Genuinely curious why people play tier one decks in casual. I don't really care that they exist on ladder, because I know people like to try hard to rank up and there will always be a few really good hard to beat decks, but why are they on casual too. you don't get any reward for casual besides the ten gold for three wins, but you can go to ranked for that and you'll probably face the same decks. I like to use casual to try new weird decks or old decks that just aren't good enough for ladder. Ladder is where you get to be competitive and run all the oppressive decks to see how far you can go and I can see how the challenge and competition can be fun, because I'll do it too sometimes, but why do that in casual. You clearly have a good deck, so wouldn't you want to go and use that deck to get high up in ladder. I don't really care that their win rate is so high, ok, that's not entirely true I do care a little, but I wasn't expecting to get a good win rate with these decks in the first place because they are just for fun, It's more that casual is about as casual as ranked and I think that's kind of boring, because you don't get to see and fight against any cool unusual decks. Like I said before the lack of diversity in ladder I take very little issue with because I know people like to try hard and they should have a space for that, but I think that there should be a space for actual casual match ups. So, like I said, why do people try so hard in casual and is there a good way to fix this or am I just too salty and should just suck it up, because that might just be it.
I'll try to remain open minded and feel free to try and change my mind. Thanks for any input :)
I can't speak for all the players of course, but the rare moments when I play casual I do it with tier 1-2-3 netdecks as well. Why? Because I want to complete my quest for a class I don't usually play on ladder (hunter for example). Or I want to complete my quest fast - it's easier in casual, because people, as you said, are trying weird decks or are not used to playing the decks they are trying to play as the people on ladder - so, you can get your X amount of wins with a class pretty damn fast. Or if I have the quest "Play X amount of Y class cards" - I can just make a deck with only low mana class cards without caring about synergies and stuff and take it to casual and complete the quest in 2 games. Those are my 3 reasons of playing casual at all actually. If I want to try a deck I would rather try it in ranked, because I want to see how this deck does against the try-harders there, not against the wacky wierd stuff you see in casual.
And btw, I think "gold farming" in terms of trying to get 30 wins in casual for those 100g every day is the single most boring stuff you can do in this game. Better Alt+F4 and go outside, look at the nature.

People usually play casual to complete quest without that affecting their rank, cause you sometimes can be in the middle of 2 rank floors and need to play a subpar class to get your gold so doing so in casual is the safest way and the reason they play tier 1 deck is just cause of the awful gold system this game has, having to win 3 games to just get 10g is terrible, you kinda have to make sure you're winning a lot to not be farming for gold all day long.
It's a difficult thing to fix, a lot of people have suggested removing the gold gain in casual, and while that will certainly cut down some of the Aggro decks, I think there will still be a lot of slower decks like Cubelock, Taunt Druid ect that have no confidence in themselves to play ranked.
I do find it astonishing that there are seriously people who get 30+ wins each day for 100 gold to buy 1 pack that has the value of like, £1. That's worth a few minutes (or even seconds) of real work for anyone with a legitimate occupation. I'd rather just buy the bloody packs than play a deck which nobody with a pulse can find any enjoyment playing.

Practice new decks. Complete quests. Quickly farm gold.
All that without de-ranking.
Sometimes I like to play non competitive decks too. And I'm the other side, i get matched against tier 1 decks and don't stand a chance. When I realize that I just concede and queue again.
I like to try out new decks, in fact I prefer to be paired against meta decks so I can learn matchups better. I'll play some brews now and then but I mainly want to practice for ladder without losing stars once I pass rank 5. I guess my MMR is such that I mainly see meta decks with some brews thrown in, so I'm not the only one who feels this way.
And I don't believe in choosing a deck because my opponent will enjoy playing against it. No matter what you play, there's always going to be someone who calls it braindead or unfair or high roll or OP, so putting any restrictions at all on deck choice doesn't make much sense to me.
Casual is also used to test decks before ranked, so there's that. Personally, the causual everyone wants doesn't exist, it would take prohibiting certain cards and that's not gonna happen lol
So you want a mode where you can play any deck and still win? Got the solution - play the Innkeeper in practice mode with your shit deck. There is not, nor should there be a mode where you face weak competition. Same thing I always say to this stupid thread.

I just don't like that as of recently so many people are playing top decks in casual when I use it just to complete a damn quest with a shitty deck. I also like it when playing fun, but nowhere near competitive decks. I'm not sure how they should change it (or if they can), but it is kind of annoying how casual became so competitive.
Usually when I get the dust to craft a good deck, I try it a few days on casual while farming my gold to learn how to play it, I see casual more like a practice place and the decks I'm facing vary from Cubelock to Discardlock
It doesn't matter whether casual has a bunch of people playing competitive decks or not. Casual is a place where it doesn't matter whether you win or lose, so it doesn't matter if your opponent has a more competitive deck than you. If you want to play some crazy combo that you would never be able to do in ranked, just play a friend or get lucky. I don't understand any of these "casual isn't casual" threads, because it's job is to create an environment where it doesn't matter whether you win or lose, which it does perfectly. It's job isn't to house all the non-competitive meme decks, even if you want to play a deck like that there.

This. I play mostly casual, and if for whatever reason I don't like a game, I just concede and find another in 3 second.
Currently i do play the casual mode with a cubelock deck......
I really do not like playing this deck but it is the easiest way to complete the "Play 12 Minions with 5or more Mana Cost". I chose casual mode because i make many mistakes because of my dislike for this particular deck. I just want to place down as many big minions as possible.
The only time I use casual is to complete a quest. I think the people I play against probably think I am a foolish scrub when I play a deck with only divine shield minions or only demons, but it is just to complete the quests. I hope they get a good laugh at me :-).
Many good players do not play on the ladder, and this results on a weird game mode where you sometimes have impossible matchups. Also the high ranks gold farmers that stay there when they reach the rank they want. My suggest is: when you got a quest like for example play x class cards and you assemble a random deck for it, just play them without attacking, and eventually your opponent, if he is like me, will let you play all the cards you want without tryharding.
i think its bad luck. You are probably on a wave of players who likes to bm.I mean, who doesnt understand when someone is playing a quest if he doesnt attack? Or maybe they had low time and they had to complete a quest fast, so this is what happened. I feel sorry bout that.
I know where you are coming from but you have to accept that people don't change. (Almost) everyone wants to win, in order to do that they do all the tricks in the book. Moreover winning in casual is way easier than winning in rank mode, this is a fact. Briefly no matter what you say or do nothing is going to change in casual mode unless Blizz makes some serious changes which is very unlikely in the short term.
Well, it depends what you think casual is for I guess. If you think it’s meant to be a risk-free space for trying out any deck then that’s exactly what it is. If you think it’s meant to be a place where you can just try out any crappy deck and only come up against other crappy decks then yeah, you’re going to be disappointed.
I would say it’s broadly functioning as intended, it’s a bit annoying that people sometimes go there just to grind out wins with a tier-1 deck but hey, you can always concede. After all, in casual it doesn’t matter.
i like when people say: you can just concede and move on. Like you are going to concede 10 times when u see a baku or even paladin before finding a not bming player for a fair and fun match. Do you think its fun to concede everytime? For me it isnt.and i guess it isnt for many other people.

As mentioned above it all ties back to the gold system that doesn't reward you for playing, but rather #winning.
