Earliest memory of hearthstone was trying to figure out how to make an assassin rogue with the handful of cards I had, taking it onto the ladder and getting OTKed by an oil rogue. I thought it was the coolest thing ever.
I still remember the day when i got golden Nat, the darkfisher. I was confused why its legendary card. Then I try used him in my every deck. I thought it should be like you can buff him big the the opponent wont kill it because nat give him card draw. The strat ussualy work but after playing many games i realize nat was useless. So i DE nat than craft Ragnaros and have a RNG fiesta with rag.
- played mage a lot, because of the free golden after level 10 (I found them so sick)
- I had nightmare about exodia mage which was the most op bullshit in the game in my eyes. Why the fuck some legendary gives you infinite Fireball while other basically do nothing
- first legendary was Nat Paggle (cf what I just said)
- few days later got a Tirion Fordring and started to main paladin (for few month)
- about a month after I started KoFT was here I was so hyyyyyped
- KoFT adventure was awesome but I found that beating the Lich King was way too hard (only got the final win like 2 month afterward).
- At KoFT start, I got a golden Malfurion the Pestilent (first golden legendary) and an Hadronox which everyone told me to DE never did it (and boy I was right). I have never DE any legendary ever to this day.
I downloaded the game after seeing an Ad with a Pyroblast (Yes,I do remember something so trivial) on it on the Yu-Gi-Oh wiki, this was around Naxx, played the tutorial, got Mage to level 10 and went on ladder... There I met another Mage and his Flamestrike destroyed my board so I was like "Wow that's such a powerful card I wish I had it too!" needless to say I facepalmed when I realized it was a basic card and I had unlocked it without even noticing... After that I went to play Arena, picked Mage and drafted,I think, a pretty decent Deck (At least on the spell side) then proceeded to go 1-3.... After those burning defeats I closed the game and didn't open it again until GVG's release, after that I started playing on daily basis.....
A friend showed me hearthstone right after releasing GvG, I watch sitting next to him watching him playing cards, and I asked:
Why to fuck do you play card game at the computer, rather than playing the "real" cards?
I said this is shitty game, I refused to play with him. Few days later a friend asked me to try just a tutorial, and I started playing with priest. Few months later I got golden priest, and right now I need 90 games as mage, and 200 games as paladin to get all heroes golden. Hearthstone caught my heart.
ive always played rogues, ninjas so after tutorial i got Valeera and never looked back.
ive started weeks before karazhan btw.
cthun druid and priest. that 3 mana 3-4 that buffs cthun. i couldnt kill it. it was so depressing. i didnt had any eviscerate or preps. didnt know they were powerful cards.
control warrior with older elise. i couldnt do anything against that.
midrange shaman.. same..
i wanted to play oil rogue so much. i liked the theme. i didnt understand why rogue plays spell damage things like azure drake.
but after i got hang of it. it felt really good. made a miracle deck with the cards i enjoy. i used thistletea for lucky lethals via sinister strike and elven archers( lol)
the incredible control rogue was my dream it looked so fun.
that karazhan portal party with suzie and the others was a blast! long time ive enjoyed something that good. yoggsaron was unnerfed at the time and i played it for the first time. it played like 40 spells , the turn was over and i dont know whats happening but i enjoyed it so much, it brings tears to my eyes when i remember it.
also karazhan adventure was a blast too! all those OP spells and not knowing what might happen next was incredible experience for me.
good times.
edit: also al akir looked very fun at the time. all those effects and an incredible entrance
Oh good old days. I joined right after Blackrock Mountain adventure on my friend invitation. In my first day I have opened my favourite (still) legendary: Alexstrasza. My friend opened Ragnaros and there were some really epic battles between us, with mostly vanillas monster and those two legendaries. It was like Kaiba with his blue eyes white dragon and Yugi with his Dark Magican.
I remember playing this in my college days. Never actually played World of Warcraft, so wasn't expecting much. Loved the tutorial and how silly it was. Because of that, I stuck with it. I owe my old nerdy friend a huge thank you for introducing me into this.
and boy howdy, do i remember running TAZ DINGOOOO!!!and OG yeti for weeks in every deck until i finally had to realize that they weren't good and basically never played them again ...
just today out of curiosity i looked up their stats and winrates on hsreplay, they are at like 25-30% and basically completely forgotten
it brought a tear to my eye, as silly as that sounds. because those days man.. even though i sucked so much at the time... i still hold them dearly.. the good old golden age. a time where randomness was very sparce and 'created by' barely existed... (cries in the corner)
It was fun for sure, I was new to cardgames (not counting that old single-player Yu-gi-oh game). The intro was entertaining enough and the matchmaking good enough that I was not bullied out of the game. I quickly discovered on my own a ramp/combo druid that worked really well, Cenarius was my first ever legendary so it kind of pushed me that way.
I climbed to Diamond League, this was way back in closed beta. I thought I was such hot shit but later I learned anyone who was good got that far, and best players were all in Platinum or Masters (I think there was Masters league, it copied SC basically). To my defense I was pretty fresh and I also did not have much time to climb since days after I popped in they introduced the original Ranked system.
Good times, being a noob is at the same time the best and worst thing.
I got to know the game from two friends who printed some of the cards and introduced me to it. Yes, you could actually play the game in real life at that time because most cards didn't have the word "random" in them, and if they did, you could simulate the occasional Knife Juggler with a dice.
We played Antonidas Mage vs. Murloc Warlock and I was completely stomped but intigued because of Antonidas (but never actually crafted the card, surprisingly). The aggression and refill of Murloc Warlock were also quite nice at that time (we actually paid 2 mana AND 2 health to draw 1 card, anyone remember these days?). I downloaded the game and when we met again, I wanted to build some warlock zoo list (because face hunter was too boring for me). But I had "no dust". So my friends checked my collection and they were like "wtf, you opened a golden Cho?! Dust it!". My only dusted golden legendary until now. Thank you, Cho, for helping me build my first legend deck ever.
This was at the time when The Grand Tournament was released. I still remember the last 5 ranks and all these "Who am I? None of your business!" or "Hey, everyone, get in here!" games. Even playing against Freeze Mage wasn't that bad at the time. I remember the Loatheb tech in my Zoolock that worked like 1 in 50 games. Good times.

Maybe not the first day, but I remember in my early days I like to pick cards with charge, taunt and draw a card lol

I remember disenchanting Sylvanas Windrunner which i got from pack, just to craft a bunch of rare and common cards.

My 2nd pack during beta I opened up golden gruul and thought he was the most powerful thing ever.

I remember going like 1-3 in my free Arena run because of a disconnect, and just never playing Arena again, I still have like 5 tickets banked.
