Because Wild is terrible. I am happy when cards I hate rotate out. Why should I play against them forever? I would stop having fun and be tilted constantly.
People have said, but Anyone who started playing since the introduction of wild have limited access to the cards and can't afford it
I've played since Naxx, but I still play standard because people are always tinkering with the new cards and the limited card pool. It feels current, and generally fresh. Especially at the start of an expansion.
Yep, I really like how the meta freshened up after playing all those aggro paladins, cubelocks and spiteful decks before the rotation. Oh, wait.
Just because this happened once doesnt mean it will always happen. Un Goro meta was great fun.
honestly bro i have no idea lol. i'm 100% on board with everything you say. standard is and always has been boring. it's not like magic, where you have more cards and standard makes more sense because everything thing else is a lot more expensive. and there's the shake right there. the only reason to play standard is if you're starting out and can't afford to get all the old cards. but it shouldn't take long to get all the cards you want out of wild even if you're free to play.
The main reason, whether people realize it or not, is Power Level.
In Magic: The Gathering, from largest (and Oldest) card pool to newest (smallest card pool) you have Legacy, Vintage, Modern, Standard. As you go back into deeper card pools, the power levels get much, much higher, including the opportunity for turn 1, and frequent turn 2 kills.
Some people enjoy that power level, others do not. Magic also has a format called "Pauper" which means only common cards can be used. The power level in this format is VERY low, yet, it's a fun format to play since everyone is on the same power level, and you see cards that you wouldn't normally see.
I think you can draw similarities between magic and hearthstone in that respect. There are many more "broken" combos in Wild than in Standard....
My personal opinion is that Team 5 does just an atrocious job of card balancing between the classes, and we get broken combos like cubelock and priest which make Standard feel a lot more like Wild anyways. So I'm with you on the "why would you even play standard" thing, but, if you're lookin' for a reason. That's the one, I think.
I always hated broken interactions or stupid cards. I also dislike OTK decks. About the first part I would say the Naga Sea Witch combo, about the second - Tunnel Trogg (maybe not a strong example anymore, since shaman is weak overall, but that card is just stupid), DR. OP. OP, Jade Idol etc.
Dunno for the others, but Standard does feel fresh to me. Maybe kinda repetitive at one time, but still better than the stupid combos I have to deal with in wild.
...then all over again. Always refreshing. Sometimes you loose to novice, sometimes you win better equipped guy. Today I played 9 games. 2 looses vs odd Paladin (last one barely); but 1 win over full odd Hunter with Priest. Then, victory over noob Kingsbane guy by playing 3/3 Ooze. Later, I lost to basic Shaman because of terrible draw. One game was won by hilarious top deck... Another lost after connection problem which prevented me to kill important 1hp guy by druid power... and so on...
If you don't have top decks (and don't care about it) and don't want to play against magical top decks every moment, then just play casual. Matchmaking balances everything in the end. I still wonder why are players so obsessed with getting a rank in this game - to only complain about 'always the same decks' and getting poor rewards after so much sweat?! Try to enjoy a single game experience.

Because Standard is "the standard". It's what they use in part to differentiate the pros and best players from not. Wild has it's own meta too but they are all SUPER broken decks (naga I'm looking at you) so I don't even touch it. Casual you get nothing out of except completing quests. Arena I simply don't enjoy.

I think that this concern is partially unfounded. You never see things like Dr. Boom or Mech Mage and even Christmas Tree Pally sees way less play. So you really don't all of the old hated decks constantly to be honest.
Wild ladder actually looks very similar to standard ladder, with Kingsbane Rogues, Big Priest, and Giant decks thrown in.
I think it's cheaper because of rotation. You don't have to worry about making a new deck every year (from a competitive viewpoint). Also, there are cheap cards like piloted shredder, or sludge belcher which helps a lot.
Because standard is more competitive. Winning means less when your opponent isn't trying their best
Because I came up with or want to play with a deck that works fine with just Standard cards. Why expose my deck to more powerful wild cards that I won't be using?
Or, are you thinking of people who started playing around game release time?
In general short term standard is cheaper long term wild is cheaper this is because standard has a lower up front investment where wild long term is cheaper due to more of your collection rotating as time goes on. If you dust your full wild sets on rotation you only get 1/4 ROI but keeping them you maintain a larger collection overall.

Every time I try wild I find it to be a less pool of broken combos and degenerate aggro.

The best mode: casual.
Game1 - net deck
Game2 - novice
Game3 - net deck noob
Game4 - imaginative homebrew
Game5 - equal opponent
Game6 - 1legendary deck guy
Game7 - meme
Game8 - noob stomper

How is this preferable to playing in wild where there are many more solid decks that you can hit high ranks with?
u mean broken decks right ? turn 4 coin into 5 5 naga and her giant kingdom 8 8 board spam
or turn 3/4 barnes into ysharj into etc / balanced jade mechanism etc etc HELL NO TY
Why do people stick to a format where, generally, only 3-5 decks are mainly played? There are actually much more deck type in standart :D
All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them.

Because I hated Reno Jackson. That is the first card I passionately hated and was overjoyed to see rotated out. I spit on his grave
1) For tournaments
2) To avoid naga bugs.
That's about it.
