I barely got rank 3 last month and am currently sitting on rank 4 with 1 star. Don't know how far I can go but have a 63% winrate atm (30 games tracked) with Zoolock, which is at best Tier 2 (maybe even Tier 3). So I think sticking with one deck is pretty important. Even for a fairly simple deck it takes a while to learn exactly how to play it and how it matches up against everything else in the meta.
I watched firebats stream yesterday and saw him win streak through rank 2-legend with even pala Upon being asked in the stream which deck was best to reach legend atm he replied even pala. Just a pity that it dies today. RIP. After the patch I'd advise to stick to control priest and feast on odd pala.
Ok, I took Even pally and won 5 in a row. But as soon I was close to get 4th rank, I've met a Priest who killed me with 4 Mindblasts on turn 10. Isn't this luck?
I am not as skilled as OP, but have similar situation. Recently (before WW and few days after its release) I could easily climb up to rank 12-11 (which is my current skill level, I admit it), but as for now I can't even touch f*cking rank 15, I keep rolling back and forth at rank 17-16 (even fell at rank 18 once). I tried playing control mage, elemental mage, crow (tempo) mage, then went to spiteful priest, and still can't manage as much as 3-4 winning streak at most. I keep getting unlucky draws (i.e. no active Duskbreaker to clear pala/hunter boards) and keep getting thrashed.
I don't know what has happened, but HS now takes more nerves from me than gives fun in return.
Hope that nerfs will give some love to tempo mage decks though.
this game is so rigged its not even funny. i sincerely hope that developers develop arthritis and have to use something else to code their bullshit...literally in every shaman deck i have they purposely code that the most important combo cards do not show up on time..
Ever since i saw a Rank 2 Paladin Player that tried to silence his own frozen & buffed (blessing of kings) squire to attack my face i am not surprised anymore
another noob played equality and silenced my voidlord after he did that.
Two total noobs almost beat me with a braindead deck. I stopped playing after the last incident.
The reason people can't climb is simply becouse they think it's the meta's fault, git good. You're not playing perfectly and the matchups are not as one-sided as You think. Deckbuilding and mulligan are way more important than people think.
if you consider yourself as a semi pro player than you should easily be able to hit legend.
And I did it in previous meta. I'm talking not about legend rank (which means nothing actually nowadays), I'm talking about current state of the ladder.

Yes, this is what I'm talking about. Ladder is full of people who even don't know the game mechanics, but still they somehow manage to get new ranks.
In any good ladder climb, you need to win the mirror matches with the deck you are playing with, or don't play the deck. I stick with decks that I can hopefully win near 60%, and I need to win the mirrors/games vs. same class. I tend to lose on mirrors if I play Control / cube decks, and Paladin, so I don't play them. Mirror matches I win, like Spiteful decks, Mage, Even Shaman, I stick with those decks.
You mean 5 wins out of 6 games? That's not bad luck. It's hell of a winrate. Just keep it up and you'll climb.
Ok I was 6-1 with Even paladin now I'm 6-7 already because of 0-6 against: Warlock, Warlock, Better draw paladin, Warlock, Control warrior, Control warrior. Back from 5 stars to 0 stars rank 5. What's the plan now?
The plan should be for mods to close this thread, as you're only crying over completely normal stuff that happens to everyone. How are you semi-pro, exactly? As such a skilled player, you should be able to recognize that as you've surely won with highroll decks like Spiteful Druid, Big Priest etc., in the past, others can win against you - shit happens, deal with it, stop crying and move on. Nobody likes the current state of the game, that's why the nerfs are here.

Yeah, just 'cause you lost it means bad luck, who ever lost a game of HS down to lack of skills themself? It's a card game, always an element of luck. You and 90% of this forum are the real problem with the HS community.

You could try Spell Hunter. Even tho I don't have To My Side! or Rexxar, I have started to climb consistently after playing this deck (63% WR out of 59 games, r14). Also I think the deck is good fun to play - you can choose to play super aggro against controls or more controllish against aggro. So each game is different. I really enjoy seeing face mage trigger my rat trap at turn 3.
As others have said, it could well be viable deck in the new meta - controls will be slower and paladins weaker. With average draw, face (tempo) mage is not a problem. Cubelock and taunt druid are hard counters. Also there's not much you can do against turn 6 + turn 7 spiteful.

Just pick your favorite deck and stick with it.

Have you heard of Danning-Kruger effect?

It's Dunning-Kruger effect and yes, it could be the case here.
