i have recently created a new account, trying to dust NOTHING and to invest more in therms of money. The other account is ruined because i pretty much play meta decks (not netdecking but hey i have shudderwock).
It's 1 month today, my resume is:
New player doesn't have cards. And this is ok, it's part of being new.
New player receive some freebies (cool freebies) and the facility to get in 40 packs (10 per espansion) legendary in their first packs.
New player have a restricted pool in the matchmaking system (for a bit)
There isn't a point 4
Now the problems:
In a week or two, new player will face Tier 1 decks (played bad but still tier 1 decks) that will crush every budget deck they created.
Ladder is full of senior player that play only for "fun" using powerful decks just to win easy against new poor players
There is a slow (too slow) sense of growing. You can't be good in a month, you need more cards (without DE nothing)
People are very hostile to you, the "emoting" is by far more than in low ranks. In 56 games in ladder so far, 45 of them was against hard emoting players.
People that have more luck than you in the KOFT first game basically win. I got Valeera (love her since KOFT). Who get Jaina/guldan, usually just win everytime. Because the first months you will play some aggro deck and facing Jaina/Gul'dan recovering a lot of hp using a lot of high cost cards just make impossibile to win. (i'm speaking both for casual and ladder)
You can't really do anything. There is the adventure, but them won't give you anything. new players want to get some cards. Arena is very hard for everyone. Imagine for a new player.
The grind is PURE... Grinding grinding grinding... For what? 100 gold at day? Is a bit weak as reward.
How can someone enjoy a game like this? I mean, if you manage to get only good cards and have luck to get only good quests (from 60g to 100g) okk then... But if you have an average luck, finding not standalone cards (like Valeera in my case or Alanna) you can't really play anything because the casual pool and ladder matchmaking put you against full of leg/epics decks...
I think Team 5 should improve this, ok the freebies but pls make an huge pool for new players, like a rigged matchmaking with filter:
Oh, now i want to face a deck with these filter enabled: *Only budget
Or maybe only common and rare ecc
This will improve at least casual experience for new player without a collection.
--
Then, Team 5 could improve the 10 gold per 3 win system. Why not make them 15 per 3 wins? In a long view is very good, in 18 win per day you have 100... Also toggle the limit cap at 100. If i want to grind every day/seconds what make you sad? That i could not shop because i have a lot of golds?
Last thing, maybe very important IMAGE IN ATTACHMENTS:
I was playing some casual game using a midrange hunter deck, i was against druid... This dude starts emoting everytime he can ( i not squelched him just because i don't get mad with this kind of player, i just don't care... they are funny thinking that they are cool)
At the end of the game, i added you just to give him an example of "be a nice person" but as you can see in the image, i got a "fuk you gne gne".
So, i think that hearthstone put pressure in people... I just don't know why but several people have bad behaviour playing this game, if they could do something bad they will do. If they could cheat Brawl copy n paste wild deck (remember the bug lol), they will do. When you add other players, is not important who won... You are a "piece of sheat little kid with classik deck". I think there must be a psicological study for this behaviour related to Human...
What do you think about this? i want that both senior and new player see this.
No, you can't enjoy a crap since the game is paywall.
Kids who use parent's money are everywhere.
I don't blame "paying to have more"... I also put some money in this game. i blame that who don't pay, have a year behind to get something playable at rank 10.
About the last point, I wish there was some way to report those type of people. I played again an all golden odd rogue with my control warrior at rank 4. He emotes hello and threats every moment his emote is enabled. Like you, I don't really care, I just emote well played back every now and then. He wins, and I add him, saying, good game and all, but emoting constantly is annoying, why do you do that. He replies "your deck is trash, don't waste my time pussy" and removes me...

Now say all of that without crying. How about you stop playing a game you don't enjoy. Good luck finding a mainstream card game that you are entitled to everything.

What? I'm crying? Where? I don't realize that I sound sad. Also, I enjoy the game, also using 2 account i have the possibility to make cool decks. You don't understand the meaning of this Thread, and you comment without a reason. I'm not here looking for free things from blizzard, as i said i put money in this game and i don't regret it. The problem is for who can't
Kids these days just want to provoke. It's easy to be arrogant in the internet. That's the way i see it. Just ignore dimwits like that. Say "Hello", maybe a "well played" and walk away.
Who cares about internet crybabies... I, for myself have bigger problems than that.
So, I really started playing in january, though I had played a few times before that.
Assuming a new player doesn't want to pay anything or not much, I think the following tips may help:
- Play every brawl: it's a pack after the win (and sometimes even after a game)
- Get your daily quests, they are not that hard to get and if they are, jus cycle them.
I'm not saying: cycle for higher rewards, but cycle for the "play X Hunter cards" or "play x mechs"
These are easy to obtain so give you that "win" feeling.
- Try to get to level 20 and of course the 5 wins. it will give you dust.
- Find a budget deck, which you probably have a lot of cards for anyway and start playing that.
- Understand, that even the best players lose games, and they are better and have all the cards.
I noticed, that I got tilted, because I lost games going to a goal (say get rank 15)
Set your goals to: "play 10 games a day". They should be goals that are easy to meet and will make you a better player overall.
The main thing, is that this is a game (though people tend to forget that) and that means that the goal is to win games, the purpose however is to have fun.
If you only have fun when you are winning, I suggest you get good very fast.

Of course we have more problems, there is a real life out here... I just dream a Team 5 that cares about the real problem of Hearthstone:
*Be a new player, or have a fresh account
*Reporting service and insta ban (from log of chat)
*Now i don't remember other things
Because the "balance" is a thing now (Druid a bit overpowered but still)
You already have an option to squelche. I know, that might not satisfy you, but i don't think it's yours, mine, or "Team 5"s job to educate the people. Really, get over it. Enjoy the game, the cards/decks you can create and ignore the rest. The Chances of meeting "real" friends in an online game are nearly 0 percent.

This is the basic of being F2P, not my case... last year, when i was F2P it was very easy to get at rank 10 because i disenchanted everything to make the old Midrange Hunter (rip Kittens 1/1). Without disenchanting nothing new players will have a deck, but they lose everything else... Now ays to make fun decks, to actually ejnoy the game without the purpose of WIN and GRIND, but just to play Tess with allucination

And this is sad, i love when you find nice people online because the distant is ZERO in game.

I think we speak a different language here. I have never given a shit about others in the internet. The distance is and will always be the same. If you really need someone. I don't speak about emotional support here, just to be clear.
Did you read what I wrote? I don't squelch becuase I honestly don't mind that much. I played out the game, added him, congratulated him on the well played game, and asked him out of curiousity why he does that. I'm assuming either past tilt, or actually just liking to BM for whatever reason, but I wanted to hold him somewhat accountable by actually talking to him. And he responds with "your deck is trash, don't waste my time pussy."
You're really not being constructive in this thread. The OP outlined the new player experience (we all have much better experiences since we we've been able to build up from earlier in the game) and he's honsetly asking what people think about it. He gives his own thought that it's not good enough, and why he thinkgs so. But instead of actually giving some sort of argument, you just attack him and defend the game without any sort of points.
So you friend requested a stranger who was spamming emotes to ask him why he does that? Ahahahahaha, what did you think was going to happen? Do you think by sending him a friend request he would all of a sudden care about your feelings?
You omitted the monetary amount you invested in that account. Not saying you have to divulge that kind of information, but if you are trying to make a point with all of this, more information should be present.
If there was no monetary investment, the entire Grind point is irrelevant. This is a game, a product you buy to enjoy on your free time. You can play it for free because of their business model, but doing so means you have to spend a lot of your time grinding to acquire what the money investment would get you upfront.
They could and should improve the entire system to reward every player (Gold acquisition is really slow even looking at it as someone who spent a ton of money in the game, I'd still appreciate a faster acquisition rate just to complete each set a little faster, I'm not going to spend even more per set), but even if they do change it and improve it, it will never be anywhere near a rate where a Free account will not feel like progression is a grind because that is how Free to Play models work.
The first main account like 200€ This new, just the welcome bundle and some arena runs (like 15 i don't remember)

Well, I invested 2000$ in this game in 4 years and to be honest I am not happy either. This game always make you mad somehow no matter what decks you are playing. Get used to it.
For new players I think Spell hunter is a good deck to play. Not to much of an investment, can be aggressive or defensive and ok late game
