Good expansion means all classes balanced and playable. Have to see that long time ago,
However, worst expansions:
1. Witchwood
2. Boomsday
3. Kobolds.
Yes, the latest ones, (sigh..)
Do you play the same game ?
Witchwood after nerf had most playable decks and classes, even Boomsday have all classes playable except priest.
There are real problems with the meta but not enough diversity is not one of them.
Yes, and I watch tournament decks every time and there were never every class included.
Which tournaments did you watch? Witchwood was impressive that it actually DID have every class represented. Some were rare (priest was hard to find) but ALL of the classes had viable options.
In fact, that was the #1 complaint about post-nerf Witchwood. So many decks without a firm winner created a rock-paper-scissors mentality that make it hard to play the counter-meta against.
Btw, Boomsday HAS two viable preist archetypes: Inner fire and mind blast. Both aren't popular but they DO show up and gets wins in. Biggest issue with priest is in the fact that everyone that plays priest wants to play topsy priest since pulling it off makes you feel so bad*(#*$(#.
After that there's warrior which has a combination of being underappreciated for it's power and who has a weak spot for the Meta-definer Quest Rogue.
I'm THinking, though, that the OP is looking for not so much balance as much as the main mechanics seeing heavy use: Mechs and Omegas and legendary spells.
If you were seeing those hyped up mechanics and wanted a ton of THAT, then this is a horrible expansion. If you want an expansion that continues the balanced meta that Witchwood introduced then boomsday is one of the best expansions.
(note that if you were the former, I'd imagine Old Gods would be the best as the main mechanic there, the Old Gods themselves, along with the 'reverse cards' like Lightbringer, were meta defining. That or Knights.)
So it's really about what you are after for the expansion. Gone are the days when we would all agree that some expansions suck (TGT) and some rock (LoE).
The expansion is very good, don't have many cards in actual decks is an excelent thing because stop the bullshit, think about for one minute, what kind of OP card need to be release to compete with SP, Defile, UI, warlock DK, etc...? You really want this kind of cards killing the variety and be played over and over and over again like pre-nerf Patches and Creeper?
Helpful Clarification on Forbidden Topics for Hearthstone Forums:
Enjoying Americans winning in the Olympics is forbidden because it is political. A 14 plus page discussion of state-sponsored lawsuits against a multi-national corporation based on harassment, discrimination, and wrongful death allegations is apparently not political enough to raise an issue.
I have the feeling that before any nerf, BP has not been able to change sustancially the format, little by little players are coming back to the arquetypes before the expansion. Only GI has been able to get a place in many decks, and resurrect quest rogue by itself...
What do you think?
i think u need some edumaction for your lurning to git bettar. knowing how to spel correctly is pritty impotant dont ya tink?
This and Witchwood have been very good expansions, and leave loads of undiscovered decks to be built. A set isn't meant to be massive change for 4 months, it's designed to fit into a 2-year roadmap without destabilising the game too much, which is an extremely difficult thing to pull off. Witchwood set up certain archetypes (being the first set in a 2-year rotation), and this one tweaked it, bringing some new mechanics and themes. Job done, hope the next one is as good as this one.

I wasn't planning on going for a run today. But those cops came out of nowhere.
I am not a native speaker, I would like to see your spelling in my mother language.....nevertheless I sincerely apologize for my spelling to everyone except you AH.
First of all, it's been like a month since Boomsday's release. You can't really judge this expansion that fast.
Witchwood gave birth to tons of new decks with the even/odd deck thingy, and most of the classes were standing on pretty much the same power level.
Ok. Warlocks were pretty good during Kobolds, but that doesn't make KnC a bad expansion.
IMO, i think the worst one so far is One Night in Karazhan. It killed priests, mages were the kings of arena (while pretty much no one else was) and the adventure itself was pretty bad.
I think it is a great expansion and all of it's cards will improve during rotation. People are quick to point out recent expansions as being the cause of a disease, but did you ever consider that maybe that fact that it feels underwhelming is just a symptom of an already existing problem?
What I am getting at here is the fact that classic and basic sets are making up almost 40% of the cards in the meta despite them making up only about 15-20% of all the cards in standard. There is a problem here, and it's not the new cards my friends. It's the old ones. We need a rotating set of base cards every year to go along with the rotation of old expansions. Vanish is a huge offender in quest rogue but generally a cool card, what if we rotated vanish out at the beginning of the year? How about sending wild growth away for a few years and bringing back kazakus? Why not bring back some of the mechs from gvg and have the murlocs sit on the sidelines for awhile? What if we removed cold blood and put in sabotage instead?
So many cool cards that never saw a ton of play or that have been absent for years could be interesting again. I am so tired of the same shit in this game, everyone is, so it's baffling to see people blame new cards for the reason old ones are still in every single deck.
This expansion is overshadowed by KFT. It might be fine once rotation happens. Hearthstone needs to come down in power level, so I am fine if the expansions this year are a little weak by comparison.
As Kaladin mentioned above, this is the longest into an expansion we've gone without this type of thread lol. So that alone makes this expansion impressive.
I'm happy that they've taken a step back with power level from last year. This year's expansions have brought in a lot of cards that are extremely unique and could create very fun archetypes in the future. Yes, I will agree with whoever says that Druid is in a very dangerous spot, and they have been for a long time. Thankfully I've been able to beat them whenever I face them, so it's not so much my problem lol.
After the cubelock nerfs, there have been sooo many different decks that can be played. I know it's tougher to truly counter the meta, but they're going in the right direction.

I'm pretty sure it has nothing to do with Blizzard's "intentions of the direction the game is going in"... that would imply they have some idea of how to balance classes. Every expansion some classes get royally screwed and it just rotates, meanwhile the majority of card design this expansion doesn't see competitive play. If you want to play off-meta decks be prepared to get mowed over by ladder decks because there is no game play space for anything else on the ladder unless you enjoy consistent losing streaks. At the end of the day, I'm convinced Blizzard has no idea what they are doing and all the work they spend in "card design" ends up a wasted effort.
Am I the only one that likes boomsday? Come on they brought back mechs... then again, I am a wild player so there are a metric ton of mechs that are a lot better than standard.
Have you played during TGT? Boomsday is miles better, I'm actually kinda enjoying the game right now. There's a lot of uncool stuff, but there are many, MANY viable ladder decks at the moment. It's been really cool!
yeah, I was having a lot of fun at first. There's a few new cards that are awesome, but there's sooooo many dumb combo decks. Once they nerf druid and zoo-warlock (Prince Keleseth needs to die in a fire ffs. Worst design ever.), the meta will be a lot better. quest rogue is BS, but in the grand scheme of things, is not that bad compared to like every druid deck with a combo win-condition and UI + Spreading Plague + naturalize/spellstone. I literally concede whenever I get matched vs a druid, because I know that even if I win, it's still going to be a miserable experience. When you lose, they have like 40 HP and a full hand of cards, don't play minions all game, then kill you from full health. When you win, they play no minions still, but dont draw spreading plague, or U.I. You feel like crap either way. Bloodreaver Gul'Dan needs to go as well. Idk what they were thinking with that god-awful overpowered piece of crap card.
Salt much. Bloodreaver is weaker then a lot of the other deathknights so I don't really get the salt there. And Druid does need to be nerfed same with heal zoo (Happy goul nerf to 2 mana would be fine) but other then that I'm pretty happy with the Meta. Its not super rock, paper, scissors and you can play a wide range of decks with reasonable winrates. I'd recommend youw watch Kripparians proposed nerf suggestions. They all seem good to me.
I think the Boomsday Project has been awesome so far. I have to admit that I was scared at first that the powerlevel might be too high, but it turns out the powerlevel is great, it's just unfortunate that previous expansions (Mainly Frozen Throne and Kobolds and Catacombs) just had too many powerful cards and I also think Baku is too strong. Personally though I just like to ignore the meta as much as I can and play whatever the hell I want and I'm having a blast. So far my favorite decks have been Big Warrior and Shuffle Rogue, and besides that I'm also having a lot of fun playing with my golden Whizbang.

One does not simply walk into Mordor,
unless they want to be the best they can be.

Apart from the annoyance of facing Druids, I’m still enjoying the DLC. A little to many odd decks and Zoo. Nothing out of the ordinary though.
