I've been thinking of putting together a Malygos Druid deck but I keep wondering how the deck is supposed to get enough burst to get through the armor of Control Warriors or other Druids. Like the only burst spells are Swipe and Moonfire and even triple malygos probably isn't enough to get through most control warriors' armor. Do you just auto concede against control warriors or just stall until fatigue or what?
I reached legend with a Malygos Toggwaggle hybrid druid last season but I would not recommend it for serious climbing anymore given the current meta. Demonic project decks have mostly disappeared while the popularity of egg decks and quest rogue has gone up, making the matchups of Toggwaggle and hybrids inferior to pure Maly druid. Odd warriors equipped with Azalina and the knowledge to use it will also beat Toggwaggle, though admittedly these only appear at extreme high levels
In the mirror, the key is to draw little and fatigue the opponent while armoring up and saving responses to the key threats. Neither of you can kill the other unless someone gets very lucky so this matchup always goes into fatigue
Against Toggwaggle, you want aggressively search for your twig but save some draw in hand. After they swap decks, cast ransom, break your twig, then cast the appropriate amount of draw to even the decks. The matchup is statistically poor, but with this trick you are are extremely favored
It's often hard to tell the difference between Toggwaggle, Maly and hybrid druids in the early and mid game but you can use HSReplay's deck search function, sorted by popularity, and filter by the tech cards you see the opponent playing as you go along. These are cards like wrath, innervate, biology project, lich king, oaken summons, MCT, and EleGiggles. Netdeckers will be running the same tech cards as the popular netdecks even if they are interchangeable in theory
Big, taunt and token druid are played to counter you. Thankfully the former two are not common. As with all bad matchups, go full YOLO early and hope they don't have answers. Token druid does not commonly run naturalize so your Maly can stick if they don't have enough of a board to roar it down. These guys also have less armor than other druids because branching paths are designated as a buff. Your spreading plagues can hold off a wave of buffed wisps but be careful of a counter plague
Against odd warrior, you want to get lots of chip damage in and use branching paths for damage, especially when you feel the opponent is struggling to remove the board. Malygos sticks surprisingly often; they cannot run execute, so their only answer to Maly are brawl, owl and shield slam. Try to play Maly on empty boards to avoid brawls and to remove all armor in your burst to prevent the easy shield slam. These guys all run weapon destruction so don't rely too heavily on twig and don't hold it at 1 charge waiting for better twig turns
Make sure to mulligan properly against these classes. The DK is key and hero power pushes the same damage as an odd hunter. Twig is also a key card as druids don't run weapon destruction and warriors are forced to have it early and give you ramp if twig is played on curve. Tempo/board based archetypes of these classes are extremely uncommon, so don't keep removal
Mostly chip damage with UI, arcane tyrant, malfurion, giggling inventor/branching paths. Hope they don't remove your minions and keep the armor low. Try not to play into brawl. Try to put them in a position where they need to decide whether to armor up or remove your minions every turn. Don't be too greedy. If you can burst them below 10 health with maly, it might be worth it instead of waiting for your last moonfire which could be near the bottom of your deck.
Minion damage to control the armour and Alex their health to 15. Then, try to get the full 2x Maly combo with Twig/Floop and a Flower Power (if you’re using one). The latter helps a lot in these matchups.

All the times I've beaten odd warrior, alexstraza was used.
