As many people are saying: Cubelock punishes Mid-range too heavily as it is able to cheat out large bodies and thus consistently win the board during the crucial '''mid-game" turns. Mid-range has been a dead dead Archetype since basically when Knights launched as the DK's punish that playstyle too heavily.
Even if you are able to deal with the doomguards as they come out and are cubed, Gul'dan will finish you when it is played on turn 10 (which inevitably happens due to warlock draw).

Midrange is far from dead in this game.
My bad, I forgot the OTHER deck that cheats out huge minions early lol. Man, they really need to do something about that between Lackey, Call To Arms, and Summoner. Smh.
I don’t think the elemental mage will be all that great. That being said, I don’t know why people would want to go entirely spell-less. I would think that the spellstone, primordial glyph and poly would still show up in most decks. No reason to cut all spells.
It will still be outvalued by Cubelock without a doubt
I don't think so. N'Zoth is rotating out and Mage has access to Polymorph. It's hard to keep up with the hero power long term, but there's only so much minion presence they can generate when you take a couple of demons out of the pool, and Frost Lich Jaina can keep up with Bloodreaver Gul'dan if you're playing minions.

Totally agree that blizzard went overboard with "cheat" cards. Most of the t1 decks now cheat mana curve in some way... I'll still take it over the patches/pirate package agro meta.
Watch out for rush in a week. We might be seeing a similar discussion between the new key word and rotation.
Mage is my favorite class, but I don't think elemental mage will be that great (as much as I want it to be)
The deck has tons of value and draw but not enough tempo. You can have a handful of elementals but it's still going to be a slow process playing them all. Compare it to something like warlock where they are cheating out their big cards for free.
I suppose there's leyline manipulator to discount your cards but I don't think it will be enough.
EDIT: also polymorph is not a counter to cubelock. Sure it helps but they can easily play around it.

You only have 2 polymorphs vs many, many demons because of cube.
And a lot of these theorycrafted decks aren’t even running poly.
Regardless, the power creep with K&C has increased to the point that even an overstatted 6 drop on 6 isn’t enough. You need a 10 drop on 6. Whatever new decks pop up at rotation will either be able to do that or are aggro. Rush may be able to handle them too because losing the board isn’t as disastrous but mid range is just too slow

Aggro have a chance of killing the warlock before the bullshit start, heavy control now have a chance of outvalue them because N'Zoth is out but midrange can't do anything similar, don't have strong enough early or lategame for that.
Whit the new legendary minion Archmage Arugal and the epic draw power of Book of Specters and whit a new brand azure drake that is Bonefire Elemental
I think it will be a really good midrange deck what u think about it?
Good midrange decks don't exist and don't will exist until nerf hammer hit very hard the warlocks.
Unless of course we get an extremely powerful tech vs demons, something like Geist but better.
Hmmmm its almost like no one knows yet, so idno maybe just Wait and See instead of looking for problems

Also: I don't see any mage deck that doesn't run double Polymorph seeing play this expansion unless Cube gets nerfed.

I don't think it will be broken, but it will probably be a good deck.
