Why on earth are meme decks the most expensive decks outside of a few select meta decks (highlander priest and control warrior come to mind)? I can understand Blizzard making some paywall for the top meta decks (which isn’t t actually the case btw) but why make meme decks SO EXPENSIVE? What’s the point?
It’s a genuine inquiry. It’s odd that underpowered memes cost a shitload to craft. Is it because they are “fun”?
Maybe, but how do we know it's something Blizzard does on purpose? I mean, yeah, they are a bunch of greedy bastards, but still, I have my doubts about this.
because Blizzard secretly hates you in particular and spent dozens of hours to figure out all the possible meme decks for each expansions and then makes them the most expensive just to spite you
I know this, because Mike Donais confirmed it after I shagged him.
Try to build something more cheaper then. Its not Blizzard fault that community cant come up with some cheaper meme. Or is Blizzard supposed to build even a meme decks for your lazy ass?
There is actually a simple reason for this. Blizzard has said that card rarity isn't an indication of overall strength but generally strength in specific situations.
Meme decks usually use these niche situations so they have legendary and epics, and often ones you've never had the need to craft before.

This is the best answer.
Legendary and epic cards tend to have strange effects; most memorable decks are combinations of these unusual effects. Common and rare cards are more likely to be pure stats and a more straightforward, easy to duplicate effect.

OMG. People please, stop complaining about everything!!!

it's cuz people would be complaining way ahrder if the meme decks were the cheap ones and the competitive decks were the expensive ones
I'm glad that you get 1 free legendary per expansion nowadays and another one within the first 10 packs of each expansion ;)

Yeah I wish there were more tavern brawls that allowed you to experiment with the fun cards, instead of standard brawliseum type trash.
This.
There is 0 problem if unplayable meme decks cost too much.
After all blizzard has to get money from somewhere and it's nice they allow all players to win at least.
For sure! That’s great. I just wish making fun decks wasn’t more expensive for us than strong ones.

I tried having fun once. It was awful.
Counter question, what is even a meme deck in this meta and why does it need many bad legendaries to be "fun"?
Legend with : S65 Freeze Mage, S57 Maly Gonk Druid, S57 "Okay" Shaman, S53 Boom-zooka Hunter, S53 Maly Tog Druid, S52 Wild Tog Druid ft.Blingtron, S50 Quest Rogue, S49 Dead Man's Warrior, S41 Wild Clown Fiesta Druid, S41 Hadronox Jade Druid, S40 Wild OTK Dragon Druid, S35 SMOrc Shaman, S33 Jade Druid, S22 Control Priest, S19 Control Priest
What is a meme deck?
Togwaggle was considered meme-tier, then it became top-tier for a while.
No-Minions-Hunter was considered meme-tier, then it became a top-tier deck.
Keleseth was considered unplayable. But yeah well.
There are more such stories.
Remember tunnel weasler? Cool deck to try... if you had 16000 dust or some stupid amount.
Thats obviously a silly example, but so many memes cost 10000 plus dust and there’s no reason for that

They are expensive because they tend to have a lot of legendaries and epics. Plain and simple.

There isn't a definition for what a 'meme' card actually is. Just look at what happened with Togwaggle
The more unique or strange a card's effect is, the more likely it will be epic or legendary.
Meme decks require unique and strange interactions.
Therefore meme decks tend to use more epics and legendaries.
Anger is the punishment we give ourselves for someone else's mistake.
I present to you guys - a cheaper meme Necrotic Geist. It's actually a pretty fun card for zooish decks.
