It's like poker. If there was no luck involved, bad players would eventually stop playing the Rank 20 would be as hard as legend.
The amount of luck on a game like poker is absolutely fine, there's always gonna be luck on card games and that's expected, you can get an amazing hand on poker and it fits perfectly on almost a scary order with the table but you also need a lot of skill and knowledge to play poker, you have to play with your opponent's brain, play with your emotions and anxiety, you have to know when to pass, when to bet, when to meet your opponent's bet and when to raise, when should you fold your hand even tho it looks ok and when to hold it cause you might get a ridiculous winner on the last 1 or 2 cards. Also you HAVE to know the Hand order ranking or luck is shit, Poker is a game where luck is an important factor but skill will always be rewarded on the mid to long run, Hearthstone is a game where Skill matters but luck is a stupid huge factor that rewards you on the short to mid run which makes it frustating af.
I lose to people who make minor-ish misplays too, but I don't make an over-dramatic complaint thread every time it happens. Whats the point of this thread?
This should have been posted in the salt thread, there really isn't much discussion to be had from this.
Hearthstone has always been based on rng (and I'm not talking about the natural and fundamental 'draw rng' of card games).
Even just looking at vanilla HS we had:
Rag coin flips, hitting the best/worst targets and/or hitting/missing lethal when you needed it.
Sylvannas hitting best/worst targets during scenarios when you couldn't manipulate the outcome well enough.
Arcane Missiles all hitting face or completely hitting minions.
Mad Bomber (Just watch Kripp in arena for this one and you'll understand)
Thoughtsteal getting good or worthless cards.
Totem lotto, enough said there.
Lightning Storm high and low rolls.
Tinkmaster memes
Ysera dream cards
Warrior Brawl rng
The game has always had varying degrees of rng determining outcomes of games, people just like to complain about the most recent additions to rng and act like expansion X, Y, Z started making the game a coin flip.
Sorry OP, you probably are right but people here will INSTANTLY defend the winner. You could have a video to prove but then the “you uploaded a doctored video” comments would flood in. I feel your pain that Blizzard wants noobs to feel like they’ve improved so the “random RNG” swings in their favor more than you perceive it happening for you. Just remember that ranked means nothing. All the Legend players do that others don’t is spend way too much time playing. Never believe the ones that say they got to legend with a 26-2 streak. Complete and utter horse pucky LOL!
It's like poker. If there was no luck involved, bad players would eventually stop playing the Rank 20 would be as hard as legend.
Don’t say shit man. Poker is skill based. Hearthstone no, it is very very few skill based. Have you ever seen a poker turnament with bad players? No. Have you have ever seen a bad hearthstone player at legend or in a turnament? So this is the difference. Poker is poker.
In the short term, luck can play a major factor in both. In the long term, skill determines success in both. Yes, bad players can get lucky and make it far in poker tournaments, which is what draws them in. In Hearthstone, no, because the bare minimum to get into a major HS tournament is long term results. The bare minimum requirement to get into a poker tournament is paying your buyin.

"He made at least 3 misplays i can count and still won the game with my cards!!"
> and how much misplay did YOU do ? Thats the real question there. Cause if manage to win after 2 entire turn doing nothing against a full board... Yeah you probably did something wrong
lol maybe. ill post the replay and you guys can tell me where i went wrong.

yah i was trying to make more of a point about the polarity of HS and also what disgusts me about it, also attracts me too. Its how I finished the post. Anyways, its been enjoyable and Im open to the fact that maybe i made a bunch of misplays too. Im gonna post the replay and let you all roast me on the stake.

the point, is that the thing that disgusts me about the game, is also it allure. Its charm. Everyone hates losing to Shuddershuck bullshit, yet most dont mind playing it. I was trying to bring some levity to my discouragement about losing the game. Its just a thread and post on a chat room. Not trying to save the world here. Just discuss the game.

update, i checked my reply and i didnt have the board on 5 like i said. He actually cleared my board on 4. the board was empty on 5. but basically he copied and played my win condition and i didnt even draw anyone them in time. so i guess my honor is saved by a thin margin then? lol
I’d say Hearthstone Pros are very Intelligent, ( aren’t Muzzy and Bunnyhoppor working on their Docktor? I might be wrong there) , sure there is a lot of rng involved and like in Poker they can get unlucky.
But comparing them to Pokerplayers kinda makes sense . In Hearthstone the preparation is probably more important Tournament wise tho.
It's like poker. If there was no luck involved, bad players would eventually stop playing the Rank 20 would be as hard as legend.

Actually it's a good analogy. In Poker, skill shows itself over many games, but in any one hand you can do everything right and lose to a lucky player doing everything wrong. Same thing in Hearthstone. And pretty much every card game.
If you think that you are a kid. Poker champions are champions. There are poker champions with 3 degrees. If you see a poker champion this is a person who has spent and has won millions of money. So this person is a champion because is actually living with the poker. An Hearthstone’s “champion” is a kid who spend 15 hours per day playing hearthstone and reached legend. You know the bigger difference? In hearthstone you can be a champion if you have time and you are a nerd kid. And this is math. You are bad but you are playing 15 hours per day a deck with 55% win rate and you will be an Hearthstone “champion”. With poker in this way you will go on bankruptcy, so you are a champion if you are skilled. Compare Daniel Negreanu with Kolento and you will see the difference.
Dude you really took that up the ass. There really isn't much difference other than the gambling aspect of poker and the deck building aspect of the TCG. Both involve mind games, bluffing, reading your opponent. Both you can win completely by luck. There's no more "skill" in poker than Hearthstone, sorry to burst your bubble.
Have you ever play poker or watch a tournament? I did it. In poker you can’t win with luck. You can win an hand but not a tournament this is your dream. Poker is a game for men. Hearthstone is a game for pussy kids. I like hearthstone but it is a game with no or practically 0 skill. It is fun and ok. Nothing compare to Poker. Poker is a skilled card game where there are real champions.
It's like poker. If there was no luck involved, bad players would eventually stop playing the Rank 20 would be as hard as legend.

You don’t know anything about poker man. When a person puts the 2 words near poker and hearthstone I became mad. How can you campare a game that is played by men were there are millions money involved. These people have shown for years to be champions being on par with their expenses. There a books of poker strategy there are also psychology around the poker, ability to read the cards, strong use of math and statistic. You are comparing these with Hearthstone. Are you crazy? Hearthstone an RNG based game played by kids with the milk on the first mustache?
You are one of these kids, otherwise you are totally out of mind, or you have no idea what poker is.
