I've never done it to anyone, but have had it done to me plenty.
I do however tend to take the entire turn thinking if the game calls for it. So in this sense I rope them, but I'm just working out my possible plays and future plays etc, not purposely "roping" them.
I've got no time for negativity. If they "rope" me they're just wasting their own time, as I'm not bothered....
....it gives me even longer to devise ways to destroy them in the coming rounds... all they are doing is giving me more time to mill over possible plays... the last thing you want to do to a control player is given them more time to think.
They'd actually make me suffer more by tearing through turns so as not to give me enough time to plot their doom in the utmost artistic fashion... so that's 2 turns full of Glinda'd Gnomeferatu for you then (and if you can't take out my glinda, this is only the start of your pain and suffering.
I actually find that people only rope on you if you're playing a deck that they detest. Like me, I play a lot of exodia mage and people hate that deck and they know I'm playing it within the second or third turn when I drop a mad scientist or coldlight oracle. Same thing happens when I play Big Priest But if I'm playing something else like aggro hunter, they play lightning fast.
My favorite is when they're roping on you and the last 3 seconds of the rope like 5 cards fly out of their hand. Always makes me laugh.
When I get roped I just hit the threat emote repeatedly, so they get an idea that I know what they are doing. Then, I try to add them afterwards with the hopes of them accepting, so I can vent my frustration into their chat bubbles with threating words, and problem solved.
I always do it back to my opponent if they start doing it to me, but I often will add in my own BM to make it more painful for them so that they either have to wait the rest of the game out with extra BM or concede the game.
One recent instance was during this weeks Shadow Reflection tavern brawl. One of the dozens of MB priests I was playing realized that the deck I was using counters priest and since they weren't going to win they started roping. I roped them back and also kept mousing over my cards or our minions with my own minions, making unnecessary trades, etc. The salt was very satisfying.
A more distant occurrence was when I was in arena and I was going to win when my opponent starts BM emoting me. In order to not give him the last word I decided to extend the game, so far that I kept the game going for over 15 more turns, taking them to fatigue. I roped them every single turn, hovered over most of my cards, hovered with my minion attacks over every single minion and hero face. I also exhausted them of EVERY. SINGLE. CARD in their deck (minions and spells, including their Ysera). When they were out of all cards I merely kept healing their face to delay their loss until I could not keep them alive any longer.
You don't want to BM me, I'll BM you better and won't be bothered by any wasted time at all ^_^
I used to think so too, but I’ve been getting roped most frequently in casual, and I never play OP decks in casual. It’s like they are mad their T1 tryhard deck got whipped by a lol meme deck.

This is actually very much the truth for my own experience as well. People claim to hate tier decks in casual and just want memey decks to face instead, but the amounts of salt requests I've received for beating opponents with meme OTK decks in casual is staggering (such as menagerie warden otk druid, ancient curse togwaggle otk, aviana rag otk, etc).
Even in casual it doesn't matter if you're not playing a tier deck, people will whine if they lose to whatever you're playing because they feel entitled to a win due to being a 'better skilled player'.
I always rope ropers back. I know it's wasting my time but it's not about being logical, it's about petty spite.
I will also rope before lethal if you've been annoying the whole game with emotes etc. It's a pretty easy way to get an instant popup of "a recent opponent would like to be your friend" if you give them the old spicy "heh, greetings" spam with lethal right before the rope burns out. In my defense, you have to be REALLY annoying to get that treatment.

For some reason I thought this thread was going to be about one of my favorite D&D monsters.
I only have myself to blame...
I thought this was a thread about spin-offs to three's company.
