Yeah, I don't know how some are calling LoE a good meta. I mean, Reno fucking Jackson, fgs.
Reno is only bad if you play aggro lol
Exactly, it stifled an entire gameplay style single-handedly, and you could cheat copies of him. I played him even in midrange/aggro decks to great results, he was THAT powerful. Not a healthy card.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
I wasn't planning on going for a run today. But those cops came out of nowhere.
Funny how Witchwood and UnGoro were my two most disliked Metas.
If you think about it, both expansions had a similar feeling: a pretty balanced Meta with a pretty big variety of decks. Sounds good on paper but for some reason i just dont enjoy this game right now. I cant even explain why. Maybe because my winrate was below average in both metas (looking at my decktracker stats)

Reno was meant to counter garbage like double tunnel troggs on turn 1 that LoE introduced or the trogg on turn 1 golem on turn 2 highrolling. Not to mention the rockbiter + Doomhammer nonsense.
Reno is/was just as unfair as any hyper aggressive deck that destroys slow decks that don't have easy ways of healing.
However, in many decks Reno isn't even needed anymore. Jaina is a persistent Reno more or less, plus mages have artificer. Gul'Dan's hero power is as overtuned as ever. Malfurion doesn't need health, just armor. And turns out Tank Up by turn 2 is actually pretty gooood!

If i get to choose a card from the wild collection upon playing toki I will choose Reno :D

Good point....except there was PLENTY of aggro around in the LoE meta.

Don't you know? It is okay if the aggro archtype is grossly overtuned in certain metas, but it isn't okay for control to be in the same situation due to 'p2w reasons' or something.

It didn't stifle anything. I'm not sure you're remembering all of the metas correctly where Reno could be used in standard. You didn't instantly win the game just because you used Reno, otherwise we would have even had bizzare Reno decks popping up on ladder (such as Reno Druid, Reno Pally, or Reno Shaman). The fact of the matter was often that if you dropped Reno on turn 6 and the aggro player still controlled the board, and was not on its last leg in terms of resources in hand, then more often than not the aggro player would just go all face again and take out close to half of your health or more. This was especially the case when Aggro Shaman and Midrange Shaman got access to their 4 mana 7/7 to complement their glass cannon troggs.
I find it interesting that people find it so easy to criticize control and combo decks on the meta, but then find every reason to justify any absurdly overtuned aggro card. Perhaps the older metas wouldn't have needed Reno Jackson if a single one or two drop couldn't deal 10+ damage to the face if it couldn't be answered for 2-3 turns. This is very easy to do with Tunnels Troggs or Mana Wyrms with just a couple of spells/overload cards (the cards that are supposed to be an actual dentriment to shamans playing above average cards). Just in wild the other day I ran into some shamans still pulling off the old Whirling Zap-O-Matic + Flametongue combo. That's 10 damage to the face from one 2 drop on turn 3 (turn 2 if they coin it out).
To add to the OP's topic, I don't think the meta is as varied in terms of which classes represent the major archtypes. Paladin and rogue pretty much are the only 2 classes that represent aggro in standard right now (That's only 2 out of 9 classes), and Druid represents almost all of the combo/otk decks atm (Having Haddronox, Whispering Woods Token Druid, and Azalina Togwaggle).
Control may be pretty varied, but aggro and combo/otk certainly aren't as far as the classes playing them.
the best meta for me was naxx with GvG and BRM. back then it was so much fun
Just hate exodia anything, man.
I do find it boring, I miss elyse, ragnaros, kazacus, and the other super powerfull but randomy cards.
Now is all so deterministic and stale...
HOLY SHIT!!!
Finally someone who knows what good meta is.

Until whispes came ,the meta was reall funny and interactive IMO

Well, I was trying to figure out how to respond to this question. This article sums it up pretty nicely.
