I've finished last season on rank 1 because didn't have enough time to play so started this season on rank 5. No big deal, I've planned to grind to legend in few days.
It's end of May already and I'm still on rank 5 with 0 stars. Until May 15th I was jumping between 4 and 5, then finally made it to 2nd rank only to fall back to 5th next day and since that I even can't reach 4th anymore. Just for record, I had 0-13 and 0-15 series during this season which never happened to me in any other HS instance since basic cards era. So far I've tried Cubelock, Even paladin, Taunt druid, Spiteful druid, Spiteful priest, Control mage, Aggro mage and Even shaman and none of those decks even came close to 50% (average w/r is like 30% for me after few hundreds of matches this season).
I consider myself as a semi-pro and good skilled player, I'm playing HS since first day, attending tournaments on regular basis and having many top-finishes in my account, I always know all the cards and decks used in the current meta but still I can't beat the clown-fiesta ladder became now. It just feels like it's absolutely useless to swap decks or change tactics because you'll always get some random opponent with perfect draw who just kills you on turn 5 no matter what you do.
I guess we are the "unlucky draw ", even playing against someone with almost exactly the same deck (Spiteful druid) they get a spiteful on turn 5 then 6 while my hand is full of 2 Ultimate Infestations ... so not to mention how even paladin always always have both their Cta in hand.
I'm filling a bit same. I'm taking legend each month, and i always saw profit when you are playing same deck but with some wise teching or switch deck according to current micro-meta. This season I see real rng clown fiesta and I'm sitting on rank2-rank3 for 3 weeks already :/
Maybe next month after nerfs will calm down highroll decks a bit and new stable meta will settle there will be less polarized gameplay.
You have 30% win rate with the best decks over a consistent sample, you are either playing very unoptimized lists or you are playing above your skill level. With the new system low skill players can never reach the bottom ranks, so you face stronger players.
If you can't win with Paladin, Warlock and Druid at this moment, you might be the problem :p
You could try Quest Rogue, but it is best to stick with one class for a while. If you play Paladin now it's impossible to lose more than 2 games in a row. Cubelock and Control Lock are still very strong, but became beatable.
You can loose with Even paladin even 5 games in a row in current meta.
You dont have Call to arms and your mirror opponent has 2 in a row, or his call to arms took jugler first and you loose your board and your call to arms took no jugler. Tempo mage played mana wyrm t1 and then 3 counter spells in a row. Spitefull druid got Tyrantus turn5, and you was trying to mulligan for chain gang or equality, but you dont have it and have no answer. Taunt druid played Mussy Horror suddenly and then had Hadronox combo right on curve. And so on and so on, current state of hearthstone is realy dependant on rng very much.

Any thoughts on this?
Not that I don't agree that ladder atm is pretty boring and rock-paper-scissors basically...but if you're so good (albeit self-proclaimed), you should be able to climb even in those conditions. The decks you've played are all strong, so if I had to draw a conclusion it would either be that you're worse than you think you are (don't take it as an insult, we all have room to learn and grow in proficiency at this game), or that you get tilted easily and then play bad as a result.
Also, deck swapping is almost never good, because you might lose with a deck 10 games, but then go on to win 20 in a row, sometimes you just have to weather the shitstorm (if the deck is decent of course).
"Lesser, greater, middling, it's all the same. Proportions are negotiated, boundaries blurred. I'm not a pious hermit, I haven't done only good in my life. But if I'm to choose between one evil and another, then I prefer not to choose at all."
I climbed from rank 5 to 3 with controlock quite easily. Now i'm between rank 1 and 2 with control priest (the version with lifedrinker and holy fire) and it works well. It beats everything except quest rogue. Highroll druid is hard to beat too but you clearly have your chance if they don't have the dk. Basic advice but taking your time each turn generally makes the difference, don't hesitate to think about every possibles plays even if you have to rope. You must know that but we don't always realize that when we lose too much it's often because of simple things like that. It's better to take 20 minutes to win two games than chaining 10 losses in 20 minutes
How is skill or tilt involved when you decide to play few matches with Taunt druid and go 0-5 because: 1. Quest rogue - no chance; 2. Quest rogue - no chance; 3. Control mage with Skulking Geist on coin 5 and DK on 9; 4. Quest rogue - no chance; 5. Getting rekt by aggro hunter on like turn 5-6.
No big deal I thought and switched to Paladin just to get Control warlock and Cubelock as my first two opponents. That's how I got 0-15.

Are you Russian? They're usually salty af and can't take criticism.
It's EXACTLY tilt involved imo, because if you hadn't changed the deck, it might've happened you played against more favourable matchups next. If the decks that your deck preys on are significantly represented in the meta, you're sure to meet them at some point, and get that 51% minimum required winrate to climb, at least.
To get better at a game (or anything, really), you have to be ready to examine your own gameplay, and accept input from other people - if you don't believe us, random users from a dedicated HS forum, try and ask some of your friends, maybe you'll value their opinions more.
Die you try control priest? Its pretty good this meta, mindblast is the key here.
Yes I've climbed from 5 to 4 with it but then went straight 0-7 and didn't play it anymore. I really like Control Priest and used it in many HS metas both as ladder and tournament, including the version I've used to climb to Legend in March, but unfortunately it's not that good anymore after rotation.

If you had played even pala you would've gone 4:1 since quest Rogue is free win and aggro hunter is also favored.
Taunt druid is considered to be tier 3 atm. So why are you thinking you should consistently beat tier 1 decks with it?

Ofc I understand that man, the question is "why the hell am I constantly getting counterqued"? xD
It just takes a lot of time. If you play with the right deck for a long time, you can climb. I climbed to legend with mage last meta by playing 60+ games. Lot of luck involved in climbing but again, time spent to eventually get lucky :P
Wait till nerfs as well.

Odd warrior is significantly better at this point, counters so many decks and doesn't get any nerfs
Skidaddle skidoodle your Milhouse manastorm is now a noodle
Just bad luck - maybe take a break and play something fun like quest hunter.
Then you come back and realise how much better the decks before are than quest hunter!
That's what I do - get stuck, play a bad deck and come back a day later and climb like usual
Perhaps you don't know to play some decks. I played Spiteful Druid - I played it from Rank 14 to Rank 5, it took me few days playing.

You can't stop the signal.
Either you are so tilted you stopped playing the game correctly or you are not as good as you claim.
Take a break and try again after a few days.

I'm sorry for you. I just barely achieved legendary.
From rank 5 -> 1 47 games, 66% winrate
From 1 -> legend 53 games, 55% winrate
Since legendary rank i played more than 100 games and only 45% winrate. I tried a few new decks, but mostly i played the usual meta shit.
Sometimes you just aren't lucky, try it next month. (or try it again after the nerfs ..., maybe you will find the ideal deck to beat them all)
All Skill, No Luck
I try every deck and luck is always against me. Thanks Blizzard. :'(
