Honestly, I'm incredibly excited for this set - mainly because of Rush. Rush is something that I think people are under-appreciating, and it's great that they're finally adding this mechanic to the game, and will hopefully keep using it in later sets.
Charge was fundamentally broken, because it has to be balanced around the fact that you can hit face immediately - which inherently forces the minion to be bad for trading. That's why we never really got any Charge minion that was used for anything other than hitting face.
Being able to attack and trade with a minion immediately after you play it is actually a great thing. You have far more chances to proactively try to take the board back from the opponent, making a favourable trade and leaving a body behind, instead of just dropping a minion and letting your opponent kill it on their terms. It makes the fight for the board seem much more dynamic and gives it that sense of back-and-forth. We never really get a chance to do that much in HS, beyond having Battlecries.
I play Shadowverse a lot, and one of the things I love most about it is that you have constant access to Rush in the earlier stages of the game. It stops things from feeling like 'oh hey my opponent has the board and now he gets to dictate all the trades, guess I lose' - which is a feeling I get a lot more often playing board-centric decks in HS.
Basically, Rush makes the game more fun, and I love it.
the word "dark" wasn't really meant to say its a more serious expansion but more "monster like" i guess, naxx, black rock and un'goro were more action adventures(maybe cuz i did the raids in wow and see them more as "lets go heroes to an adventure" and less like "oh damn there are some scary creepy things here"). You can argue old gods fit that theme of "darker" by the trailer and i'd say you are right. It's not bad by any means but we are hunting a witch(by what the trailer implied) so it made sense for me to be more a halloweenish expansion type.
I'm really excited to see what they do with "Echo", it has potential to move many underdog decks into Tier 1 and help mill decks that are about to go away with HoF Coldlight Oracle. Imagine the following:
echo +atk buff for Kingsbane
echo version of Coldlight Oracle or some "draw a card" mechanic
echo pets for Face Hunter, which is about to die with Alleycat going away
Explosive-Rune-like secret that stacks via echo mechanic to give hunter builds better AoE removal
echo-based mechanic for Druid decks to replace Jades that are going away
I'm guessing the "Rush" mechanic was similarly introduced to buff up Warrior decks.
I do fear that echo will completely break Wild synergies and introduce things like 50+ dmg Kingsbanes. Perhaps Blizzard should change Wild to have both heroes start off with 60 HP instead of 30.
She's no where near comparable to Divine Favor......
People are doing the dream scenerio again. dump all of your cards by turn 7, then refill with big minions afterwards.
The scene works ONLY if you are a tempo based deck with no card draw against a heavy control deck that hasn't wrecked you by turn 7 AND lets you drop a 3/3 and pass turn with no consequences.
If you have good cards that synergize, it's a bad card to have as it kills those cards. If your opponent is a combo deck it's a bad card because you'll get only part of the combo similar to why priest never likes stealing from rogue. If your opponent is aggro or tempo it sucks because they'll be low on cards. If your opponent is burn or midrange it's bad because dropping a 3/3 that does nothing at turn 7 means you are either so ahead you can waste a turn or you're going to die next turn.
It's a Johnny card. It's not going to be useful in most cases but it's going to be a hoot trying to get it to 'work'. someone might figure it out and create a deck with it, but it won't be a normal use card.
I am disappointed that they printed other even, odd cards I hope they just did it only one minion for each class and we don't see any other even odd cost cards.
I'm interested in seeing what two decks will dominate and will never be fixed, thus ruining another expansion (which would be 13/13 horribly designed, uninteresting metas - I guess I had to admit, I admire the consistency of these terrible designers).
3 free packs and a Class legendary just for logging in, 50 pack preorder nets you 20 bonus packs free.

Why Rogue is my favourite class:
My submission for this week's card design competition.

Garrosh did nothing wrong.

Kripp wasn't happy about it, but I'm glad we get a neutral Divine Favor for 7 mana.

One does not simply walk into Mordor,
unless they want to be the best they can be.
