Shudderwock isn't good because of the body, it's good because of the chain of battlecries. I don't think Omega Defender will see play in Shudderwock. What card in current Shudderwock lists is Omega Defender better than?

Life before death. Strength before weakness. Journey before destination.
But wouldn't it just be returned to your hand by Grumble? And think about what you'd be replacing? Saronite Chain gang? losing value against aggro via removing mct? idk
Playing this in a C'Thun Shudderwock deck could be fun, along with Midnight Drake get an even bigger effect from the C'thun Battlecry from the Shudderwock.
Rogues, Taunt Druids, Taunt Warriors....things that go 3 to 4 minions wide or have a consistently good target to hit. Not so good against Paladins because you need a board clear, not a 1/1.

No, sorry, I meant what do you think Omega Defender would be tech against?
I get the feeling that all these people commenting 'but you don't play shudderwock for the body, grumble puts it back in your hand anyway, getting some 12/6's isn't good enough to see play' etc. don't know what playing for fun means...
As someone who has played a ton of shudderwock memedecks I have to say though, I'm very excited to try out your idea :)

uh......maybe a world in which classes other than Druids run 12-health dragons?

I am intrigued by the world in which you think a 12/6 Taunt for 4 mana is “unplayable”. Lol!
Things dont require 12 health for this to cause them a problem! ;-)
OH. you want to know if I think a 4-mana 12/6 taunt is unplayable.
I thought you wanted to know what I think Omega Defender would be a reasonable tech card against (which is what you asked).
Honestly I don't think this card will see much competitive play. Cards that have synergy/bonus effect see play IF their condition is easily met or they are strong enough on their own to be played on curve. Look at a similar card, Tortollan Shellraiser (4-mana 2/6 Taunt with bonus effect). It didn't even see play in Quest Priest (probably much better is Rotten Applebaum). What kind of deck are you thinking a 4-mana 2/6 Taunt that does nothing would go into, where you'd rather play that than Applebaum/Saronite Chain Gang? Or rather, what world outside of Ramp Druid do you want to hold a 4-drop until turn 10?
Why is everyone so hyped about this card in shudderwok shaman, C'thun or otherwise? For one thing, by the time you get your combo off even without this card, you've already won. The card slots in this deck are tight and you don't need more spam in the deck that slows down your drawing into the combo. For another, shudderwok shaman is meme tier in wild
You know what this card would be really good in? Any druid until oaken summons rotates. You'd run 1 of these with 2 ironwoods or 2 and 1 for the perfect recruit ratio. No more tar creeper lowrolls. Draw this instead of recruiting and you've got yourself a 4 mana 12/6 because you're a druid
A 4 mana 2/6 taunt isn't very good, sure, but look at hooked reaver - it's a 4 mana 4/4 no taunt unless you play it late(ish) in the game yet it still sees play. A 4 mana 12/6 will always be a big threat on turn 10 that has to be dealt with immediately. Maybe you could play it in paladin with a spikeridged steed to make it even more of a threat or an enormous survival tool. If it does end up seeing play though people will just start teching in more silence effects, which will swing it back toward not seeing much play - but given our limited information so far, I don't think it's correct to write it off as just some meme card.

I think our conversation took two separate paths which diverged. I guess my point was that I dont see it as tech card against anything. But it is definitely a late game powerhouse card that synergises well with Shudderwock. Thats how I see it.
In terms of conditions being met, getting to 10 mana is possibly one of the easiest precursor conditions. I would argue that this is even better than Hooked Reaver since it can still be deployed as an emergency taunt minion on turn 4 if you face against Odd Pally etx.

So. The Omega Defender. That’s quite the card!
4 mana 12/6 with taunt. I can see this getting some serious play time especially in big druid.
But you know what really loves this card?
Shudderwock
I’ve got to say Blizzard. You got a lot more jaw dropping reveals in this new expansion so far! I like the mechanics!
I dunno. A board of 16/6’s is pretty cool.
Hey, it might not even see play, but I dont care. I enjoyed the reveal and am excited by it.

Maybe Sandbinder. The extra taunt value is extremely useful (especially laye game).
Or can replace McT which sees less use these days.

Unpopular opinion: Rogue is OP

You’re not replacing SCG though. And McT isnt exactly your go to card for aggro. Thats for the chain light ings and volcanoes etc.
In fact Mct is quickly sounding like the card to replace. It is so rare that it ever makes much difference.
I think MC Tech is....kind of a tech card, and there are better tech cards than Omega Defender.

I always figured the point of shudderwock is to kill you with the lifesteal battlecry. They don't seem to care about much else.

Sometimes the BC ordering screws you over and you need a plan B! :-)
