As a lover of aesthetics, there actually is an innate value to golden cards. Let's say you pull a golden Cho, had this been a normal Cho you would have gotten 400 dust instead of 1600. Meaning a golden legendary has dust value, same with literally every other golden card that can be dusted.
I can trade golden Cho, for Prince Kelthe or any other legendary I need.
Now the next question
"Why would you make one?!"

Many people like rarer shiny things, even if they have to devote a resource (Time/currency) to get it. I for one will definitely use the dust I have right now for Baku the World Eater. I also like golden cards for commons, because it just looks nice.
Same reason I like shiny Pokemon, and currently shiny hunting as I write this. Only shiny hunters are MUCH more rare then a golden legendary pull in hearthstone
I only disenchant my golden cards if I have two copies of its common version. This is sad to me because I'd like to have enough arcane dust to support a collection full of shiny cards.
I really love having golden legendaries, and I have quite a few (most of them unplayable). I have never bothered to craft one, but I've always wanted to!
Every time I play a golden legendary, I just try to imagine what my opponent is thinking: "This idiot totally plays this game way too much, what a loser!" In my head, everyone is as salty as me :)

Your first point is just really stupid, of course opening a golden legendary is good in every single aspect, you either get a really good card and it shines a lot more or you get ez 1600 dust, I don't think in either scenario anyone would be like "goddamit I wish this was a regular card and not golden, stupid game, never lucky", It's just common sense so no reason to "clarify" such an obvious point, it seems really dumb to me that this was your starting point to try to make people change their minds about golden cards, of course I'd much rather get 1600 dust for my shitty Cho or Millhouse instead of 400 dude.
In regards to the aesthetics, well yeah, some people like shiny and different stuff and will pay as high as the price can go even if it does the exact same thing as the non-shiny version, I only have 2 golden legendaries in my collection and a few other golden cards, Gul'dan and Tarim, I opened both and it would make no sense to dust them only in order to craft them regular but I would never craft any golden card,I just play the game to have fun and I'm a really competitiv person so I also like to win, so having said that I care more about being able to get more cards in order to play more decks and see which one is better and/ or with which I feel more comfortable with in order to win more but if you want to have your golden stuff then more power to you, to me it doesn't make sense to pay more for a card that does exactly the same stuff that my regular good ol' card does just cause it has a golden border and it's animated really, I much rather have more cards instead of less but prettier cards, but again if you like em' shiny then more power to you friend.
At the end it's just a matter of if you care more about having more cards so your collection is bigger or having shiny cards so your collection looks prettier... Or well your name could be Kripparian or Kibler and you put hundreds (probably even thousands) of dollars every expansion in order to have all the cards and all of them (or most of them) golden.
well my first priority is having every card to fool around with every possible deck. i opened a golden thalnos twice and dusted one. thats the only shiny legendary i own, im craving hard for that golden GulDan though :(
I like golden cards a lot, but I keep a few simple rules for myself.
1. I keep golden minion cards that I open from packs, I do not craft them ever. This way they never cost me more. If I would dust it, I would only be able to craft a normal one anyway. 2. They have to be minions that are decent to use in any future decks. If I don’t think I will ever play it I dust it. 3. When I win a golden card and it is a spell, I dust it!

It's all about personal feel and aestethic: personally I don't like the golden cards because they lost their class color border, but I like the animation. Always dusted them but since I've got a golden Priest (got it during WotOG) I can't see the wooden Hero Power token when you shift to Shadowreaper Anduin, so I crafted it but I doubt I ever craft anything else outisde of DK for classes I already have golden.

For what profit is it to a man, if he gains the world and loses his own soul?
Honestly I don't put any added value to golden cards. I only keep them if I do not have 2 of their regular version. As for golden legendaries I have 3... just dusted my 4th (golden Illidan) as I am sure that will be the next legendary I open in classic. If I could do a convert of golden cards to the regular version and get a little dust from it I would do it at once. For me the amount of cards in my collection are more important then them being golden.
As of now, I have over 130 golden cards, including sweet stuff like The Lich King and Archmage Antonidas (and The Darkness, but I don't really like that one), with numerous epics. I'm keeping that stuff, unless I'd get incredibly pressed to craft some stuff, but I highly doubt it.
The bling value... it's just too damn high to pass it ;)
You’re going to waste dust crafting a golden legendary you didn’t even get the name right on.. I like a good golden card.. and I keep them when I get them.. but crafting a legendary Golden seems so wasteful.. I’d rather have two non golden legendaries than one gold one
Recently I have seen such comments such as
"Who even freaking cares about golden cards?"

Rational me don't care about gold cards, but compulsive collector me simply can't stop craving for more...
My golden rule ; if the card generates other card(s) then it is worth having it gold.
"What have you got there,
PinocchioMalygos?"The best value of golden cards is the dusting value, period.

Gold legendaries are a great way of getting the legendaries you actually want instead.
That’s their value.

My rule I only craft golden cards.
They look pretty and are worth more dust, I personally like to collect them and keep them.

I've started keeping golden cards since making the mistake of disenchanting cards like golden Shadow Visions and Radiant Elemental (back in the day also golden Knife Juggler and I had two copies, and Cabalist's Tome).

I've no clue what I'm doing...
Nowadays im saving dust for my awaken the makers + majordomo executus golden deck (majordomo is already golden )
This is why I craft them - because it makes my ePenis grow!
...The problem is not the problem, the problem is your attitude to the problem.

Seems ok.
Not just aestetics, it is a good showoff too. Many people like jewellery, designer clothes and other expensive stuff that is not necessary in any way.
I craft some golden cards as tributes to cards and classes I like, the last one being
