The Boomsday meta is 20x more diverse than anything we saw in Year of the Mammoth. I'm having a blast with stuff like Lady in White Priest, Deathrattle Hunter, and Even Shaman.
If you're complaining that the meta is stale now, I think its more that you're just bored of the game in general rather than the specific meta. There are no game-breaking decks right now
you may be right about being generally bored of the game, or a combination of things I can't put a finger on it but like others have mentioned just feels the same, not many new cards being used, any deck I try to make that different or utilizes new cards either in standard or would just gets demolished by top tier decks.
Matches seems like a coin toss at times, I play aggro i get matchup with warrior unwinnable, I switch to warrior I get matchup up with togwaggle druid or infinite damage priest/mage
I have all 9 heroes gold, 12 wins arena, been to legend. Nothing really to work towards at all. So for me hearthstone maybe something to hang up for a while I'm sure allot of veteran players feel the same, don't see many streamers on these days or are playing something else
I’m glad there’s someone out there still enjoying the game! Personally, I have a love-hate relationship with hearthstone now. As a huge fan of Control Pally, I’m completely put off by most of the overtuned Combo and anti-Control decks available like Deathrattle Hunter and Quest Rogue (again). Druid decks also feel very strong now with all of their cards being able to draw their combo at a rate where slower decks can’t deal with it. I have been changing and swapping decks around to try and combat the meta, mainly using Token Druid and Warlock to try and climb. If aggro becomes too prominent while ranking, I pop out my Exodia Pally and have some fun.
Overall, I would like Combo decks to have some form of neutral disruption besides The Lich King. Also, the Deathrattle problem could persist where they generate too much value way too early to combat fairly.
There's gotta be more people out there like me. Barring a few matchups (mostly quest rogue vs control), every matchup feels winnable. Two seasons ago, I made legend with a mix of Deathrattle hunter and odd rogue (before Boomsday). Last season I made it almost exclusively with Deathrattle hunter. And this month I made it almost exclusively with tempo mage. There were no matches at all that were completely unwinnable from the start in my climb. I even somehow managed a 50% win rate against odd warrior with my mage. I know that I was lucky here, but still.
Why do people hate everything so much? I know there's a few people here who want to do unspeakable things to Artifact when it comes out, but I could not care less about that game. I don't even face that many druids, and people continue to go crazy about how powerful they are (maybe I'm a bit lucky here, although I'm not all that scared of them). Do people just want a meta where they know from the start that they won the game? Do they want a meta where there's lots of viable decks? If yes to question 1, play quest rogue I guess. If yes to question 2, play literally almost anything else. Yes, there are strong decks and weak decks. But guess what. That's how card games work - there will always be some cookie-cutter decks that are a step above the rest. Adapt and beat them, or stay behind and cry I guess.
I just don't understand the mini-outrage from the people who hate that Blizzard said they are "happy with the meta". I'm only talking about the meta here, I don't care about the new cards (which are terrible, yes, but so what). I don't care about the new skin which obviously ruins f2p players' experience (kappa). I'm just wondering why people are so upset about where the game is right now.
Most of the people complaining are more than likely burned out, but they pin their unhappiness with the game on the meta. Like you said, the meta is pretty good. All classes are playable, all archetypes are playable, and most matchups are winnable. When people are unhappy with a meta like this, they're looking for something new, and the Boomsday, while I like it, did not shake things up much, which "burns out" people who have invested a lot of time and money in the game. These are the same type of people that frequent forums, so we get a very skewed outlook on community "consensus" on the state of the game. My tip to those people is simply take a break. If they're so unhappy with the meta, playing more HS is not going to make things any better.
I myself have climbed to legend in wild with secret hunter, fatigue warrior, and even shaman, while climbing to rank 1 in standard with midrange shaman, mech inner fire priest, mecha'thun warrior and even shaman. None are the "oppressive" decks people complain about, nor are they the "brain dead" decks people complain about, yet I did just fine and had a lot of fun getting there. It's mostly a mentality thing.
However, I 100% agree with the grievance of combo vs control matchups. There needs to be neutral disruption. The game is a matchup coin flipping simulator for control deck enthusiasts, and that's not fair an entire archetype.
What I hate the most are people two weeks into a new meta and screaming ; stale ,stale stale.
I bet most of them didn’t even played more than two decks. Like you said , they are more likely burned out. I always try to make something work, without netdecking. Wich is very possible in this meta.
But yeah, also B,Kibler mentioned yesterday , that the differences procentage wise in Control vs Combo is too high. I wish they made a way to interact with opponents okt decks.
Stuck in WW ? Nobody plays combo Shudderwock these days.
that is the main problem, yes, we are stuck in witchwood and got one new card to play with (giggling inventor) - btw shudder is a really good deck against all these druids ;)
Yes Shudderwock Shaman is a really good deck against control but I have faced more Spiteful Druid and Cubelock than Shudderwock Shaman after Boomsday. I don't think many people are playing it.

I think Un'Goro meta was just as diverse as Boomsday. Then, KFT came and Druids started centralizing the meta.
This is the first meta I've enjoyed in a long time... Never had the urge to grind to Legend before but I'm going for it this month. It's the first time I feel like the "rock, paper scissors" / "control / aggro / combo" style of meta has been in play.
My main decks have been Mecha'Thun Priest (climbed to rank 5 with this) and Deathrattle Hunter (Climbed to rank 2 with this) and I'm having a blast.
i am not rly happy with the meta, but also not disapointed. I just play some games, it's fine, sitting at rank3 5 stars atm. The thing i don't really like is, that so many of the boomsday legendaries turned out to be not really playable, besides memes. And also i feel like the best decks are either, get a bunch of stats on the board, or control the board as good as you can. Just a pile of stats, no cool iteractions. Just stats and deathrattles that gets you even more stats. Magnetic upgrades also do the same thing. I find this highly uninteresting. Also i am disapointed by the legendary spells. You have to build your deck arround them and even then none of them was really good. Only the rogue quest is kinda good in odd rogue, a deck i ve played 1000 times against.

Imo current meta so great. Every class have 1 or 2 (at least) playable decks. For some it's not so good - u don't have deck with amazing winrate for climbing. I remembered highlander (razakus) priest, cubewarlocks and tempomage meta; I remembered the "I on charge now" and 3x Keleseth rogue too. How saw some pro players "Good winrate - 59% for 5k games" and now its really possible
It's just BORING right now. I don't even hardly play outside of breaks and lunch at work. When I'm at home in the evening or weekends I play other games cause I don't feel like logging onto HS at all! Too much rock/paper/scissors, too much OTK. Here we are on the 19th of the month as I type this and I've only gone from rank 10 to rank 9. That's how little I've played. As it stands I'm at the point of walking away from HS. No decision made yet but just feel that way right now.
Stale!? Is this thread full of salty noobs? Does anybody remember the cancer meta that was Pirate Warrior? It was either that or counter that. The meta is full of great decks. IDK, but it sounds like aggro players are tired of playing Odd Rouge and Odd Paladin and tired of facing Odd Warrior. Or folks are mad that there isn’t an auto win deck and instead you have to actually build a balanced deck.
Honestly if you are a control or combo player... the meta has never been so diverse. Most of the time it takes a few turns to figure out what deck you’re playing. Sure I like expacs to have super OP cards but I really like that the last two have been power check expacs. It’s brave on Blizzard’s part, and now the game has somewhere to go while also have a balanced base.
The meta is good, in Standard some druid and warlock cards need to be nerfed because is too powerful, in Wild druid need to be completely destroyed with 200 cards nerfed to the ground to never be able to ruin the format again.
I agree that the meta is really diverse right now - perhaps more so than at any other point in time. The list of viable decks include in my opinion:
Maly Druid, Togwaggle Druid, Mecha'thun Druid, Token Druid, Quest Rogue, Odd Rogue, Odd Pally, Odd Warrior, Evenlock, Healzoo, Controllock, Mecha'thun Warlock, DR Hunter, Secret Hunter, Tempo Mage, Mecha'thun Priest, Resurrect Priest, APM Priest, perhaps even Shudderwock Shaman.
However, while there are a lot of different decks (and archetypes) which are playable, I can definitely understand the frustration of players: pick any of those decks above and play some ladder games ... most of the games you are either the favourite by a huge margin (say quest rogue vs any control/non combo) or clearly the underdog (e.g. any combo deck vs control lock). Basically the only exceptions to this are the midrange decks like DR Hunter (which might not be enjoyable to play for all players). Thus, most of the time the outcome of the match is solely determined by deck choice and not by the ability of the player.
I personally enjoy games the most where I can win by outplaying my opponent. That is, I'd rather have a lot of balanced matchups (e.g. 40/60 to 60/40) which are at least to some extent winnable than matchups where I will autowin/autolose more or less by default.
So while we do have a diverse meta, this does not automatically imply that the meta is also good. Also, I do not really think that this RPS-meta can be solved simply by nerfing some cards. Including a neutral combo breaker could be a first step. However, this could also lead to a pure control-meta (which I wouldn't mind personally). I guess we will have to wait what the next expansion(s) bring.
^ this. There are a lot of options for decks (good), but so many of the options are 85/15 matchups, not 60/40 (bad). So, you end up with ~50% winrates due to the variety of decks, but most matchups are blowouts one way or another. To me, this is boring.

Or folks are mad that there isn’t an auto win deck and instead you have to actually build a balanced deck.
On the other hand, a meta where there are only a few decks dominating can lead to a more skill-based counter meta. In the Pirate Warrior days, you could build a deck just to beat that and have reasonable success. You could build a control deck and only feel bad 1/4 of the time when you queued into a combo deck.
In the current meta where there are supposedly up to 18 different decks in Tiers 1 and 2 (assuming every class is viable and has at least two different decks), you just pick anything and hope you get good matchups. Oh and don't bother with control...sometimes you'll face aggro, but sometimes you'll face other control decks, and the win condition isn't fatigue anymore, it's "are you running an OTK finisher?"

Control is dead, courtesy of combo Druids, Deathstalker Rexxar, and Mechathun. I'll say it again, diversity and balance aren't synonymous.
Lastly, it's really unproductive to simply dismiss players with legitimate concerns as "salty noobs." Be better than that.
Well I made this post yesterday and got all busy last night, so I couldn't really chime in. It's good to see that some other players do enjoy the game as well. I obviously knew this was the case because, well, the game is still huge lol.
I did not mean to imply that "the meta is diverse; therefore it is good". I really more meant that every match feels winnable (outside of playing control vs combo decks). I do love to play control decks, but I've kinda shied away from that this expansion simply because of the OTK possibilities and Quest Rogues. I used to always hate on aggro decks too, but I've started to dabble in them. There's lots of different aggro-midrange decks you can play.
I do agree that the game can be troublesome if you exclusively play control decks, but I do believe there are enough aggro or midrange decks that you can play. There should be a deck for everyone in those archetypes. That's where the "diversity" is really nice. You can play secret or midrange hunter, spiteful decks are making a comeback, tempo mage, deathrattle hunter, even or zoo warlock, even shaman, odd rogue, token druid. All of these decks are very powerful in the meta, and don't really have any of those polarizing "rock-paper-scissors" matchups. I guess odd rogue and zoolock can have trouble against some control decks sometimes, but even then, you can eke out a win with some luck.

You lost me at tempo mage
I can't really say much but to be honest, I'm just satisfied with the current situation. Doesn't matter if my winrate is bad, I'm still happy with it.
