I currently have 9500 gold and 6.6k dust. I'm not sure if I should pre-order or not? (Money is not the problem, just wondering if I can get by without buying it)
Edit: I also have a couple of bad legendaries that I can disenchant
you can get by without it.. you will be able to buy 95 packs with gold and create 3-4 legendaries you need for the deck you want.. buying the packs makes easier dust and crafting decks :)
Thanks all, I think that I will get it. I'm really excited for this new expansion to shake things up a bit. That Golden Legendary would also look really good in my collection.
It also depends on your long term goals and money. If you have money now but may not have it when the next expansion is released in Dec you may want to get the pre release now and keep some gold back for the next expansion. This is what I plan on doing. I will have over 11k in gold when the expansion hits. But I would like to have 3-4k left depending on what I open and the pity timer.
I'm in the exact same place as you - I have almost 10k gold and a little bit of dust and a few legendaries and golden epics I could DE if I wanted some more cards and I'm not pre-ordering. Last expansion, I opened 150 packs and I got by just fine, so 100 packs this expansion has to be enough. It's not worth the money IMO
I got both and don't regret it. With 130 packs, I was free to spend gold on previous expansions rather than save up for BoomsDay, so even if you have tons of gold, you're not exactly losing value from "too many" packs of one expansion
I also have 7k gold and 8k dust, but I did pre-order 80 packs. Because with 155 packs on release day I will get all the normal and rare cards, ~90% of epics and ~8-12 legendaries (and also 1 free legendary + 1 golden from pre-order). It is worth it to pre-order I think.

What if you are unlucky? ...could be more like 40% epics, 6 legendaries.

Your luck isnt going to change with less packs. If you dont get the per order and are unlucky you will be in worse shape because you will have less dust to craft with.
No. Never preorder, not even for Hearthstone. Preordering in video games have always been a terrible business practice, and it's worse here as you're preordering loot boxes.
Remember, they're now locking a hero portrait behind an $80 preorder.

Definitely can get by, unless you want mecha jaraxxus i don't see any reason to pre-order.
I would $50 for 50 packs or $80 for 80 great deals only time you can get a pack for $1
Hearthstone mathmatics YouTube channel said you have to spend $250+ or 27k gold to get a full set each expansion.
If you open 50 packs and are decent at arena, you can get all the cards with a bit of grinding arena.

Dust does not burn a hole in the jar. Be careful what you craft, especially before and right after a rotation.

if you have the money go for it and save some gold

No brain - no pain.
