I would ask why people keep questioning why the salt thread exists. Have you never been frustrated about something due to a run of bad luck and wanted to vent about it? Sometimes you need a release valve when you keep getting fucked. Obviously nobody (except maybe kaladin) actually is salty 100% of the time, but when you win you don't generally feel the urge to vent about it, because you're enjoying the game and the only reason to share it would be for bragging rights which I don't care about generally.
Bottom line is you can find a game incredibly frustrating and still enjoy it more than you hate it. That's why the salt thread people keep playing.
For me it’s when my opponent didn’t earn or deserve the win. He/She thinks they outplayed me, but SO MANY TIMES it is pure rng. I’m not a marvelous player. But when I’m ahead the whole game and one topdeck bullshit card not only delays the game, but swings it in their favor, I get pissed. The most triggering is 2-3x Reno cocksuckers. I should not have to damage upwards of 100 damage while they only need 30.
Sunken Cost Fallacy my dude. Even if you're free to play, people who've sunken hundreds of hours feel as though they HAVE to keep playing. It's frustrating.
I dont understand the point of complaining about bad RNG. Eventually everyone gets bad luck. Yes, it sucks to experience bad rng but we tend to ignore it when things go our way by telling ourselves that we won due to our superior skills. When our opponents win, its always just ''rng'.
It's simple: if you care about something, you can get angry about it. If people care about having fun or winning games in Hearthstone for example, they can rage if they get matched against unfun decks or if they lose because of bad rng because they know their experience could have been better if things had been different.
Look, I want to tell you something because you're very dear to me. And I hope you understand that it comes from the bottom of my damaged, damaged heart. You are the finest piece of ass I've ever had and I don't care who knows it. I am so glad that I got to roam those hillsides.
Since you choose your moves, and even strategy if you homebrew, you feel in command. Even clever at it. A chessmaster almost.
And then you fail, 40-50% of the games, and you feel deprived of that power.
It's not like you don't have the power of choice, it's not just RNG, you just have much less than what you thought, and realise it brutally. Yet, you hardly understand it.
That is, your hand is a small subset of your whole strategy (the deck), and can have only a vague idea of the opponent's one, while in the average player's mind, only the deck is judged, the hand is hardly conceived (and correctly so, since it is variable).
Expectations not fulfilled, and lack of a full understanding. That's the source of the rage.

HS took a lot of advantage of the digital format and went heavy on RNG and random effects. If you want to enjoy the game you have to accept the huge swings a little luck can bestow on any player.
For every time you get the exact random 2 drop that will let you swing for lethal you play against an opponent who pulls the random spell that would be the only one to wipe your board. It’s a game that lends itself to emotional highs and lows.
Some people like to own Jeeps. They like the way they look, the way they drive, they like the lifestyle. They also acknowledge that they have an enormous customer maintenance cost, one of the worst in the market. They can have it break down 10 times, vent their frustration day and night to the dealership, post of keep forums, and you know what? ... when it comes time to buy a new car, they’ll buy a Jeep.
It’s possible to love something flawed, and be critical of it, and still love it.
"Why these people know that the game is shit (or just believe that) but keep playing? "
You are getting the things wrong. People not complain cause the HATE the game but because people LIKE the game. When you like something you want that think to be good right? so when something that is not really fun happens in a game that you like, you complain about it because you want to know if more people thinks like you and maaaybe the designers will also figure that something is not really balance or very interactive.
What happens right now? (i will not make this a complain thread dont worry i will say this very fast). A class is just a little over the others in anysense. So every deck of that class is not only playable but also tier 1 or 2 and all those decks shared a couple of "staple" cards of the class that composes almost the 60% of the deck. So they are not just staple, is more like "this class have not different decks just put the same cards and change the legendaries and some other key cards like 4 or 6 and thats it...same deck different win condition, almost the same power" which yeah, its a problem in terms of card games, that is why hall of fame exist in this game in first place to prevent decks to be evergreen forever. Atleast this is the only problem that i see in this days that people repeat in almost every thread.
Simple. About the RNG i dont thing its really a problem is just salt, when people salt about RNG they dont hate the game, they just have a bad game or a lot of bad games and they want to express that is annoying to get destroyed cause luck every match. People salt every time in IRL or games everytime but they dont stop playing everything (or living...) for a little of rage.
Why do i rage? Astromancer into Lynessa Sunsorrow. Or Book of Specters into Book of Specters and Luna's Pocket Galaxy (the remaining 2 cards of my deck). Or get queued with nothing but counters. Or turn 1 Kobold Librarian + Coin + Voodoo Doctor + 2×Happy Ghouls . Or turn 2 topdecked (but also not topdecked) Keleseth. Or Turn 6 Deathstalker Rexxar. At least those in the current meta.
Then we had also something like N'zoth's First Mate into "I'm in Charge now" + Coin + Smalltike Bucaneer but that's another story
Is it enough?

People keep playing because they have no life. And hearthstone is an addicting game. Just take your laptop or you smartphone and here we go for 2 minute games where rng is more important than your reflection. So that's why. I personally find this game pitiful and people who play it too but for those reasons i continue to play it

This is hilarious... a salt thread about salt threads and getting salty.
Saltception is coming bois.

Because as cardgame, HS is a smart mixture.

Rage over video games is something I'll never understand.
Anger is the punishment we give ourselves for someone else's mistake.
