simple question. do you play whatever deck you play cause its fun and its your favourite deck to play, or because it has a high win rate or ladders fast. I'm just asking cause many people complain about whatever top tier deck and I'm thinking that you can probably just play a top tier deck also or the same deck if it annoys you so much to lose to those top tier decks.
I'll play powerful fast decks only if I'm struggling to break the rank 5 floor. Otherwise, I play a mix of high tier control decks such as ctrl priest or warlock and fun gimmick decks such as Oakheart Druid or wild midrange pala.
Many of the tight and refined deck lists get boring after a while imo.
If you are in Hearthstone just for the wins, boy oh boy, you're gonna have the biggest rages of your entire life! LOL.
haha true! but many people are upset about decks such as secret burn mage lets say, even though I'm pretty sure there are counters to it, like playing dude pala from what I've heard.
Just depends. If I want to get to a good rank where I can screw around, I'll use something like Cubelock or Dude Paladin. Then I'll switch to something more fun, like Steal Priest or Casino Mage.
Seems like just about everyone plays to get wins, with decks they find fun to play. The only time I play decks that I don't find fun is when I have to knock out a Murloc quest, and for quests, I suppose others also will play a deck they don't particularly like just to get it over with. That's the excuse everyone gives for playing a terrible agro pally or jade druid in casual anyway, haha.
I prefer top tier decks but also according to the style I like , I usually only play aggro when I need some quick ranks or wins for my quests. But prefer decks like DK highlander priest , Control / Reno / Handlock , Miracle Rogue , Patron Warrior , Controll Warrior , Ramp Druid even Jade I gues. Just decks that require some form of thinking and usually have more options in there hand also longer games.
When I play games or sports I play to win cause its a challenge and satisfying and I usually try to push out every % to raise that chance. Ofcourse I don't care if DK Priest had 63-73% winrate for me and Control lock had less for example both are strong decks and I like the style, both can get me to high ranks.
I never initially play a deck because I think it is "fun". I play a deck because I feel it is strong and I can "win" with it as winning equals fun for me. So for me, my selection is "play deck for wins". However, as time goes on with a deck I am playing I do have to find myself enjoying it or I will switch to another deck.
I do both to some extent... the rush to 5 I’ll use some variant of tier 1 meta that I’ll refine based on what I’m facing. After I hit 5 it’s testing homebrews, which are usually more fun but aren’t as consistent.
one deck I had wild success with was a hadronox/astral tiger Druid ... so much fun when Cubelocks figure out they don’t have enough damage to close out the game...
When I'm winning, I have fun. Similarly, I have fun when I play decks that win.
I have fun playing secret mage *ducks under flying tomatoes* and miracle rogue. I can win with both decks above rank 5. I guess ultimately I play to win. But, I also have fun while playing to win haha. Tough to really answer the question =P.

its a great question. As an old tournament chess player, i love competition and strategy&tactical games. So i play for those reasons, which is fun and challenging. Most of my games are casual home brew decks. However, lately i have been getting better at rolling with the RNG and not freaking out when i lose a few games or a rank or 2. For me fun = 1v1 battles where the best person wins. i prob picked the wrong game for that but im hooked now and will be sticking around for awhile longer.
thers alot of fun in building a deck around a spwecific theme or card interaction. even if the deck sucks balls, if its fun to play, i play it in casual mode. sometimes ibuild a viable ladder deck and take t as far as i can on ladder. losing streaks can happen and thats not fun IMO.
whenevr it becomes a grind or a chore to play, i build the most meme ridden, fun dedck i can and play in casual mode. im that guy that plays dragon warlock and menagerie paladin.
I absolutely live for deck building and love trying to come up with stuff that is not mainstream. But I don't find it fun if I lose 70% of the games with those decks. So I try to create an original deck that wins! The more the better!
I don't find it fun to grind with proven decks like Cubelocks or Dude Paladins.
Most of the time I'm playing tier 2 or tier 3 decks that I enjoy, so I can do both at the same time, and when I hit rank floors I try some wacky things just for fun for a while.
I also play tier 1 sometimes if I enjoy the deck and consider it challenging, for example I played some cubelock and control warlock this season, but no aggro paladin.
I play for fun and currently I'm not having to much fun. Atm I rarely play more than 3 to 5 matches in a row simply because the game is in a stall and boring state...
Been legend once and can't be bothered grinding through the same meta decks over and over again. If I can't win enough with my classes or deck of choice I simply don't play. WInning is not everything in a game that has so much rng and highroll bs going on.

For fun from memes.
Where shall I start...
Fun. Who the hell cares about the ladder if you aren't an E-sporter.

went legend once, not impressed
fun is the only thing that this game has to offer theres no"competitive hearthstone" in my humble opinion

To me the options collide.

I play to win until I have my daily quests done, and once that's out of the way I can play decks for fun that I actually enjoy. xD
Like some have probably said before, I mainly play to hit legend, then become one of the meme-y gatekeepers between 1 and L.
TL:DR: I play for L, then play to take Ls.
I play for fun and currently I'm not having to much fun. Atm I rarely play more than 3 to 5 matches in a row simply because the game is in a stall and boring state...
