1. Everybody saying that "$80 for 80 packs is a great deal" is comparing the prices of HS preorder to HS regular prices, instead of looking at what that kind of money can get You in other games.
2. That being said, with all the grinding I do, I want to be able to access all of the games features and cosmetics. If I could buy Jaraxxus alone for $10 I would consider it, but since I get all the cards I need for gold, then I would essentially have to pay $80 JUST FOR THE HERO PORTRAIT because the 80 packs are pretty much worthless to me.
3. This is bullshit here. Tying content to extremely expensive bundles of shit that You might not even want or need.
4. If the only way to buy a $100,000 car was to buy $500,000 worth of McFlurrys would You consider that good deal? I wouldn't.
1. Of course they are comparing the price to the base price of packs. Most of these people have decided that Hearthstone is a game they prefer to other options, regardless of the in game economy of other games. So while for some people switching games to a cheaper game is an option, for others the perceived difference in fun/entertainment value of hearthstone is worth the increased valuation. Seems an odd point since I doubt many would argue money can go "farther" cardwise in other games. However the subjective nature of "fun/experience" is what people are really measuring with the value of their money.
2. This is absolutely fair - your desire is understandable, and the dedication required to grind admirable, I think the problem is moving from having a desire for this to the next people which implies Blizzard has an obligation to meet your desire. That being said as someone who bought the pre-order I would have no problem with giving others the option to buy to skin separate.
3. Here I disagree. If they had created a powerful Hero Card that impacted the meta and was exclusive to the pre-order that would be bullshit as it would directly go against their F2P model and lock competitiveness behind a paywall. However in a F2P game, the companies are somewhat limited to how they can effectively monetize the game without breaking this fundamental balance. Cosmetics are one of those ways, hence it seems only fair to me that a company can and should create desirable cosmetic options which they can provide as a perk or bonus or incentive to players who are willing to contribute monetarily. For example, if blizzard decided to hold a lottery among active accounts and the prize was some kind of cosmetic upgrade and it was exclusive to winners, I would say that was entirely within their rights. Why should I complain about a company giving a Bonus to whoever they desire if it does not impact the competitive environment. I encourage you to check the entitlement you seem to have to cosmetic features of the game (though I completely understand the desire to have access).
4. This is the strangest metaphor I have read in a while. It is so subjective. For me it's more like getting a $100,000 car for free when I buy a $1 million home for $800,000. In which case it feels like a great deal. That being said I understand how it would such to have the deal feel like the metaphor you gave. Thus I have sympathy for you.
Again for the sake of people like yourself, I hope they give the option to purchase the skin by itself (though I feel that would likely anger people too)
It's a lost cause OP. The shills and dipshits will buy this shit up in droves while fervently defending the practice while whining about the "whiners", and ActiBlizz will continue doing this since it will be a justified model.
There's a very good reason I haven't spent a dime on this game in over two years.
Those people complaining about the free golden legendary instead of 20 packs are the same ones that complain about not getting a legendary in 20 packs.
I personally believe this is a very very thought out setup. Cosmetic reward for dedicated players while giving more options for f2p and in betweeners. Instead of actually giving special cards they just do fancy customization.
If you spend x amounts of hours a year to play this game, you might as well pay something for it. If not, be f2p or choose another game. I am gladly paying 110 $ (amazon coins) and Ill enjoy the golden legendaries as well as a solid collection

I agree. Alt heroes behind paywalls (or whatever) do not bother me at all. 150€+ per year on top of doing all the quests/brawls to get most competetive decks it soo much, though. More of my friends (even many who spent real money on the game) are leaving than starting to play, and I think it is a common tendency. The economy of the game is built on the hardcore players who have lost track on what they actually get for their cash (like myself.)

Maybe I've lost track of what I actually get for my cash. But at the same time, I'm playing this game a lot. Probably averaging 1-2 hours a day (a conservative estimate some days, for sure). If I were to buy a brand new game every 4 months, I'd probably quit playing those games after one to two months. Very few games hold my attention past that. Also, I guess since I'm older now, I don't really have time to play a game that demands 100 hours of story play (looking at Nier Automata as an example, couldn't bring myself to get too far into that). I think the last game I actually feel I got money's worth out of was The Witcher 3. And to a lesser extent, Nioh.
I've played Hearthstone for years now (outside of a one and a half year break when I mostly tried to play League of Legends with friends haha). I actually think the $150 a year isn't all that bad.
I'm of the mind that I couldn't imagine being completely f2p to play this game, because spending money does increase the enjoyment, when you're playing as much as I do. I still just don't understand why everyone's so upset about losing out on a cosmetic. As I've mentioned earlier, I'm a little sad I don't have Khadgar or Tyrande, but it is still not worth a 20 page discussion haha. It's just the way it is.

Nobody is forcing anyone to do anything. Blizzard is selling there game with two options: an improved standard deal OR a premium deal OR both. I think I already get enough free stuff and special events as is (its way better than it was even just a year ago). So unless you're just whinny or greedy, you will get a good deal for whatever you want to spend.
You nailed it dude. I don't get the nonstop parade of bitching. This happens EVERY new set. If you don't have the money, or don't want to pay, then DONT BUY IT. Pretty simple.
I agree. But the bitching seems to be more than any other expansion. Now that there are MORE options (even though you have the same option as before plus a golden legendary on top), people are losing their minds. I'm sure a psychiatrist can explain this, something along the lines of feeling like you are missing out and it's not fair. More likely it's 16 year olds who haven't matured enough into the critical thinking necessary to comprehend the actual issue (or lack thereof) at hand.
This is just a big cash grab. I can't believe people still go for this ...
I find it interesting that you feel this is a cash grab. To me that implies you think Blizzard knows the game is failing and is trying to extract as much money from it as possible before it fails. That does not pass the smell test for me. They have so much more room to play with to try and prop up the game for a while longer before any cash grab would be logical. If that is true than this must be a very well thought out attempt to maximize profits according to current market value and demand. In which case, it is you who are underestimating the market value of this game and failing to realize that there will almost always be people who value the game more than you and blizzard will never make you happy.
i disagree. companies deserve tomake money. cosmetic changes are one of those ways. you sure put alot o effort and time into this minor detail. that energy would be better served fighting back against corrupt governments and fake news and the enviroment.
Jeez bro, its a video game. with cosmetic heroes some people dont mind paying for. its that easyand simple. go save a dolphin and relax about this cuz nothings gonna change.
I received Lunara for free after completing a quest. I demand that Blizzard do the same for every other skin. Other, even easier methods may be used as well, winning a bunch of games was a bit time consuming for a cosmetic item after all.
I am also outraged by these bundles that I can freely choose to buy or not buy. OUTRAGED I SAY! Why should other people be able to spend their own money however they choose when I choose to play Hearthstone for free. Tempting me with reasonably priced bundles is a slap in the face.
You will continue to not receive any money from me Blizzard. I can only hope you recognize your mistake and give me(I suppose some other people as well)all your future content for free or else I might and go spend no money on some other game.
Like most have said it's part of playing a "freemium" game.....and this one is better than most, many people play f2p and are able to be at least semi-competitive, and at the end of the day $80 is a lot but not a bank breaker. Most games you purchase for $60 Will require you to invest another 15-40 within the first 6-months of release for an expansion. No one is forcing you to purchase the mega bundle, it's available for people who would like to spend money on buying the pre-release. I get the worry of increasing prices but if people boycott or everyone opts to not purchase cards then HS will cease to exist. The money we spend on the game goes to further develop the game and provide us with new and exciting content.....and unfortunately the prices for everything go up over time, no way to avoid it.

Personally i like the fact Hearthstone is starting to have more rare and enclusive items that’s what makes things more cherished and sought after. This entitled attitude that every single thing needs to be made brain dead easily available to everyone is exactly what killed World of Warcraft.
The issue here is that a lot of all of this is subjective and opinion based. To say that pre-ordering is terrible, $80 is a ton of money, or that the bundle is a bad deal, etc., etc. is just an opinion. There is no authority that says who is right or wrong. One person feels that these bundles are completely reasonable and another thinks it is highway robbery. The truth is that these are only opinions and each person's feelings on them will be different depending on their circumstances. I personally don't mind that they offer extra content for those willing to pre-order a special bundle. How is this any different from "Collector Edition" versions of other games available for pre-order? That is a practice that has been around for two decades now.
At no point did Blizzard ever promise anyone the ability to get everything in Hearthstone via a free method. Blizzard never said definitively one way or another how alternate heroes would be introduced into the game. Some are paid, some are free via achievements, and some are acquired via a charity. Blizzard is not betraying anyone or acting in bad faith here because there was never any kind of officially established method they were going to introduce them. They are free to decide how to introduce new content into the game. If you don't like it, that's fair and you can choose to react accordingly with your wallet/time, etc., but to come at it from the opinion that Blizzard owes you something (in this case the ability to get an alternate hero skin) is pure entitlement. The game may be free to play, but that doesn't mean all content is free.
It's a lost cause OP. The shills and dipshits will buy this shit up in droves while fervently defending the practice while whining about the "whiners", and ActiBlizz will continue doing this since it will be a justified model.
There's a very good reason I haven't spent a dime on this game in over two years.
If fewer people buy it, they might eventually lower the prices.
So far they have been giving more gold/dust and made the real-money deals more generous, but not cheaper.
If they think they can make more money by lowering the prices, they will!
Yeah, but again, not if people don't give them a reason to lower them. The thing about Activision-Blizzard is there's Activision in the name.

Its NOT 80 packs for 80, its 130 packs for 80 and 2 Golden legs
How come? You need to pay for both bundles separately to get 130 packs...
