Nightcrawl3r, but please, you know me, you know I would say absolutely anything that comes to my mind in order to try to win a discussion with certain kind of people in this forum (after all, I love BMing, do you remember? :P). I had won, and now you come here to destroy everything I had achieved.
Why do you do this to me Nightcrawl3r? Why?
To be totally honest, I was waiting for another chump to show up and take the bait presented in your previous post. No one showed up so I had to take action. This topic is too good to die
Honestly, I could listen to you talk for days. Impressed to find you have some knowledge of creatures like this, especially given your username and avatar. You live up to your projected personality/identity, which is nice to understand.
I always wanted to know exactly what an avatar says about the personality of the person using it, especially in an internet forum. I have some theories, but never found a good scientific analysis about it on the internet (because let's be real, the internet is amazing, but it's also full of shit). Do you know any by chance?
I want very badly to get back to NightCrawler, but I'm a little busy. Seems weird I suddenly have time to respond to something, but for you, Sherman, baby, anything. The name NightCrawler could suggest reference to creatures in the night. We see much of this reference in many fiction pieces and stories. Having picked Hadronox as an avatar and using such a name, one could easily assume a fascination with creatures, like the spider, or the fabled Boogeyman. The fact that NC has knowledge of creatures like ants and dolphins verifies much of my thought, at least in part.
When we pick an avatar, often times, it's something we identify with. What is suggested by your avatar, Sherman, is that you like yourself a strong drink, a chaotic time (maybe), a brutal approach, a strong hand, and a number of other things. With my choice of avatar, one might believe I'm one for grinning at pain. We don't choose an avatar we dislike unless it's something we are attempting to mock or something we are playing a caricature of. It's like how our choice of apparel might suggest something about ourselves as well, our choice of coat, our choice of vehicle. Many factors concerning preference involve all of our lives, but only concern a number of aspects, usually not all.
For example, I once worked for Amazon in a warehouse. A manager of ours looked the type that would love owning a cabin in the woods with a bear skin rug on the floor, a fireplace several feet away from leather chairs. He was a rugged looking gent. I asked him if his preferred drink of choice is scotch, to which he answered yes, explaining that he was surprised. It took only a cursory glance to know this because of how he carries himself. While you might be anonymous online, if you pay enough attention to how someone tends to post, if you think on what their username and avatar could suggest, you might know the anonymous user more than they believe. While you could make guesses about the user, I believe NightCrawler resonates with his name and avatar because of his interest in insects and animals. Obviously a guess, but I can't help but feel I've hit the nail on the head.
I will be back after some time to respond to NightCrawler. The dishes are calling my name.
Honestly, I could listen to you talk for days. Impressed to find you have some knowledge of creatures like this, especially given your username and avatar. You live up to your projected personality/identity, which is nice to understand.
Question: "On the other hand, the mentality to put your society ahead of yourself is instinctual." You said this earlier. I thought survival and putting your safety and general well being was more an instinctual thing. Are both considered as such, and if so, doesn't that mean all of human behavior and reasoning is instinctual? I'm confused on what exactly qualifies in this case, given the fact that I'm currently unsure.
Beautiful commentary, my friend.
Oh, you flatter me :) Though I'm not sure what my username and avatar tells about my personality really
As for bit on instincts, the goal of every species is to reproduce and pass on the best genes to the next generation. This usually involves not dying. Different species achieve this in different ways. Eusocial creatures will sacrifice themselves without question to protect their society, allowing other members in the group to reproduce in their stead. Solitary creatures will preserve themselves above all else, only sometimes with the exception of their own offspring. Most animals are somewhere in between. How much each of these two instincts drives you depends on the species
Being social mammals, humans fall in the last category. Our instincts tell us to be both self preserving and altruistic. However, since we are intelligent it's possible to consciously fight against these instincts if we really want to. Instincts are mostly there to guide lower intelligence creatures that can't work out how to meet their goals at a cognitive level
As mentioned earlier when replying to Sherman, avatars and usernames tend to signal something defining about a person's identity. While users like RavenSunHP and CashMeOut are harder to read, users like you (NightCrawler) tend to be a bit easier to understand, as there are subtle hints given. Again, when you present to us information about ants and dolphins is when it's much easier to form a picture of some kind about the user. Given your username and avatar, I could also easily assume you enjoy Heavy Metal and Horror films, though these are just guesses. I make these guesses, as mentioned earlier, based on the fact that a Night Crawler is usually a creature in the dark that instills fear and can cause pain, death, fleeting terror or paranoia. These themes are explored in Horror films. The use of Hadronox helps bring these thoughts/ideas full circle. On the far and extreme end of this analysis, one might also guess/suggest that you're a Furry. This isn't my thought, but one I understand some will have when they take a lot of this response and try to form ideas on what exactly your private life might look like.
I don't really have much to say to the rest of your comment, considering it's an explanation more than anything. I thought I'd have more to say, but I really don't, so I'll pose a question to you instead. Where do your instincts lie, and would you prefer to have instincts different from your current set?
Gotta admit I'm guilty of BM-ing when playing against decks that beat me earlier that day, it's something I find myself doing sometimes. It's not the fact that I hate a specific deck, but rather the toxic player that spams emotes all the time (which for some reason are usually Hunter and Paladin players, Odd Pally and Mech Hunter respectively) I involuntarily (hopefully I translated this word right, not sure how it's said in English) emote them all the time if it's the same deck I lost to earlier, doesn't matter if I'm winning or losing. Just something weird that I do occasionally

Seems you're curious about the translation/definition of involuntarily. It means "against your will". Thought I'd put this out there, in case you mean to say something else and don't wish to appear different than you're intending.

I meant like, doing something mechanically/automatically/reflexively/without noticing it. I never translated that word from my native language so I have no idea what it is in English lol

I believe a good synonymous term, if not the exact word would be impulsively. Makes sense, though. We all sort of have ourselves partially on auto-pilot based on the task/activity, so I feel ya.

That took me awhile to absorb. I theorized that emotion is what makes people choose illogically but what you're saying is that emotion causes people to take on more abstract goals rather than the obvious ones. Since goals may contradict, the choices seem illogical on the surface. This makes perfect sense
Actually reading up on the topic sounds like a good idea. All of this is just stuff I came up with through idle thinking combined with what I know about animal behaviour

That's surprisingly accurate, especially considering I didn't give the name very much thought when I created it. I was expecting you to succumb to the obvious pitfall of assuming I was named after a specific instance of "many fiction pieces" and make incorrect assumptions based on that. While I did like that my name hinted at creatures of the night, it wasn't meant to be anything specific
From a young age, I was fascinated by all facets of nature. I spent much of my early days watching nature shows and reading books on various creatures. I wasn't picky on the topics I learned about but spiders and serpents always held a special place in my heart. This fixation on biology became more of a passing interest around middle school and I stopped "studying", though the knowledge I gathered still remain and surpases that of the average person
As for horror films, you're partially correct. I enjoy the idea and characters of horror for the reasons you mentioned. However, I don't like classical horror films themselves. Watching unsympathetic idiots run around for hours and getting themselves killed is not something I find very entertaining. What I need in a story is either a character I can bond with or a complex and engaging thriller of a plot. For a period of time, I tried to give the genre a chance but every classic I tried only led to disappointment because they never have either of these. Pieces of fiction that explore horror without wasting time trying to scare the viewer on the other hand, I often find quite enjoyable. If you know the TV show American Horror Story, that's a good example
Heavy Metal? Are you a wizard or do you have access to my youtube browsing history? And what does this have anything to do with avatars and names? Hmm... I recall a time where I chastised a user with the name and avatar of a death metal band for creating an off topic thread in these forms about music and then posting some rap as their first entry. You're not cheating are you? ;)
Fury? Nah
Instincts? I'm afraid I don't follow. Care to elaborate?

I thought JainaIsHot was pretty spot on with their description(s) and explanation(s). Emotion does tend to be a driving force behind a goal. This is where passion concerns itself.
Picking a username like NightCrawler, using that avatar and demonstrating knowledge of insects and animals, there's no way you'd just be interested in scary creatures, which is why making the mistake of picking the name you did for such incorrect reasons as you gave as an example, I would have willfully ignored all the signs, which is not something I'm privy to doing.
I wouldn't suspect you of finding interest in most things about Horror films. Most of Modern Horror films have at best a decent premise, with the characters usually feeling as unperson a fictional character would ever end up, for the focus of the films aren't on the people but the killer or mystery. It's like saying pornographic films and materials have interesting characters. Most don't, but it doesn't mean that they can't have interesting characters. I feel like you'd really enjoy The Hills Have Eyes (2006 release). It's a real keeper. Same with 13 Ghosts and House of Wax.
No Wizard, just someone who understands much of chaos, frailty, emotion and motive. There's a reason I consider myself a Saint of the Church of Madness. The mental is a tasty seasoning, the mind being the delish dish. Dwelling within the void, I often stumble upon secrets that humankind is not ready to accept. The connection between your name (thematic provided) and Heavy Metal deals in the connection that something that goes bump in the night would have with Horror. There are a number of Metal acts that really dig into Horror themes and looking to Horror for inspiration. For example, Blotted Science put out an album a few years back where almost all of the songs written were influenced by Horror films and insects. The video below showcases exactly that.
Speaking of Blotted Science, their album Machinations of Dementia entirely concerns itself with Neuroscience as a theme. Highly suggest giving it a listen if you haven't before. Truly a masterpiece.
I remember you giving that White Chapel fan some sorta special attention over posting a Rap song. It was funny to drink in. Honestly, I don't remember your involvement there until you mentioned it. The only reason I can make these connections so easily is because the signs are too vibrant and existent for me to ignore, and I won't deal you the disservice of wasting your time with lies and bad assumptions.
On the topic of instincts, I mean to ask what your natural instincts are, whether you are one for self sufficiency or serving your community. I imagine you're more likely to confine yourself to a room away from society than to become its pawn, considering your focus and care regarding studying insects and animals.

Perhaps I should give those movies and bands a try if you think I'll like them. You seem to know what I like better than myself lol
Fun fact about that music video: it appears that this is somewhat grounded in science. Before I saw the title, my first thought was that these were time travellers that have gone too far. My thoughts after watching the video and looking at the title was that they got the time period wrong! Cretaceous arthropods are bigger than modern species, but to find ones comparable with the sizes depicted in the video, you'd need to go back further to the late Paleozoic era. That's the block of time before Un'Goro dinosaurs showed up. The Cretaceous period is the last period out of the three that make up the dinosaurs era. Even so, I'm still impressed by the title referencing that this was a thing in the past
As for my drives, I thought it may have become obvious in the last few pages that I'm of the self serving sort. I'm still a productive and helpful member of the human race but that's purely because it's in my own best interests to appear so. In accordance, I would never admit to such things without the anonymity of the internet ... Actually, even with anonymity I wouldn't admit such things in most online communities yet here am I coming out on a children's card game fansite of all things ...
Well I'm picking up priest again, so I have to wow people. It's not BM it's roleplay, wow turn 1, wow coin, wow rope, wow concede :p. Like not spamming the Error Error from Mecha Jarrax.

Now seriously, I consider myself a nice person in general and I'm really surprised by some of the results (except for Machiavellianism, I love that shit :P). Some results seem to belong to someone like Ramsay Bolton, not me, LOL. XD
Damn, it is not my intention to look like an edgelord :( , but I couldn't resist to post this, the results are so funny... Laugh at me people, laugh at me!!! XD

I don't... usually. But I'm compelled to BM when my opponent ropes me or play a very boring deck (especially fatigue decks with no other win condition) that just drags the game out for more than 15 minutes.

I absolutely cannot comprehend how either of you can post these things so openly. The thought of sharing this aspect of myself in such detail with strangers fills me with utter terror and revulsion >.<

Damn, it is not my intention to look like an edgelord :( , but I couldn't resist to post this, the results are so funny... Laugh at me people, laugh at me!!! XD
I absolutely cannot comprehend how either of you can post these things so openly. The thought of sharing this aspect of myself in such detail with strangers fills me with utter terror and revulsion >.<
Being open about something such as this doesn't really have much of an impact. Though it is relevant to human behavior, with BM being relevant to human behavior, I find it somewhat fitting that it was posted here. It can be much easier to be friends with and identify with people when you can see the kind of person they are. When they're open about something like this is when you can value them more as an honest person and less as an anomaly. As it is, if you visit my profile, you'll even see that I've given several backgrounds of information about myself and my passions. I'm used to being open, as I've not much to hide.

I'm instinctively opposed to doing anything that disrupts my image of normalcy, which in my own best interests after all. I suppose it's not relevant with the anonymity of the internet but even so, I find it extremely difficult to break the habit
Smart people make dump decisions because logic is a part of the intelligence as are emotions, plus they are not free form the chains of their subconsciousness either. The misconceptions that most people have are the following:
Logic= Intelligence
Emotions= Urges/subconscious
+1

Yes, I do Bm, all the time.
No, I don't fail BMs.
But why would I BM someone?! Because it's fun and funny to see the opponent's reactions when he adds you in order to flame after the match.
You may call me a sadist... But if you do then you just got triggered... Get my point?

That's the block of time before
Un'Gorodinosaurs showed up. The Cretaceous period is the last period out of the three that make up the dinosaurs era. Even so, I'm still impressed by the title referencing that this was a thing in the pastAs for my drives, I thought it may have become obvious in the last few pages that I'm of the self serving sort.

Dont forget to hero power your opponents face and saying: the light shall burn you also an important aspect of roleplaying

Oh! Indeed! I always forget. Just noticed that the last opponent did add me. Seems my spiteful and Wow triggered him. Sorry big mage dude. The light did burn you.
I don't... usually. But I'm compelled to BM when my opponent ropes me or play a very boring deck (especially fatigue decks with no other win condition) that just drags the game out for more than 15 minutes.
