What does everyone think the worst card design ever is? In my opinion poorly designed cards are either: Super RNG based, blatantly over-powered, design-limiting, game-breaking or unfun to play against.
With this in mind, I think the worst designed card ever is shudderwock because it is extremely limiting to future card design. It is unfun to play against, and it broke the game with the 20 minute battlecry.
Some other horrible card designs are drakonid operative (overpowered as hell), jade idol (game-breaking / overpowered), yogg-saron (RNG).
On the other hand some of the best designed cards in my opinion are N'zoth and all of the death knights.
For me it's definitely Tunnel Trogg, it's a one drop that is essential to kill or it gets out of control. It's like mana worm except it gains more attack from most shaman cards which are overload. Blizzard fucked up there, worst meta.
Honestly Vilespine Slayer is just way to strong it could have been "combo deal 5 damage to a minion" but instead we have a removal card that comes with a decent body in a class that can bounce the card over and over again.
However if we are talking about wild than i think Jade Idol would be it this card if not properly teched against is the end all be all to fatigue control decks and mill to an extent.
Divine Favor and Spreading Plague are on my top, for sure. Punish control decks for having more cards in hand than aggro? Punish aggro decks for having a lot of minions on board (like aoe effects weren't enough)? Bullshit
I hate the design of explosive runes. With kabal lackey in wild mages get it out by turn 1 or 3 with kirin tor mage, and its good no matter when its played, not to mention it's discoverable. If its early, my hero will take a good amount of damage, if its late game, my lich king or other high healthed minion has maybe 3 health left because of explosive runes, a 3 mana card. There is NO mage deck out there that is not running the card, that's how good it is. It's literally the Kobold Librarian of mage class imo, it will always be in every mage deck even after rotation(unless it gets nerfed, of course)Let's not forget that if you put a divine shield minion, your hero still takes damage from the card. It is just honestly a bullshit card and makes face/aggro mage as strong as it is and just a terrible experience to play against for me.
"Worst designed card" can mean different things. I mean, Bolf Ramshield and The Boogeymonster could be considered worst designed card because they are so utterly terrible on so many levels, yet take up a legendary slot in an expansion. Those would be my entries for worst designed card that was outright terrible.
Then there's worst designed card for meta-breaking. Tunnel Trogg is up there, as it dominated the meta for an entire year. Patches the Pirate is up there, for the same reason. Corridor Creeper has to be considered as it was nerfed 3 entire attack points and STILL sees play in T1 decks. Undertaker as well, as everyone thought it was OP before it was released, and it was. And then there's Jade Idol which single-handedly destroyed an entire archetype of deck.
And then there's worst designed for unfun-ness. These are high-roll cards, make-or-break if you draw or play it. Barnes is one. Reno Jackson is another, as games were decided on whether he was in your top-half of the deck or not (yet, without him, Hearthstone literally would have died since it was the only way control could survive in those metas).
Any of these could work. But really, I'm still flabbergasted at Bolf Ramshield's design. How that card did not have taunt is beyond me. That one, to me, is the worst designed card.
I especially despise Spreading Plague. While it certainly works as intended as an anti-aggro tool, its stall potential is much too strong.
Spreading Plague was bad because it was the one tool Jade Druid needed to combat its only weakness (aggro) at the time. It took a deck that was already dominating the meta AND completely eradicating an entire archetype (control), and gave it the card it needed to combat its only weakness. I remember being utterly flabbergasted when I saw that card reveal.
The design of the card is... probably fine. It was a bad card because it was the exact last card that class should have had printed at that time.
I feel like worst designed cards could just mean repetitive or bland cards. Darius Crowley for example is by no means 'bad', just quite boring especially compared to something like Tess or MY JAWS THAT BITE, MY CLAWS THAT CATCH.
Crowley is usable though, Tess isn't so much, and I totally agree on Voss had such high hopes since she's such a cool character. Was really disappointed in Toki as well.
Renounce Darkness discounts the cost of every card in your deck by one. Explore Un'Goro does the opposite, but gives you a lot of flexibility with each card. Lilian Voss, on the other hand, requires you to build a shitty deck and stockpile spells just to get a handful of random cards that are probably also going to be garbage.
The original version of Yogg-saron. It single-handedly took what was an already flimsy e-sports scene and turned it into a clusterfuck rng clownfiesta.

i hate dark pact
Still have the shudder hate train a-rolling huh?

I will always love Yogg.
Ya I'd have to go with jade idol too.

There can only be one... Jade Idol

This thread comes up often, Barnes is the worst for me
Never have been a fan of non-interactive or completely swing reliant cards such as Evolve or Crystal Caverns, but Jade Idol also was poor design.

Whole bunch of Paladin cards. Anything that buffs recruits or hero power synergizes too well. Any version of aggro Paladin is busted right now.
Kun/Aviana combos.
I forget what else. Team 5 has made some fairly broken stuff in the past.

Worst designed? Aesthetically Abominable Bowman, the ability makes NO SENSE. AT ALL.
As for ability, Lillian Voss. Seemed cool in concept, but in reality it's basically unplayable.
Look mom, I'm Rank 24!

Gee, I LOVE getting Patches from Toki :Kappa:

Lilian Voss.

It's basically a legendary Chillwind Yeti.
