Its a good meta. Shure you see the same metadecks 90% of all matches. And each deck has bad matchups so there is a large number of pairing luck involved. In the end it comes to playing a lot of matches (grind?) and if you play it well and have a deck that is adapted to the meta you will climb. Just expect that you will be between 50-60% so nothing for impatience ...
I currently main taunt warrior and a non meta variant. Shure if i get something like 5 big hunters in a row i propably loose more of them and if i get odd paladin i will win 4 out of 5 ... The trick is to win against more of the metadecks. In a meta with token + hydronox druid, odd pala, odd rouge i will win most matches. In a meta with shudder, control priest and big hunters i will have a hard time. But bet on it i have a much better chance to win the bad matchups then to loose the good one´s. So i climb.
Spiteful priest and druid are not the best decks. Aggro mage, even shaman are pretty much counter decks and not often good. Cubelock and control mage are very high skill decks, that i will lose often with if u make a small mistake. Taunt druid is a very strong deck, however the correct build is importen having hatcher packed over the old list gives the deck 5% better winrate.
U gotta look at what people are playing and then either also play that or try to counter that. If u ran into a lot of rogues with those decks i see why, since i think only cube look might be good against them.
Saying that the game doesnt take skills to play is just dumb, before legend i win half my games because my oppenent makes a mistake. Yeah i said half!
I like control mage but it's not a high skill deck.
Control mage is cool but I don't have time to play HS 24/7 to use it as ladder deck. Currently trying Odd Paladin but it's below 40% for me, my every opponent has perfect draws every game.
if its below 40% for you but every stats website shows it at a steady 55-60% win rate across all ranks................. maybe the problem isn't the deck?

It definitely isn't the deck, the guy is crying incessantly for a long time already. Yeah, the meta is not perfect nor particularly fun for me either, but he should just shut up already, or you know...quit.
Who even said it's possible to climb in this community beloved "BALANCED META" where all decks are good and win/loss dependents upon matchmaking. Enjoy.
i reached legend on 6 free to play accounts playing only kingsbane rogue. Usually i only play until rank 5, but one after the other got legend during the month. kingsbane is so draw dependent that it can win and loose against most decks, especially if the opponent miss plays and grants you extra turns, which does happen more often outside legend.
well if all decks are equaly strong and only matchmaking decides then it will come down to playing skill...
Basically you can only climb slowly. The overall winrate if you use a T1 or T2 competative deck will be like 50% from deck and matchmaking + a few percent points from playing skill and maybe 5% from adapting your deck to the meta. So a good player (deck adaption/building and skill) will maintain 55-60% winrate. Copy an metadeck will give you a winrate of about 50% +/- a bit depending on your skill. Above rank 5 when all play well and use T1 and T2 decks it will come down to meta adaption and luck (which will decide climb speed). It´s all about probability.
hitting legend has never been easier than it is today, stop complaining and learn to play without tilt and focusing on fixing your misplays. dont tell me you play 100% perfect 100% of the time. if it was, you would be at blizzcon playing for a million dollars.

Back in secret pally or pirate warrior times you could make it from rank20 to legend faster than from rank5 to legend now, so you're wrong.

You can get to Legend pretty fast too with Odd Pally, Odd Rogue, Even Warlock etc etc.
What to do when HS just doesn't let you win? I've started my run mid rank3 this morning and now I'm rank5 0 stars, lost 100% of my games with 3 different decks, not a single chance to win.

I decided to give Odd Paladin a try. 9 of 10 mauls were taunt.

Hello?
I think you should not swap decks too often, just play 1 or 2 and you will move move forward for sure.

Not even. I'd say it's about 10-15% skill
Oh I forgot to ask your opinion noob.

ha, ha ha ha, good one, you semi-pro you!

Well, at least OP got their name right. Seems this thread's devolved into a rather pointless bit of nonsense.
And incidentally, OP? I played during the Secret Pally era. Hell, I played Secret Pally itself. Laddering was not that rapid. Not even then.
A never-Legend Dad who keeps making rank 2 or 1, but then sliding.
