Did you read what I wrote? I don't squelch becuase I honestly don't mind that much. I played out the game, added him, congratulated him on the well played game, and asked him out of curiousity why he does that. I'm assuming either past tilt, or actually just liking to BM for whatever reason, but I wanted to hold him somewhat accountable by actually talking to him. And he responds with "your deck is trash, don't waste my time pussy."
You're really not being constructive in this thread. The OP outlined the new player experience (we all have much better experiences since we we've been able to build up from earlier in the game) and he's honsetly asking what people think about it. He gives his own thought that it's not good enough, and why he thinkgs so. But instead of actually giving some sort of argument, you just attack him and defend the game without any sort of points.
So you friend requested a stranger who was spamming emotes to ask him why he does that? Ahahahahaha, what did you think was going to happen? Do you think by sending him a friend request he would all of a sudden care about your feelings?
So your philosphy of life is this: *Someone does something bad. I don't know, bully someone, steal something, vandalize public property*
"What's the point of confronting them? It's not as if you can convince them what they did was wrong. Squelch and live on"
Indeed, see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil.
Emoting is not the real problem, it is... But not at all, maybe they are good person who knows?
I know that: Everytime I add someone, they starts to offend me just because I express my opinion that people should be nicer, because you don't know when you could offend someone that could kill you, beat you, steal yours account, rape your family. Being nicer, make you less propense to this :)
Well, I invested 2000$ in this game in 4 years and to be honest I am not happy either. This game always make you mad somehow no matter what decks you are playing. Get used to it.
For new players I think Spell hunter is a good deck to play. Not to much of an investment, can be aggressive or defensive and ok late game
A lot. yeah ahaha it's true, this game have something inside that bring your rage emotion out. From people like this, to bad luck, to rng moment ahah

Probably you are not a nice person who is good to have a conversation, you don't contribute to the thread so i think you could just stop saying random things trying to be THE BEST PLAYER AUTOSQUELCH IN THE WORLD
Your average gamer isn't looking to build meaningful relationships (maybe if you are lonely), they are just trying to be entertained. You fail to understand how the free to play model works. For example. I signed up for MTG: Arena and I have basic starter decks and when I play I sometimes get matched up with much better decks. They either payed for it or grinded for it. Welcome to the world of free to play card games, stop being so naive and get use to it.
First, @DSchu102285, I see you want to make a point but I have no idea what do you want to say. Try making 1 long reply giving counter-arguments and your thoughts.
Second, I agree with author that this game doesn't have the best system for newbies and f2p players. That being said, I don't think they have that bad of a system either. I, also, created a new account to fresh things up a bit from my main account. And tbh I had fun starting again without paying anything. Remember that players who have a decent account with decent collection and also have some skill, will definitely have less fun than the new players playing from 0. And about toxic players - Let's be honest. I can't do anything about it, you can't do anything about it, and Blizzard can't do anything about it without losing users and with them money.
You have pretty solid arguments and it really looks like you've put some work to this thread. Also "The other account is ruined because i pretty much play meta decks (not netdecking but hey i have shudderwock)." - Same here.
Indeed, i agree with you...
"The other account is ruined because i pretty much play meta decks (not netdecking but hey i have shudderwock)." - Same here.
Ahaha, is so bad trying to be competitive DEing cool (but meme) cards... Bye bye Tess, Priest quests ecc... Now i regret this my stupid move :( Tess looks very good in Boomsday with the new cards and i Hope i have the dust to make something good! (120 packs is ok i think ahaha)
I really can't understand how someone can be surprised about bad people behaviour on the internet when history has proven uncountable times most people are just a piece of shit. Like seriously, WTF??? Also, sending a request to a stranger who was spamming emotes just to ask him why he did that is dumb as f...k. If you want assholes to stop being assholes someone needs to punish them in some way, it's as simple as that. They only respect fear, nothing else, it has always been like that and always will be.
i have recently created a new account, trying to dust NOTHING and to invest more in therms of money. The other account is ruined because i pretty much play meta decks (not netdecking but hey i have shudderwock).
It's 1 month today, my resume is:
New player doesn't have cards. And this is ok, it's part of being new.
New player receive some freebies (cool freebies) and the facility to get in 40 packs (10 per espansion) legendary in their first packs.
New player have a restricted pool in the matchmaking system (for a bit)
There isn't a point 4
Now the problems:
In a week or two, new player will face Tier 1 decks (played bad but still tier 1 decks) that will crush every budget deck they created.
Ladder is full of senior player that play only for "fun" using powerful decks just to win easy against new poor players
There is a slow (too slow) sense of growing. You can't be good in a month, you need more cards (without DE nothing)
People are very hostile to you, the "emoting" is by far more than in low ranks. In 56 games in ladder so far, 45 of them was against hard emoting players.
People that have more luck than you in the KOFT first game basically win. I got Valeera (love her since KOFT). Who get Jaina/guldan, usually just win everytime. Because the first months you will play some aggro deck and facing Jaina/Gul'dan recovering a lot of hp using a lot of high cost cards just make impossibile to win. (i'm speaking both for casual and ladder)
You can't really do anything. There is the adventure, but them won't give you anything. new players want to get some cards. Arena is very hard for everyone. Imagine for a new player.
The grind is PURE... Grinding grinding grinding... For what? 100 gold at day? Is a bit weak as reward.
I find it very funny/interesting that you counted the number of "Hard emoting" players
In my eyes the problem is less the experience of f2p players (because if you pay nothing at all you should not have a great experience - it makes sense from an economical viewpoint) but the experience of new players. The more expansions are released the more money a new player would have to invest to be at least somewhat competetive. I think a decent solution would be to offer packbundles of expansions that are not in standard anymore really cheap. Like 20$ for 100 packs or even 15. This would allow new players to at least get a decent collection of older cards an build some good wild decks to play with, while still encouraging longtime players to always buy the neweset expansion. I honestly think this would be a win-win situation, Blizzard would make more money and new players would have a better experience.
Cool, i think this is a fair option. Also, a discount for the first espansion that rotate out the next year? Like: un'goro -40% on packs (still free money for Team 5), so new players shop play and then dust when un'goro rotates out
KOFT -30%
Kobold -10%
Then when rotate out these esp, your discount is applied. People could invest a little more and focuse with golds in the last one

I can't go tho their house and "fix" their mind. Also, i'm not an animal. Ok, i'm huge, strong and whatsoever but the point is that we are evoluted and we can avoid most fights. But also i think that sometime the only way is using the fist (i try to avoid this, last time i almost hospitalized a Dude so i think this is not the best way)
You already have an option to squelche. I know, that might not satisfy you, but i don't think it's yours, mine, or "Team 5"s job to educate the people. Really, get over it. Enjoy the game, the cards/decks you can create and ignore the rest. The Chances of meeting "real" friends in an online game are nearly 0 percent.
I disagree with this. Humans are naturally social and most people who play games are lacking in that department and eager to form connections with people who share their passion. I have made friends in games years ago and for my bday they would buy me gift card or even a playstation 4 just so I could play with them. The online world is like the real one, lots of strangers but you can find friends. Obviously in a competitive game like Hearthstone you will draw out the worst in people though. You just have to let it go. They are just words from someone you will never meet.
This is a problem with any older game that has a slow progression system not just hearthstone. The one thing I don't get though, is most games with this problem heap rewards on new players so that they can catch up and at least participate in the game a little bit. HS doesn't do that...
I don't see the harm in giving a ton of free packs to new players. If their first experience of the game sucks they're just going to quit and not give you any money anyway. I think most game designers would agree it's just an objectively good design decision to reward new players a lot to get them hooked on the game. But Activision is pretty tight fisted and I guess they don't mind costing themselves some new customers.

You realize there are other ways of punishing people other than harming them physically, don't you? If this worries you that much, try to contact Blizzard and talk to them about the issue.

We don't understand each other: I thought that you refered to Physical way to fix problems (someone needs to punish them in some way,) , sorry i'm at work so i'm not reading well.
I realize that there is a lot of options, i just want team 5 to develop a simple button to send LOG.txt of the chat so they could investigate and fukn ban those people for a day/a week/a month. A lot of games do that, a lot of games and platform hide offenses so why not Hearthstone?
I am playing with a different account sometimes and I can say that the rigged matchmaking isn't a thing for new players. I can't play with that account so much and it doesn't have so much cards. Although the account is under level 20, I can face golden heroes. This is really ridiculous and Blizzard is still telling about "standard mode will be the best option for new players"
No it is not. Standard was for only b2p and making money and they succeeded at it.
If the new player is not active player, matchmaking system punishes him so much. Rigged system pasts for 1 or 2 week. Guess what? neither you are active nor not you can't collect enough cards to face those tier1-3 decks.
I usually don't speak for ranked but as you know casual play also has tons of tier1-3 decks and it really bothers me.
There must be a channel system in-game which players can find someone to duel and which players can form a group to play their homebrew decks etc. or a group for new players. it is easy to make that. You can set some limits with maximum levels or maximum wins or sth. like that.
That "can't reach other players" and "can't speak with opponent" system hurts the game so much and mostly hurts the new players.
Solutions;
- Create an active players chat system which we can form groups
- Make wild packs buyable with any source; in-game gold, real money etc.
- Bring adventures back
- Make a new standard rotation which includes wild sets like; 1st season - ) Classic + Naxxramas, Karazhan + GvG, KotFT, Boomsday, Witchwood ( Classic + 4 expansions + 2 adventures ) 2nd season - ) Classic + Karazhan , LoE + K&C, Witchwood, Un'goro, Boomsday ( Classic + 4 expansions + 2 adventures ) (which 2 expansions and 1 adventure are the newest ones.)
for this change seasons must be set for 3 months for one season not 1 month for one season.
- More free stuff for new players ( I am playing since beta and i really don't want free stuff, just for new players)
- Achievement system which can reward players just ONCE.
Standard system ruins a great game. It must be changed like what I described above. This is the most important thing to be changed. Older expansions must be a thing. It is so ridiculous to condemn people who starts after those expansions has gone standard.
Memedeck-seeker. Always tries to build new decks. Hates tournements, streamers, netdecks and poor-o players. ah, but a tournement mode could be great !!!

Cool but a lot of things ruin the "money grabber system" of Blizzard... I agree that standard is a ruined system that punish a lot. In wild there are broken cards but a lot of player just play for fun with stupid meme ahha
I have a very different experience. I mostly play casual because I switch decks often but hardly ever run into people BM'ing. I see people spamming threats or roping each turn, but they're few and far in between. I add people when I really enjoy a match and I've been called BM'er because I emote 'Well played' into 'thank you' when I have lethal. It's really ridiculous to construe something like that as bad manners, it is the exact opposite.
@OP, I kinda agree to being able to report but imagine the work it will bring for the admins. It will be a very expensive endeavor due to the increased labour costs and Activision-Blizzard will likely increase prices. I personally would prefer to have real chat, but not if it'd increase preorder prices.
Nah, consider an automated program that read your chat log.txt: Someone clearly said Fuck, Retards ecc ? The program recognize this and send the log to the forum of blizzard ( there is moderator and admin). In some days, they can choose: Ban. or Not ban.
(It's easy to develop a system like that, Habbo change the bad words in BOBBA for example)
Adding my 2 cents. I think one of the best solutions would be to create a new ranks from 25 to 30. Before I will get my head smashed down by angry folks who will bash me for "such stupid idea" hear me out pls xD
You can be dropped in these ranks if your account is lets say 3 months old at max (of course we can change that number to 2,4 or any other). That way, you won't face golden heroes at these ranks and you will be matched against same new players that have similar collection in terms of dust like you. That Idea can be transfered to Arena and Casual too.
So basically what I'm suggesting is "Baby" ranks for new accounts where they can gain some experience if they want and the will be safe here. Of course they can climb to higher ranks, but I think it would be pretty cool to know that you have some place where your small collection will matter. That soultion would actually be pretty cool and both Standart and Wild would feel way more fresh for new players. They are already getting few freebies (If only I had them when I was beggining in 2015 T-T xD) and a lot of events which increase gold and dust are here (Just in Summer we had Toki,Fire Festival and now Day of KoFT)

They don't get those freebies. All of us getting those freebies. I mean I'm ok with it since I was f2p until boomsday from beta. But with those events richs are getting richer and poors getting poorer.
I mean, There should be more freebies for newbies and older players can't achieve those. Like the game also rewards old players with some exclusive rewards like older card backs etc.

Giving them too much freebies might not end well. They need to try mechanics and few shiny legendaries befoire jumping to meta decks. I mean you are also not givin a 1 month baby a fork so he can eat cause that is too overwhelming and in his current stadium he rather have something more simplier like his mouth to suck milk. But definitelly not fork (I was trying my best to give an example lol xD)
Well the truth is that it's pretty hard for new players to build decent decks i came back to the game last summer after 2-3 years with a new account started from 0. I think the game provides you with more packs thatn it used to but its still pretty hard cuz there are many expansions already out .. first deck i build was midrange hunter and it took me about a month to get all the dust i needed the cost was about 6000 dust i think. Then i fell in love with mill rogue after 2 months and started paying money for packs i paid about 100 euro in total.
Now about the Emotes its true the emotes is the most annoying thing in the game i remember grinding in 20-15 ranks and the most of my opponents would spam emotes especially aggro players Greetings every minute. I have seen some stupid people saying that emoting is part of the game like bluffing and things like this. That's stupid cuz if it was it wouldn't have the squelch button in the first place.
All we ask is for them to find a better way for players to get dust or cards quicker cuz you can't play the same decks for so long it becomes really boring and an Auto-squelch button in settings its has been suggested so many times i don't even know why they don't make it. I don't think that is so hard :)

2nd season - ) Classic + Karazhan , LoE + K&C, Witchwood, Un'goro, Boomsday ( Classic + 4 expansions + 2 adventures ) (which 2 expansions and 1 adventure are the newest ones.)
for this change seasons must be set for 3 months for one season not 1 month for one season.
- More free stuff for new players ( I am playing since beta and i really don't want free stuff, just for new players)
- Achievement system which can reward players just ONCE.
Standard system ruins a great game. It must be changed like what I described above. This is the most important thing to be changed. Older expansions must be a thing. It is so ridiculous to condemn people who starts after those expansions has gone standard.

ah, but a tournement mode could be great !!!
Cool but a lot of things ruin the "money grabber system" of Blizzard... I agree that standard is a ruined system that punish a lot.
In wild there are broken cards but a lot of player just play for fun with stupid meme ahha

Nah, consider an automated program that read your chat log.txt: Someone clearly said Fuck, Retards ecc ? The program recognize this and send the log to the forum of blizzard ( there is moderator and admin). In some days, they can choose:
Ban. or Not ban.
(It's easy to develop a system like that, Habbo change the bad words in BOBBA for example)
It's pretty easy to determine what is
