I started in the MSoG meta. Don't remember about the first day in particular, but once I got to rank 20 with a terrible mage deck, I met a barrage of Jade Druids and despaired at how I could ever beat such a deck! Also, having no prior knowledge about the game, I didn't know what rarities were. I opened a golden Ancient of Lore, and marvelled at the card in my collection, thinking that it had to be the rarest type of card in the game! Look how it moved and sparkled! Put it in all druid decks, and somehow never felt like a strong card. ;)
My only TCG experience before hearthstone was Order & Chaos from gameloft. You had to sacrifice cards to gain mana, and your hand automatically refilled to 6 cards after your turn.
So on day one, my first impressions were:
1) "I only get three cards to start? that's lame"
2) "where do I sacrfice my cards? HOW AM I GOING TO GET MANA?!?!?!" and
3) "why isn't my hand refilling?"
It took me a long time to break the bad habits that O&C taught me.
Oh man, it's painful to look back on those days... I was completely new to TCGs so had absolutely no idea what I was doing!
Remember being so confused about the difference between the different card types (rarities, sets, minions vs spells...) and constantly being perplexed as to why I had so few cards to chose from.
Hmm, I can't really remember the first one aside from the tutorial and thinking it was annoying. But I do remember some of my first games playing hunter by the time naxx got it's first wing released.
I was a smart orc back then until I came across a handlock which suddenly got his 0 mana molten giants with taunt. And also a mage that played Ice Block. It blew my mind how someone could get away with having an extra turn for 3 mana so of course, facing such cheating, I left the game and came back like a year after.
Ahh yes of course! I went to ranked a died to Odd Rogue turn 4.
Jokes aside I remember some moments from early days. I started playing when BRM was released.
Warlock Hero Power was garbage cause you take 2 damage.
The first pack I ever opened had Sunfury Protector and I thought I was lucky af cause you know it has the Innkeeper saying "Rare" and the blue particle effects. I even said that to my friend asking if I was lucky lol.
Also I thought Alextraza was cool and broken cause it just made your health 15. Still dont own Alextraza to this day XD
also, Nightblade must've been one of my very early favorite minions. it's totally good, guys! guaranteed 3 damage to face on a body and you don't have to craft it? woah! of course i always played it last to make the final blow to their face, lol
My first day in HS came about as I secured a beta testing invitation due to having been a long term Blizzard fan boy. Back then, the ladder system didn't use letters, it was a star system. So, the lowest rank was something like bronze 5-star, to which you could climb up to Diamond three star and more. I mained a Priest back then.
I also recall having a telephone interview with Blizzard staff on my impressions of the game and how it could improve.
I downloaded the game approx. 2 years after one buddy told me about it. It was on the 4th of February this year.
Because of no optic cables :( and such, it's very smart to disconnect PC and router (obsolete one :( ) from electricity, or it will get wrecked when lightnings occur.
Thunders started that night... but I was so interested in the game, tutorial... Heck, thunders where far away; what could go wrong? My thoughts: I will finish the tutorial in 10 minutes, then turn the PC off. So, I continued for several minutes... totally focused... and suddenly: the strongest thunder I've ever experienced struck my house; it was like explosion of an atomic bomb; and everything went down, I mean - electricity. Very unpleasant sound came from the PC case and I thought: Bye, bye, to my new computer. After I changed several electrical fuses, I was amazed my PC survived all that. Pretty much a miracle (especially if I take into consideration past experiences with bad weather and electronics).
But was that a sign / a warning? To not play this game?!?
I remember picking Priest because I play Healer or Medic in every game I play. I just love the concept of Healing.
So I made a lot of decks initially using basic minions, Healing stuff and Divine Spirit. Was a great time until I learned that their was an actual Meta and that Priest was Trash(This was like around Mid Range Shaman era). Nonetheless I've stuck with Priest exclusively, I don't even have any wins on certain classes.
My first day in HS wasnt anything spectacular. I didnt bother playing against other players. I played the tutorial and started to unlock the basic cards in the Botgames. If i remember correctly my first PvP match was on my third day playing.
The friend who introduced me to the game quit just before Naxx out so I learned the game on his account and spent the first day doing the Naxx bosses with handlock and zoo from vanilla. I ground out all the heroic bosses before hitting ladder so I probably didn't make as many horrible missplays as most people
Meeting patron warrior for the first time was great though
I was really excited about this game , downloaded it for pc since day one got myself a golden elite Tauren chieftan in the store (beta) and with a little loop I downloaded HS on the Australian App Store to play on iOS ^^

I remember being amazed by the art quality and liking the medieval music.
I started with the launch of LoE and remember thinking that priest was so OP because they kept stealing and entombing all my minions. LOL.
I remember unpacking an Ysera from one of my welcome packs, back in the Asia server. Of course, I had to put it in every deck I played.

Also remember thinking that Sen'jin Shieldmasta, Gurubashi Berserker and Frostwolf Warlord were totally OP. Simpler times...

Very different from the game now.
Golden Hero Collections thus far; -
Europe: Druid, Hunter, Paladin, Mage, Priest, Rogue, Shaman, Warlock, Warrior (9/9)
Americas: Druid, Mage, Paladin Shaman (4/9)
Everywhere else: Workin on it.. (0/9)
Back on the closed Beta... I was REALLY anxious waiting for the download (it was my first beta invitation) and install process.
Then I loved the tutorial (I'd like to replay it sometime) and started playing with Jaina trying to defeat all other Heroes...
How can I forget my 1st day in HS!?

“Let your plans be dark and impenetrable as night, and when you move, fall like a thunderbolt.”
I used Elven Archer to attack my own Gurubashi Beserker and I thought I was onto the newest META on my first day.
