What deck are you considering him for? Hs's not really run in anything other than meme recruit shaman which can pull it out with Master oakheart. Too slow for aggro, and outclassed in elemental shaman, where you can discover him through servant of kalimos relatively consistently anyway
no tbh he hasn't been used in decks for over yr well any notable ones hell i think ever since rockbiter was nerfed alikr died that plus its being not a good fit into any meta decks for shaman for the past while and honestly even tho he has an elemental tag there are better elementals hell kobald and catacombs "alikr totem deck" never got played to any success.
I own a copy of him, and until recently had Al'Akir in my Elemental Shaman deck in-part because I figured "hey, why not?" I also lack Kalimos, Primal Lord; arguably a much better Elemental in the 8-mana position. Regardless, I have since removed Al'Akir: he's just not enough, his cost is high, and he can be Discovered via Servant of Kalimos if desired like Kwakdizzle mentioned.
Safe craft? I guess you could say that, but there are far more, better Legendaries to consider instead.
Behold, foolish interlopers! I am commanding this mortal to spread the will of the Scourge throughout the interwebs, encouraging you to seek out me, Archlich Kel'Thuzad! Now coming to you as the tenth class of Hearthstone!
I am a finalist in this Class Creation Competition, so if you could give it a look I would be greatly appreciative <3
I wouldn't consider crafting due to the fact that an shaman deck with Al'Akir is weak. plus the only time i see him in game is off of unstable evolution.
it's a safe craft, but a pretty useless one for now. It might see some play in a few expansions. So I guess you can wait till then (cause you might open him from Brawl packs by that time). If no - you can always craft him, when he becomes to see some play.
P.S. opened him from a pack and felt okay myself. Used him in some brawls, elemental-fun shamans, etc.
Yeah, like pretty much everyone else has said, unless he is one of the only legendaries out of all sets you need to craft, use your dust for something else.
+1 to everybody who says Al'Akir is no longer playable -- as has been mentioned, since the Rockbiter nerf.
But a different point: if he is one of the few legendaries that you don't have in Classic, then why bother, even if you like it? You still get Classic packs from Tavern Brawl and dailies, and you'll get a legendary every 20 packs or so on average. Since there are no longer duplicate legendaries in pack opening, then aren't you bound to get it the much cheaper way sooner or later anyway?
I am missing two Classic legendaries at this point and I figure it would be silly to craft them, because after that then it is just duplicate legendaries out of those packs.
I'd save the dust - eventually, you'll open him in a pack. He saw a good deal of play during the open beta, and virtually none since Naxx. In the olden days, he was used in a burst combo with Rockbiter Weapon as a finisher. But Rockbiter was nerfed, and as expansions dropped and added more cards to the pool, better finishers became available . . .
Just curious as he is one of the few legendaries I am missing in the classic set.

If you are only missing a few legendaries from classic, you will probably open the rest in the next year or two. :D

Not at all, like all the shaman class.
8 mana 3/5s suck. Maybe if he had Lifesteal too he would be worth it in control.
He was OK when Rockbiter cost 1 mana, but even then Doomhammer was superior, and there was no point in playing both.
With all the power creep, plus Rockbiter nerf, he is a trash tier legendary similar to Millhouse.

Definitely don't spend 1600 dust on him.

If it's in Shaman then don't craft it. The only Shaman cards that have ever been worth getting were Tunnel Trogg and Totem Golem and they're Wild. :)

Even shaman is showing promise lately, and he does reasonably well in that deck!
He should be pretty far down your list, though.

I used to play it for burst when Rockbiter Weapon only costed 1. Now it's less useful, but it can be good if you also play 2 Corpsetaker in your list.
You should listen his description: "The weakest of all Elemental (Lord)".
One word: NOPE.
Don't mind me just passing by
