I'm sorry, this could be taken as a bit mean spirited but I mean it in the most literal of terms.
If $80 constitutes a "huge paywall" for you, perhaps you have more pressing concerns in your life than the next alternate hero skin.
Calm down there wannabe badass. There are countries in the world where $80 is half their monthly income. Even in the western world 80$ are a lot of money for a good portion the population. I know that because because i was one of them as student. Now that i earn twice the average income of my country i can easily afford the bundle even if it had 3 times the price. Your attitude however is the attitude of those who have not worked a single day in their lives OR of those who had everything prepared for them by their parents. If you had faced and overcomed any real adversity by your own you would not be so arrogant.
In North America, I always spend about $130 on each new set (max), at least every other expansion (I can usually hoard enough gold to cover the $80 about every other one, so just $50 on those). This is right on my $130 cycle, and will be more than I have ever gotten for that amount (of any new set). So, great deal for me. I could care less about skins, that's just gravy for me.
In Asia and Europe, I am strictly free to play and have been for so long, that like other FTPers have said, I can make about any deck (usually more than one) I want. So the preorder deals have no impact on me there at all (as one who doesnt care about the skin).
I realize its different for everyone, not trying to say everyone should feel one way or another. Just saying, for me, the guys who explained why this is either inconsequential (for FTPers who dont care about skins) or a great deal (for those who spend at least $130 each time anyway), they are correct. It is a slightly less good deal for that middle tier that only spends $50 a set, and for whom $80 is a stretch, or for FTPers who really want the skin (although they have backpedaled on not making them available later, before).
In the case of the slightly worse deal for the $50 bundle, I figure they tried the better deal to see if it would increase the player pool and participation enough to raise overall sales and make up for their increased giveaway and it probably didn't. Might have even made Witchwood slightly less profitable of a set for them. This structure is more likely to take some players who have traditionally bought only the preorder (or at least no more than $100 worth total) and a segment of those who can afford it are going to spend more. There is almost no way this doesnt raise their sales figures, as there would have to be a ton of people quitting entirely over it. Dont see that happening.
So, it seems like an overall smart choice to me. I agree I would have liked it even better if they had kept the 70/50 ratio, but I like this deal plenty as is.

I don't think Shadowrisen is trying to be a "badass" at all. He's merely stating the obvious. If $80 is too much for you to spend on entertainment, by definition, you have more pressing concerns in life. There's nothing inherently "spoon-fed" about the situation. And "not working a day in a your life" clearly has nothing to do with it, since working most of the days of your life is a perfectly legitimate way to obtain the $80 needed for the mega-bundle.

I think it's also interesting to consider that perhaps they gave us a better deal because they knew the Witchwood cards were, on average, of lower power level than most sets. At least, that seems like a plausible scenario to me.

Brah, you're talking to people with jobs and disposable income. The ones who haven't worked a single day are the ones acting entitled.
Second of all the bundle isn't meant for people who don't make enough money to afford it. This is kind of how everything is in the world. Every fucking consumer product is this way. News flash, poor fucks aren't buying Lambos either. I seriously wonder how you people come up with your arguments.
How I miss WoW where I could put in countless of hours of game time for only the cost of a sub and no micro transactions on the game shop and be able to earn all sorts of cool mounts, armor, pets, titles, weapons, fun reuseable items, etc for what I put into the game.
Hearthstone? Wooo!!!! I get to earn all sorts of cool cosmetics if I give in and purchase expensive micro transactions. Oh excuse me, MEGA transactions! ;)
With all of the replayability and goodies I could earn for my time spent in WoW it is a big wonder why I quit the game and hoped that HS might be smart enough to do something similar. Nope, go whale or go home.
I never cease to be amazed at how bent out of shape people get over cosmetic stuff like hero skins.
If I never played a game like WoW for years I might agree with you. However, knowing that in WoW you could put in work anywhere from minimal to super tryhard hardcore and get tons of various cosmetics (which makes you more invested in the work you've put into your account), and then start seeing HS turning more and more cosmetics into micro transactions (that you can't even purchase seperately for a fee less than 80+ dollars) it shows how much of a crotch-blow that is to make money. Apparently preorder and in game pack purchases isn't appropriate enough for the business model.
Skin aside, 80 for 80 is a good deal + 1 Golden Legendary + card back. Its smart and I was hoping they would do something like this.
I'm on board with this guy. It's sounds pricey but it's really a fair deal. A dollar per pack, $10 for a golden legendary which if they did have a value they're worth $50 on their own, and $10 for a skin which is the same price as the other skins. But I do hope they make Mecha-Jaraxxus an optional skin purchase in the shop after Boomsday's release.
You can call Blizzard greedy and you'll be right. But sometimes I feel that some part of this game's community is even greedier. Hearthstone is 100% playable without ANY real money investments and these cosmetics aren't even affecting the gameplay in any way, yet people still complain that some of them are more exclusive than others. OP... why?
It's a comparative deal to Witchwood's 70 packs for $49.99, because it includes a golden Legendary in EACH bundle. Most people who buy the $80 bundle would have spent at least that amount on packs anyway. Everyone still receives free rewards upon the release date.
I don't see a problem with rewarding players who pay money for the game with a non-competitive bonus, such as a hero portrait. There's nothing inherently wrong with that business model.
Also, it offers an alternate Warlock skin for people who still might not be able to travel to a Tavern Brawl event for the Nemsy offering.
I so agree magic the gathering u buy box 100+ and u hope u get one good card out of it and I done that so many times wasting money on boxes trying to get good cards. I never made real competitive deck and I only played with friends mostly but I spent the money to hope for more cards. Same goes to hearthstone I spend the money so I can keep up with meta even tho I don’t play to rank up or anything
We do with our cash whatever we want. Who do you think you are thinking that you are entitled to tell us "don't spend your money as you see fit"... Damn i hate this posts...
Stop whining like little kids! If you don’t like it don’t buy it. Simple. Why throw a fit over something you’re not gonna get? If enough people don’t buy this they’ll know to not do it again. If if enough people do oh well just don’t buy it.
People are acting like this is mandatory dlc you have to pay for.

Did you somehow miss the fact that they are making Hearthstone to make some money? Is it wrong to try to make a living out of your business?
Fucking rekt.
Holy shit I'll call the burn ward for you.

I'm a f2p player, that's far enough for a virtual time-consuming game like this ...
Left alone spending 80$ for getting a virtual skin
Keyword here being "virtual" ...

See if THIS happened, then I'm ready to pick up my pitchfork and burn down Blizzards offices.
fucking over 100 dude absolutely ridiculous

A company wants to make mowny so it can pay employees and create more games. How evil is that.
