How in the world do you all save so much dust and gold? Serious question
I have amassed Gold and Dust from spending money on packs occasionally or playing Arena. Arena is definitely the way to go if you want to play Hearthstone for free. Once you get good at it, Arena wins will sustain a players free to play ability. I have pretty much only played Arena for the last 2-3 weeks and I have played probably 15-20 Arena runs in that time. I had 5,100 gold when I started and I currently have 4,900 gold. Between solid Arena runs and doing my dailies during Arena I have managed to stay roughly at the same gold amount and I've gotten numerous packs, dust, and cards.
Should have around 6k gold maybe a bit more at launch and think I currently have around 11k dust but I think I'll probably spend 1-3k in the next week or so to craft 2x dragon's fury for a big spell mage and possibly Alanna and maybe some other random stuff (wouldn't mind otk pally but I'm missing dk uther, 2x call to arms, tarim, and beardo, which last I'm not sure I really want to craft right before it rotates). Will also almost certainly preorder

Every expansion so far I normally spend 10k gold on 100 packs and I buy the pre-order.
The rest of my gold will be used so I never have to worry about going broke in arena. I built up a huge amount of gold back in the day and I would always suggest new players or those with little gold play arena instead of buying packs.
My dust count it low because this last expansion has had so many must have epics and caved and crafted a lot. I like to be able to play every viable deck not just a couple of them. I think if I don’t get more lucky with my pack opening this time I might not be able to keep up as I have been even playing arena as much as I used to. This is of course Blizzards aim. They have been Increasing the number of ‘must have’ epics and legendaries each expansion. More Free packs mean nothing when each is one is often 40 dust and an epic is 400 to craft and rare to see in packs :/

By the time of launch, I'll have around 1200 gold and 1600 dust + preorder. I only started saving up recently because I wanted to max out KotFT pity timer and I bought Karazhan as well. I plan on hoarding gold 2 months before the next expansion.

I always end up around or above the 4.000 gold mark for each expansion. Given that I usually start rather early (I have my own system) to bank some gold as I usually do. That includes a lot of days I've just skipped doing daily quests (ending up losing one the day after) because hey, there's a lot of other games to be played. So it's not a hard goal to reach but it has always been enough to keep up with the game without spending money. I don't collect everything, I collect what I want and what's needed - e.g what's actually worth getting.
My system works like this.
I get 40+ packs (all my current gold) each expansion. Then I keep buying packs with gold each time I can afford it until I've opened up 3 Legendary cards beyond the first initial packs. After that I go back to just hoarding gold. I can build all current decks except the meme-iest of the meme-iest of decks (though with some d/e I certainly could. I always d/e golden cards I already own 2 regular of.. unless it's for my favorite class. Hey, one can have a dream to complete a full Golden deck for that class one day.. right?). :)
That's all there is to it. Thank you for listing to my story.
I spent a lot of Gold on Kobolds packs so I am pretty short at the moment. By the time of release I will only have around 3K. I will most likely take advantage of the preorder this time around to make up for it. Plus I feel good about the extra 20/30 packs in this bundle. Also, this will only my 2nd expansion purchase ever, WotOG being my only other so far.
I had no copies of Ice Block so I went a head and crafted 2 golden versions of those in order to get a bonus 800 dust. Which puts me at a total of around 6.500 dust if the HoF enacted right now.
As a F2P(mostly), that 'ought to keep my collection in a solid state through the spring.
I heard that golden legendaries don’t reset your pity timer. U might want to double check that though. I opened a golden Voraxx from the Mammoth Bundle and about 5 packs later I opened Umbra.
My goal is to open at least 150 packs each expansion. I bought the preorder, and have 8200 gold and 19,5k dust saved up.
3k gold + 2k dust (and whatever I get from the HOF, which should be 4x golden epics)

RETRACTED: I forgot what a big difference gold makes. I'll have around 7K by release, which is basically a second preorder.
