Basically what the title say. You have the opportunity right now to get in on the ground floor of something new and fresh. This isn't Gwent, a mini game that has been stretched too thin by developers who have never designed a card game in their lives. It's not a wonky translation of MTG either that wasn't built from the ground up to be an intuitive game you play on your computer. Nor is it part of the myriad of Hearthstone knockoffs like Shadowverse that hold many of the same problems Hearthstone does.
This game is new. It's being built from the ground up by one of the most successful esports gaming companies around. It's backed by a man who has spent most of his life building card games and board games that are beloved by millions. Don't write it off just because it looks hard on the outside. Yes, it's more intricate than Hearthstone, but don't blame Artifact for what Hearthstone's simplicity has conditioned you to. You can learn it and it will become second nature over time.
I'm not saying to quit Hearthstone, really, I'm not. I just think you should look into Artifact a bit. Give it a chance to grow on you. Hearthstone is never going to change. What it is now is what it will always be unless something bites it in the ass. That staleness you feel so quickly after a new expansion is caused by Hearthstone's simplistic game play. No amount of cards will ever change that. Anyways, most competitive streamers are going to be playing it for the simple fact that Valve prize pools are insane and they know how to give pros an esports experience. You as a casual player should prepare for it as well. What better time to get in than while the card pool is small and you can start building up a collection as soon as it hits. Give team 5 a reason to work.
My personal though about artifact is that it will actually be a hard game to understand and play. That's why a lot of people will just avoid it. I don't say that it wont have its gamers, because of Valve will put a lot of money into it, but will be just a different game than Hearthstone. Hearthstone really wins with its simplicity for the mass! Artifact will win with it's complexity! It may look that they are similar card games but they are actually very different games. And all of them will have their audience.
When I watched presentation on youtube, yeah I kind of liked how Artifact will be working with more than one board and nice effects(btw. those dragons are cute) but to be honest I dont think it will dominate card games.... I mean, hs will probably stay in the top for its simplicity and cause of mobile version... but I agree that Artifact will be worth to give it a try ;)
Valve has announced a release date and price for Artifact. The card collection game is based on its popular MOBA, Dota 2. The Artifact release date is November 28 for Windows, macOS, and Linux via Steam. Artifact's price is $19.99 (around Rs. 1,366)

How does that work? Are packs not a thing, purchasable only with in-game currency or something else entirely? It looks intriguing but if I have to spend Hearthstone-like amounts to upkeep a second collection every expansion, I'd rather stick to the f2p alternatives like Shadowverse. A one time 20$ price tag sounds very reasonable though
@NightCrawl3r I recommend you to check article from PC gamer about Artifact - you will find all information there and why the game will not be free to play :) https://www.pcgamer.com/artifact-guide/

I might be wrong on this, but I read somewhere that you have to buy packs ingame on top of the actual buying of the game and only way to get packs ingame is to buy them with real money, I don't think there's any way to grind packs for free, but you can trade/buy cards with/from other players by the looks of it. lol
the fact that you have to buy the game first before you can try will be what put most people off straight away.

It's not one time. The $20 is, in a way buying the 'starter set', sort of like the pre-orders we have here. You get enough cards for two complete decks and 10 packs. After that each pack is $2 each.
There's no crafting system or a way to get the cards in game. You pay with cash or trade with others. It's a TCG, a Trading Card Game, compared to HS being a CCG, a Collectable Card Game.
So yeah, you're paying into the game. It SOUNDS like it'll cost less in the end than if you whaled HS, but the pay-in will be required.
Saying this is a competition against Hearthstone is like saying Street Fighter 5 is a competition for hearthstone. The two aren't even after the same customers. You can literally have each company working together to shuffle customers to the appropriate game (Dislike the F2P requirements, or consider this game too hard? Try out Hearthstone: It's Free and good for people new to card games. Game is not complex enough and miss trading cards? Try out Artifact. It lets you trade cards and is made for folks who are after a more extreme experience.)
I'm not playing cute: they can honestly do this and result in both games working well together.
I'm no longer playing WoW after many years of being a 'hardcore casual' so HS serves as my tie to WoW & a card game interest. Artifact is missing half of the reason I'm playing HS so I don't see the appeal in the game personally *shrugs*.

They should stick to making other games. Artifact will most likely be fiasco yet we are still waiting for Half Life 3 xDDD

You sound like Artifact's salesman. No offense meant, it's just what popped in my head right after I read your comment.

It's good that artifact has a good impact so it forces Blizzard to make the game better and cheaper
I don't understand why I can see this thread when I have adblock on.

Rumors are carried by haters, spread by fools, and accepted by idiots.

One does not simply walk into Mordor,
unless they want to be the best they can be.
