The state of this game is not in good shape, twitch viewers of tournaments are way down, the game will probably get its player base cut in half when artifact comes out and Gwent comes out of release. Really most ppl are just sticking around, competitive players anyway because for now it's where the money is. But Valve have deeper pockets than Blizzard\Activision and they are not cheapskates like Blizzard is notorious for being.
But all that aside, they have pushed us to all play nothing but control, and now the game is this plain and simple, board clear every turn and then just hope you top deck better than the other guy. How is that fun or strategic , the way they have been printing cards, it's like the decks play themselves. And let's be real , everyone just copies the metadecks at the moment. So if the cards almost pratically play themselves, how much real strategy is even left?
Artifact is a valve game so wont it have the marketplace system in place? Im not gonna pay 3k dollars for 1 sick card. They better not have it like CS:GO

It will have trading/marketplace yes. It's unknown if there's gonna be a crafting system yet.
Everyone posting on this site is a casual HS player - in any event, I've not noticed a huge influx of HS pros contributing to the threads. I'd advise anyone who takes the game seriously enough to think that they need to make soul-searching decisions and embarrassingly earnest posts about "the state of the game" to simply quit. You don't enjoy the game, and playing it is apparently causing you misery - and you're blaming the people who make the game for the consequences. Christ. It's a game. You either play it, or you don't. If you don't like the meta-game, don't play for a couple weeks - you already know when the nerfs are coming. If you still don't like the game after the nerfs, the sky isn't going to fall if you decide to play something else, and quit HS altogether.
I play hearthstone because i love the World of Warcraft universe, lore and characters. It's hard for me to get into other card games because they feel so.. meh. But yea, I can't stand playing hearthstone, but i am addicted and can't stop.
I eat because i'm unhappy, and i'm unhappy because i eat... :(
This guy must be trolling right? No strategy in control mirrors? In any case the original assertion that you are forced to play control these days is absolutely not true. Only about a third of my ladder matchups are control decks. I'll admit that there's a lot more control than some past metas, but it still doesn't dominate the meta.
OMG! I 100% agree. It is this meta though, man. This is the worst meta I have experienced since Mean Streets. I honestly, just got done finishing my daily quest. My reaction to seeing it pop up complete was thank fucking god I don't have to play Hearthstone anymore today.
I was actually having fun at the start with a Corpsetaker Shudderwock Midrange. Things settled in a really bad place though.
The Meta is so, so very bad. All the top tier decks are super degenerate and unfun to play against. Except actually Paladin. Paladin is overpowered but that is the one match up I actually enjoy. Because, I like the game HS promised on the tin, fun and interactive board combat.
Spiteful is kind of ok too. Of course, when they do have Keleseth on 2 and/or Spiteful on 6 it is as little fun as you can possibly have while losing in the dumbest most RNG dependent way possible.
Every other deck. Mind Blast Priest, Warlock of all varieties, Face Mage, Face Rogue, Face Hunter, Quest Rogue. None of these decks give 2 shits about what you do on board. They are just single-playing their way to win or lose. Never really play the game as I understand it.
I would rally suggest Elder Scrolls Legends. I promise that after a small learning curve you will really enjoy it. It has pretty much taken 90% of the attention I used to give to Hearthstone. New expansion is awesome! Game-play requires much more thought and strategy. Deck-building is open and much less limited. "Buy-in" cost to get a decent deck or two is relatively about half. Ladder is challenging, but you don't lose big ranks (just stars) making it much more enjoyable and less stressful. Cons are smaller community (but still very involved) and less prominent streamers. All in all it's very fun and will definitely make you feel even more-so that Hearth doesn't have enough complexity.
Well, he's probably in the same boat as many of us right now. We see the potential in this game, but the devs are holding it back.
So you'd rather torment yourself by playing this game in hope that one day the devs will fix it instead of doing something else that makes you happy? That's cute.

Can some other card game please start to seriously compete against HS? Please, I want the competition for the sake of this game.
Then stop playing it? You aren’t forced to do so.

The game has been dying since Beta according to haters like OP.
There are plenty of viable aggro deck, why are you felling yourself forced to play control?
Yeah there a game called magic the gathering dunno if you ever heard of it. It is better than any card game made or will be made.

Dust does not burn a hole in the jar. Be careful what you craft, especially before and right after a rotation.
