Is pally now even remotely close to what PIrate warrior was? For me pirate warrior was the worst experience and still is... Now i think we have a lot more tools to handle even the filling of the board every turn by odd pally, plus because of the ''odd'' thing it's ''slower'' (you know what i mean)... Personally i find the state of the game fine and of course will exist forever but not in the form of a big mistake like pirate warrior which every game was over by turn 4!
First off, you can't compare even and odd paladin to pirate warrior. Even paladin is more control/midrange with the tools it's able to have(wild pyro, consecration, equality, tarim, etc.) Odd Paladin is just a straight-forward, mash hero power and buff all your 1/1s, As much as it is, dude spamming does have counters and is really not impossible to stop it. It's just a matter of drawing your board clears and whatnot. Pirate warrior was ridiculous since going against it meant you either start with 29 or 27hp depending how crazy their hand was. If you want to do a real side-by-side comparison, pirate warrior had a great deal of charge minions and weapons(2 mana fiery war axe and heroic strike) and all of that was cheap and fast. Dude paladin has to maintain dudes and build them up to at least turn 4 or 5 to get them to actually be threatening.
In conclusion, no it's not remotely close. It is braindead and requires very low IQ to pilot the deck but it's not hard to beat. IF you can't draw your board clear well...join the rest of the neverlucky squad. Even paladin is fine imo,
I don't think either variant of paladin is as bad as pirate warrior. Paladin still needs to interact with your board a lot of the time.
It's still as equally unfun as playing against pirate warior though - it's the situation where if your deck can't beat that deck (pirate warrior, paladin, etc) it won't be a successful deck so it limits extremely deck design.
This is not a salty thread so ofc anyone can have their opinion and just say it. And i agree in the most part with you... when i ''compare'' these decks it's because of the soooo many threads there are complaining about the tier 1 decks and now tier one is even and odd pally.... i also really like even pally! But these tier 1 decks are nothing compare to where pirate warrior was in its prime so i think they are not such a big problem and that you can still win them with a good percentage
I never really got the pirate Warrior hate. But then, I played Reno Lock and stabilized often enough. I guess it's a matter of which deck you played.
It's not really apples to apples, though. I'd compare Pirate Warrior more to Baku Hunter and Kobolds Secret Mage. Secret Mage was the absolute worst to me; at least Pirate Warrior could run out of steam. Secret Mage could drop Aluneth and double ice block, ignore your board, and just sent everything to face and pull off stupidly improbable wins even getting in hardly any minion damage.
Looking at the daily winrates of odd and even pally, how pirate warrior was and how midrange shaman was, is it slightly worrying that the most braindead decks end up having the highest winrates in hearthstone?

it gives me shivers just thinking about midrange shaman era
This early on, aggro decks are going to be performing better as control decks take awhile to figure out which control tools are the best to include and when to use them.
And if you dont have all the pieces you just auto lose to high quality aggro decks like odd pally which is just straight up good and will be even when the meta settles

Love and peace to al!
Throw a couple of Taunt minions at Pirate Warrior and it just fell over a cried salty tears. Try that against Aggro Paladin and they just clear and refill the board again easily.
So no, PW was nowhere near as toxically bad as Paladin is. Paladin isnt the new PW either. It’s so much worse on many levels.
Nothing will ever be as bad as MSoG's pre-STB nerf Pirate Warrior. People just forgot how bad it was back than. Turn 5 was mystical land that you got to experience every 50th game. Just thinking about that time period makes me salty.

Sorry, but no deck was ever as bad as Goblin vs. Gnomes Undertaker Hunter. This deck was beyond crazy, compared to this, Pirate Warrior was quite beatable.
Unnerfed Undertaker was probably one of the most op cards ever.
I don't understand why people are classifying even paladin with odd paladin. Are you guys even aware of the fact that even paladin does not dude spam? Like it blows my mind how people do not see the difference at all. The deck is a midrange/control deck. That's nowhere close to what odd paladin does with its 0 iq dude spam "look at me i can hero power and flood the board hurr durr". It does not run the same nor does it function the same. Even paladin aims to control the board and temp out and cards like cta, juggler, jailor, and sivler sword help with that. And it runs late gamers such as lich king, tyrion to help.
Like damn if anything it takes more skill to play even paladin than odd. All you have to do with odd is open up with jungle and divine favor and you win no matter what. Im a control paladin player and im salty that my favorite class is now known for degenerate aggro decks.
For PW there was even dedicated gadgets to help you with your - how complicated - goal :D On screen we have Hunter - coundn't find image for warrior :D

Hah! I think there was also a spinner where 9 options said "go face" and 1 said "trade".

I think most people here rarely run into Even Paladin so they just assume it is similar to normal and odd. At least on the EU servers, I climbed from 15 to 6 and I only met a few, but Odd pallies appeared every 3 games or so.
Of course, all that is about to change now that Even Paladin tops the Tempostorm meta chart. People are going to be flocking to the deck...

Have you visited wild lately? Just curious
