Guys,

Seems like just about everyone is playing Zoolock now, which I have very low win rate against.  Are there any cheap decks that can beat it?   Or do I need to play Zoolock myself?

Even with counter decks u need to draw well...

Depends what cards u already have.. if u have baku odd rogue can beat it

Make a budget warlock with double.defile, hellfire and a lot of taunts

WaWarri control decks.can beat it but are expensive

Budget control lock is probably ur bur best shout.. can put demonic project in ur deck.as a combo disruptor aswell.. but ud ud lack a propper win condition 

I play control priest and it is not a terrible match up for me.. still hard work, but u need double psychic, double dusk breaker and pyromancers in there

I have been playing Even Warlock since it is one of the few ladder decks I have collected enough cards for.  But it seems to lose to everything since Boomsday came out.

I had really good luck against them with control warlock. Not really a F2P deck, but not super expensive either. I do run both Skull and Rin, but I only play Skull depending on how I draw, and what I am playing against. (You don't want to play it if you think you are going to get Azari down early enough that it will matter). Other than those, the only other Legendary are Godfrey and Gul'Dan ... both of which are necessary for the deck. 

I also had good luck against zoo with Big Spell Mage. Actually had better luck with the Pre-Boomsday list than I did with the new one. That might be an option of you have Jaina. The other legendary cards in the deck can be optioned out since its the AoE you are looking for, and Jaina is pretty much a win condition in herself.

 Okay, that deck have five legendaries in it.  I did mention free to play in the OP.

Unfortunately I don't have any of those legendaries, so this isn't really an option for me (nor do I have Jaina).  They print so many legendaries these days that it's impossible to keep up while staying free to play.  I guess that is not an accident, though.

Gone are the days when you can just open up some packs and make a half decent deck without collecting 10,000+ dust worth of specific cards, I guess.

Unsurprisingly, I do not have the five legendaries required to play this deck either.

Unluckily for you. The strong budget currently is zoo. 

There are no shortage of zoo counters but for the most part they are not budget decks. 

If you can't beat em join em! 

Zoo is the f2p deck atm.

 Even Warlock is doing well?  I have about a 16% win rate with it.  What rank are you?  I am at 7 and every deck either out-tempos me and kills me on turn 7 or out-values me with infinite deathrattles in the mid-game.

If you want to play control, you need to buy some packs. Otherwise, you don't have a lot of options apart from aggro decks which are typically cheap -> zoolock might be the best choice.

 I have bought about 40 Boomsday packs with my gold, but this is pretty insignificant when you need four to five specific legendaries to be competitive.  I might try to save up dust for Baku to play Odd Rogue since that sounds like the only somewhat budget deck that stands a chance against Zoolock.

It would help if you make your collection public, that way we can better recommendations.

OP, do you have DK Rexxar perhaps? Spell Hunter does pretty good against zoo, and it requires only Rexxar (and weapon, but we'll make do without it), and a few epics (2x To My Side)...unfortunately, Spell Hunter struggles quite a bit against some of the other popular decks in the meta right now (but it can still win if it draws specific cards for each matchup in time - i.e. draw Rexxar on 6 vs mostly anything xD)

Also, which server are you? 16% with Even lock sounds abyssmal, the deck was pretty good last time I checked.

 By buying packs I was thinking using actual money in addition to saved up gold. I used to be f2p but it was not fun playing sub optimal decks and only the ones you are blessed to get legendaries for by rng. After first pre-order during Ungoro I was able to create 3-4 meta decks, after pre-ordering the KoFT I could mostly craft a deck for each class. From that point my f2p problems mostly disappeared and I started to enjoy the game much more.

 I do have Rexxar.  I might have to bring spell hunter out of retirement.  I'm on Americas.
