Thus seems like a complete and total waste of time. 30 wins at 6 minutes minimum for the match and time in between is 3 hours. Which of course no one can do 30 straight wins. If we use the normal 50% WR it’s 6 hours, or the unrealistic 75% WR would be 4.5 hours. For 100 gold... that can buy 1 pack... and if you’re good at Arena, which someone will undoubtedly bring up, you don’t need to farm gold this slowly to play Arena.
I bring it up because people claim Casual abusers do it to farm gold. But that seems like a stupid waste of time if you ask me.
How many people here are actually trying to get he daily limit of gold? My time is way more valuable that $1.50, which would be the going rate in real money for a pack.
''(...) I bring it up because people claim Casual abusers do it to farm gold. But that seems like a stupid waste of time if you ask me.''
If you are referring to this pseudo-controversy that feeds multiple thread a day, just ignore : those who claim that are simply frustrated that their gimmicky deck - every now and then - gets crushed by inexperienced player using Tier1-2 deck in their casual mode. It is a non-issue, really. People should play whatever they feel like playing in whatever mode they please.
As for your thread question. It occasionnaly happened to me to reach the 100g/day limit, but only after a long and time consumming day of laddering. When I was just done with my thesis, I played way more than I'd like to admit for a few weeks ... And in those moment of binge HS play, I suddenly realized that their was such a cap. But it took me about 4 years of extensive play time before discovering it.
Your time is more valuable than spending 6-8hours of casual play to get a stash of gold. Just laddering and completing daily quest usually seems way enough to get prepare for the next expansion.
the 100 Gold per 30 Wins stems from a time where we only had one kind of Pack (Classic Pack). Nowadays we have 3 Expansion Packs + the Classic Pack. It's the same with Quests, although the updated all of them it's still lower. Back in the day that kind of model was working , cause there was only one pack and grinding 100 Gold for 1x Basic Pack was warranted if you wanted to play without investing money into the game.
Well that was what, 4 years ago? More and more cards are available and the old system hasn't really been up to standard. We still get sometimes promotional Events like the Time-Thingy with Toki, but still. 40 Gold Quests a day to buy a Classic Pack, compared to 50 Gold/60 Gold Quests a day to buy 3 different Expansion Packs + Classic Pack and you can see the problem.
What I am saying is (tl;dr), that grinding those 100 Gold per 30 Wins ins't really efficient in the slightest. If it takes you 5 hours a day to grind that, you could just work that time more at your job and buy 10-20 Packs with that money you earn in the real world, rather wasting your time to grind. If you're laddering, that my friend is a different questions cause you get those 10 Gold/per Win anyway as long as you are wining and it's merely a byproduct.
The only reason i can see for it being in place is to stop bots. If they could win 300 a day for example, it might make it appealing to do. But I take it your point, it doesn't seem the most useful rule. For me an ideal world would be where a new player, who was willing to devote a lot of hours early on, would be able to ramp up their gold and dust really quickly. But I guess that's no a simple thing to design in the game.
To bluntly answer the thread question: I think only accounts using some sort of bots are actually "farming" those 100g/day every day.
Normal people that play a lot occasionally can reach it (I have reach it myself a few times when I go 10+hours nonstop laddering trying to push for those ranks), but I doubt that's anyone's goal when he/she is playing HS (except maybe on the rare occasions when there is a really fun and/or fast tavern brawl and people are actually go hard on playing it and might as well get the 100g).
If you want to farm gold and/or packs - Arena is the best and most efficient way to do it. Those 100g are nothing compared to what an "above-average" Arena player is getting.

reached it like.. 10 times.. I farmed pretty hard back then in GVG for naxx so I played A LOT.. and I got all naxx.
also reached it twice farming for BRM I think.
Last time I reached it was the nemesis brawl I think.. or pick 2.. when there's a fun brawl I would play it a lot.. but aside from that I don't think farmers are really there.. and I agree with DR_Horus really he really summerized the bitching about "casual is not casual"
Never thought about bots. That’s a great point. Even 240 wins a day is only 800 gold, and there are no bots that can come close to that. On the best of days I’d bet a bit could maybe pull 300-400 gold.

Doesn't matter the gold cap per day is 100, so you can't go higher than that, they already thought about it, otherwise you could have been grinding the shit out of it back in the day and make serious buck with it, when it was relevant.
Quote from Blizz back in 2013:
Patch 1.0.0.4217 (2013-12-10): The amount of gold gained by winning games in Play mode per day is now capped at 100. This cap does not affect gold gained through Quests, Arena, or Achievements. There will now be an indication within the game when this gold cap is reached. This cap is intended to combat certain methods of gold acquisition that violate our Terms of Service. The spirit of fair play is extremely important to us, and we will continue to monitor gold acquisition activity closely to ensure a fun and enjoyable game environment for everyone.
Gold farming is not limited to those who reach 100 gold in a day. That may be the goal, and it may never be reached based on the time the player has available. Getting 50 gold a day may be ok to someone farming if they have limited free time. Gold farming is in essence trying to maximize the amount of gold you get every day, usually by playing fast aggro decks. This is not playing a casual game or games.
I've reached the gold cap a couple times when tavern brawl was something where each game was win or lose by turn 2-3, or even turn 1.
I guess I have also occasionally reached it when grinding to legend on my day off, but farming for it, day after day, no way.
As for the complaining about casual, yes its annoying when you try to play a 'fun' deck and it gets smashed by optimized top tier net decks over and over but the lesson is not that 'casual needs to be changed to suit what i want it to be!', but rather ''fun' decks are never fun'.
I scrolled through and found the casual mode complaints that a few of you mentioned. When I made this bread I honestly hadn’t seen any of those, haha. It is odd that a truly casual mode doesn’t exist. Farming casual is dumb because st least in ranked you are progressing your wins toward a golden portrait.
I hit the limit yesterday after march when I was on holiday.
The reason being I was 25 wins short of golden warlock, standard ladder isn't fun at rank 2, so decided to play renolock loved it and got my golden hero and I went 24-2 from rank 23 onwards :D

They should remove gold cap in hearthstone already, even if they remove it, I dont think someone is stupid enough to bot thru hearthstone since WoW token has been a thing.
I have a guy on my friendlist who spams paladin in casual for his 100g. Dunno how often he does this but last I talked with him, he was almost at 30k gold. He was human enough to add me and carry a conversation so it obviously wasn't a bot
I don't really care for gold myself. I reached the cap a few times and they were all when I was grinding to legend. I think in most of those instances, I even kept going far after the cap was reached for 0 gold because I was only focused on climbing

Lol, must have nothing better to do. 4-5 hours for 100g measly gold is ROFL for me.
It would be great if Blizzard changes to 1 win = 10 gold having the same max amount of gold per day. People would definitely play more than they are now

Dust does not burn a hole in the jar. Be careful what you craft, especially before and right after a rotation.

I reached the cap only once abusing one of those 2-cards brawls.
But yeah, bots and below-cap farming should be considered in the discussion about systematical Casual farming.
