I think the 50 normal bundle is better than the Witchwood 70 packs bundle.
The golden legendary is worth 1600 dust. To get that amount you will need to A) Open a golden legendary within those 20 extra packs (very unlikely) or B) dust 4 legendaries (very unlikely to open within 20 packs as well).
You get that golden legendary before even opening the packs, and with the free one from login, that's slightly better from WW bundle to help increase the chances of you getting the legendary you really want because of no dupes rule.
At least that's how I'm seeing it. Don't really care for the hero portrait, specially at this price.
you know what would make a lot of players happy? smaller bundles of the same value.
So what you're really saying is reduce the price of the normal card packs. Since they are the smaller "bundles" you speak of.
So what you're saying is LITERALLY that you're a Blizzard shill? See, I can make ridiculous accusations and leaps in logic too!
I'm saying a $20 20-pack bundle would be awesome.
I think a 20 for 20 deal would be nifty. It would help a lot more people actually get to spend a little on packs that don't have enough gold but want to open a bunch still and be part of the pack opening day fun. Do you think it would be cool if they made this something people can buy into infinitely, five times or once?
That's one of the few, small issues I see here. The extra option that is the second bundle and the option given to buy both bundles, they aren't affordable for everyone. You know, as much as it's nice to have the option to buy one or both of these bundles, the Get In Here! bundle was 10 packs for $8, and you could buy that bundle infinitely. Granted, it was 2 packs from each of five sets/expansions, so it wasn't all from one set, however, they have shown us they can put together a 20 for 20 bundle. Honestly, that should probably be where the card back is being hosted. In the future, if they were to do this, I think it'd be nifty to do 20 for 20 with the card back, 50 for 50 with a Golden Legendary+card back, and if people like, maybe switch it around so the Golden Legendary comes with an 80 for 80 deal, with an Alternate Hero being part of the 50 for 50 instead of the Golden Legendary, making the GL something that you get if you intend on spending more. I think this could be the appropriate way to package everything. It's different bonus items added to your bucket at 30 dollar/pack increments.
So people spent a load of money on an expansion they have only seen what, 6 cards of? What if the expansion ends up being crap? What if the meta is still dominated by the same old archetypes and you just needed few dust to craft a few new epics to make your decks a bit stronger?
OP's points are kinda meh to be honest, he really misses the point that everyone is buying a preorder for an expansion they have barely seen any cards of, mostly because of the golden .gif image slapped on it. What if the expansion ends up being very weak and everyone got baited because of that? Yes, it could also end up being very op too and what not, but shouldn't everyone be a bit more rational and less compulsive, and analyze the expansion a bit better instead of jumping on the golden stuff bandwagon right away? That is my biggest gripe here, people really just mindlessly throwing their money to things they don't even know. Since Blizzard is Blizzard it can't just run away with your money or some scam like that, but there's still a chance this just ends up being a filler expansion, which is more or less the same.
Yes, I get it, people can do whatever they want with their money, but they should really think twice before trying to give incentives to any industry to do bad practices that could end up horribly.
You are playing this game for free. You expect to have everything in the game for free. Dont be salty just bc u cant have a hero skin. The game couldnt exist without the peuplr who pay. So they ate rewording them for investing. This is coming from e f2p player.

I actually did touch on the point of "what if the expansion is crap" in the OP if you read it all. It was on the "It's a good deal" and "I'm gonna buy it anyway" bullet points.

I buy every expansion. There are always good cards and bad cards. This is pretty much the only game i play. I try to play console games with my kids now, and they just don't do it for me(other than Madden).
I know, I know, but the main focus seems to be mostly about the paywall itself more than anything else, which is what makes it looks like a salty rant and possibly the reason why people just got so toxic and defensive about it.
It sucks, but critical thinking isn't a thing most people really do.

See, at least you make some reasonable points about it. Again, people can do whatever they want with their money and all that. And if that were always your plans, that's great. But the people that go "OOHH SHINY GOLDEN SKIN I MUST PREPURCHASE ONLY CHANCE TO GET IT!!!", yeah, that's my problem. They are just falling for a trick. Yes, you can legitimately want the skin too because it's cool and all of that, but a lot of people just get hooked with the "LIMITED TIME OFFER!!!!" thing so much, it almost feels like a marketing strategy to boost the sales on a random expansion that could just be filler you know?

I work in marketing. Every thing a company does is a marketing strategy. The words "Sale" "exclusive" "act now" ect ect are all psychological triggers our retail/consumption minds have been conditioned to respond to....it works too.
Sorry to say, but thats the most stupid post ive ever read on this forum!
For years people are crying here, that blizzard has given not enough options for bigger bundles and free stuff... nowadays they give Beginner bundle, timewalker event etc.... giving so much stuff to the community they dont had to, and the game would be still fine with that.
How dare you to say, thats "going to far" now ppl will buy stuff they wont do otherwise... i dont see brainwash or sth... and the fact that they want the skin is still up to their own decision... its still cosmetic - this is what we call ungratefulness for options given
thank you very much Original Poster for giving this feedback to the DEvs who will probably read this, go back and might stop beeing that nice to the community that much

@Foshizzel17: I'm in the same boat. I put money into one game. This one. And I'm ok with that. I buy what I can afford and grid out the rest, and I agree. There's gonna be good cards and bad ones. And I'm ok with that too :)
To others: I understand that it's frustrating how this game can soak up so much money (I really, really do wish that would tip the scales a little more in the consumers' favor. Hell, I wish we could just enjoy the game with a one time buy it, but that's not the model of CCGs). All that said, it's not like playing HS is compulsory and everyone must keep up or get sent to the mines. There's a lot of good games out there. This might be an unpopular opinion, but I'm ok with that too!
Blizzard markets the pre-orders the way it does because they have market research and promotional teams which know the best way to present this stuff to maximize profit. Yes, it is calculated, but I would expect no less from a company like them to have their shit together when it comes to this. They know exactly what way to offer things to maximize their profit. But so does every other business worth its salt. So why do they need to be painted as some kind of villains here?
I don't think these bundle options are a bad deal by any stretch, especially compared to previous pre-order bundles. To me, the Boomsday Project bundle is the most rewarding one yet in terms of what you get for your money. Yes, the Witchwood one had 20 more packs for the same $50, but the Boomsday bundle instead includes a guaranteed golden legendary that is 1,600 dust in your pouch at worst. With 50 packs you definitely won't have all the cards yet, so the dust value from cards of which you open more than 2 copies in those 20 additional packs would surely be less than 1,600 dust, unless you literally dusted every card in those 20 packs. At least this way you know you can be guaranteed 1,600 dust along with any dust you get from extras in your 50 packs to craft the cards YOU want, rather than get a random assortment of cards you may or may not use. That seems more valuable to players, especially those on limited budgets. On the plus side, maybe the golden legendary you get is one of the legendaries you were most excited to open. In that case it's even better! Of course that's just my opinion, but that's how I look at the situation as a player in my circumstance. This set is the most happy I've been to spend money on a pre-order as I feel it is worth the investment. Full disclosure: I pre-order basically every time, regardless of how many cards are previewed or how good they look. Be cynical and call me a shill or a moron or whatever you want, but I know that every set has good cards and stuff I want to play with, even if I don't exactly know what those cards are a month, weeks before, or even a week after the set releases.
This thread should have stopped after the first post. Trying to pair the buzzword of loot boxes and attach it to packs is like trying to pair the words shit and peanut butter for the sake of making an argument on "which is the more edible/healthy for you to consume".
First thing comes first, packs and loot boxes are -NOT- the same thing. At. All. Just ask Electronic Arts and WB about how their recent games turned out when they attempted to try and pull stunts to lock things necessary to the game play behind a their paywall, WHILE charging $60 to enjoy their game experience (you can see Star Wars Battlefront 2 and Middle Earth: Shadow of War for those examples). In Overwatch, there is a -option- to buy loot boxes for nifty skins during events and those are a HUGE gamble/investment for trying to get what you want... However it's an -option-.... No one is forcibly holding a gun to my skull or yours telling me or you to "buy these loot boxes or you can't play the game". Completely optional. If you sink your money into it for the gamble of getting -insert character here skin- and you don't get it, that's on you for sinking the money in and -gambling- to get that skin. You take a chance and you can lose out a lot of money. There -is- a gold option and they have held yearly events each year for certain skins and when the new event comes around, the older skins get discounted during that time to where if you have the gold, you can buy said skin. For example, I am a Reaper main, I want -all- of his skins. However, I don't -have- to spend $$ on trying to get his Halloween skin, the Biker skin, the Soldier 26 (even though I REALLY, reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaalllly wanted that skin at the time), etc, I'm given the option and temptation to drop $$ in for the gamble of it, but I also have the self control to go, you know what? Nope. That right there is a gamble I am not willing to take and make because there is no way I can properly say, "I will obtain this skin"
Now I can move over to the packs side of this discussion because THIS is where I will be most at home. I've played and enjoyed TCG's for a good chunk of my life growing up. Hell, I even would plant cards on the table and face off against people to win other cards. I also did business in the second hand market to make money to pay my bills and help build my decks. Games like Pokemon, Yugioh, and Magic (since they are the 3 titans in the TCG world) are what I like to call the "cardboard crack" games. It's not a slight against them, however, the prices of some of the cards for "meta decks" and just decks in general make the outcry that people have against Hearthstone laaaaaaaaaaaaughable.. Especially if you are a collector.... "$300 for this Blue-Eyes White Dragon? $600 for this deck because 3 cards in it cost 100+??" Yeah, people dropping upwards of $30-150+ for cards to be apart of the "meta" game in games like Yugioh and Magic, that's in the second hand market alone. IF and this is IF you are lucky enough to pull the uber card you want from that $4 pack that you take a risk and gamble on when you buy it, you won't have to worry about it. Otherwise, you're gonna cough up $4.25 per Yugioh pack OR drop $80 on 24 packs, praying you at least break even in the secondary market once it is all said and done or get the cards you want in 1 whack (which, HAHA, ain't gonna happen slick). Same can be said for Magic. Depending the meta game, you -could- walk into Wal-Mart, buy 3 starter decks of X game and have a go at competition, but if you're missing key cards, you still gotta cough up more, or pray for a sucker to come along to trade for the things you're missing.
With Hearthstone, it's an online CCG that's free to play. You have the ability to say "sure, I'll drop X amount of dollars on this game" ORRRRRRRRRRRRR you can play for free and literally take the time to craft and grind for your meta game deck. There are some cheap dust decks and then there's decks out there that are dust expensive and the beauty of it all, is that you have the choice on what you want to try and go for in this as well as other online card games. Cosmetics are just another thing that get tacked on to for companies to make $$ for people who want to sink in the money for these things because, "look at me, imma shiny shiny princess. weeeeee". No one is FORCING you to BUY -anything- in Hearthstone... Or Gwent.... Or Elder Scrolls.... Or Magic Alpha.... Or Duelyst... Or Shadowverse.... Or Fortnite..... Or -insert f2p game here-. You literally have freedom of CHOICE.
people (like OP) just dislike the idea lock a skin behind paywall and we have 16 pages of shitstorm like now
they are, last time it was 50$ for 70 packs, and don't even start with that golden legendary, that is worth a lot less then 20 packs, plus it is a price increase for the best card-pack and that's clear. how can you deny that?

The one underlining factor is that "it is what it is". There is nothing we can do about it and everyone is left with two very simple choices.
1). Open your wallet, or don't.
2). Keep playing, or quit playing.
Does it suck? Sure, but hey folks, that's life.

"plus it is a price increase for the best card-pack and that's clear". What ?
I will say one thing. Let them take this Mecha-Jaraxxus Warlock Hero and let us buy a The Mega Bundle without it for 65-70 euro.
I do not need this "thing" for happiness. I have a Nemsy and it's enough for me.
Yes, Mecha-Jaraxxus is stupid and has weak emotes.
This is a thread for kids or stupid bad players =)
Oh so that's why you are here.
