Just as a post directed to people, who are disappointed for not winning the packs:
Don't feel bad, guys. Only a small percentage of the player base has been randomly awarded and you happen not to be part on this small group. Better luck next time, what can I say.
[edit] Inb4 dunno about you, but I feel grateful to blizzard for arranging such events. This one particularly was accessible to all players* - you weren't obligated to purchase something, nor you had to go in the middle of nowhere to play a game with bunch of strangers, nor you had to make an account by one of Blizzard's advertising partners (Twitch) etc etc. No, everyone* could participate and all it took was to accomplish an easy task (to do your daily quests) and everyone* had the same chances to win. I welcome such events, they make the game more exciting.
If you mean, that you were obligated to stick to 40g quests, just to complete the daily task, then ok. But in reality this contest was more than free and I still think, that this one was warmly welcomed by many, even if a small group actually got something. But nevertheless I also like the other events you mentioned - fire and frost festivals, the Hallow's End etc.
First off you could have been a bit more specific at the start. Secondly this is not really costing you gold - you didn't purchase anything, nor you spent your gold on anything at all (see the heroic brawl fee). If you are salty for sticking to the 40 gold quests, then there was an option to "pass over" this "issue" by saving some 50 or 60 g quests and to complete them in that period.
Seriously, complaining about those 40g quests seems silly to me.
[edit] Blizzard will continue to arrange events like the Mid summer one, where you will get tons of gold. Don't worry about your in-game money.
Sign. If you are going to keep using such an agressive tone, then I'll better stop wasting my breath on you, as those conversations don't lead to anything constructed.
Tell me - when was the event announced? Was it right on the 1st of February, immediately taking place w/o people's knowledge or a bit earlier? Now I admit, that I also didn't bother to save my quests, but there was the opportunity to consider that and you can't deny it. Even if it ment, having a single day to do that. Plus I think, that they were some people like me, who had more quests in their disposal at that time and they could always 1) save them or 2) reroll them, in order to get the beefy ones. But if this isn't the case for you, once again, making a big deal out of those 40g quests sounds really lame. You really don't sound mature when complaining about such small things.
And before you call me a fanboy once again, let me tell you something:
My perspective towards Blizzard is neutral. I have never spent a single cent on them, I have never purchased anything, nor have I tried to advertise their stuff to my friends. So far I have played only 3 games - WoTLK (downloaded from a Bulgarian site), Startcraft, because my friend wanted me to play together, and HS, because it's free and retardedly easy.
And I don't blindly defend every action they take. If I have an objective opinion, why shouldn't I express it? Right now I can think of the Heroic Tavern Brawls, where you were obligated to spend 1000 gold in order to participate. Of course, because those events took place just before an expansion release, most of the people, who were saving their gold for that time, weren't willing to risk a big portion of their investments in a lost cause. And they could only watch others play them (mainly streamers). And I was against this brawl - this was a pure act of milking the players and noone could deny that. I also didn't accept other changes - like the recent ladder ones. I think, that having both checkpoints (ranks 15, 10 and 5) and returning the players 4 ranks back is just making the ladder way too easy. I also didn't approve the Nemsy Fireside gatherings and I expressed my opinion in the appropriate threads.
But just because I have a one, which happens to defend a certain act, that doesn't make me a fanboy. You really sound a bit narrow-minded. I mean - why do you deny, that Blizzard did SOMETHING for the community, or better said - why do you think, that someone, who actually realises it, is a blind fanboy? Blizz arranged a fucking free event, this doesn't happen that often and why shouldn't we appreciate that? Imagine someone in a store giving you free food to sample and then you spit it, just because you don't like the taste of it. It's the same case here - very disrespectful and childish imho. What do you want at the end? You sound like, as if you want Blizzard to give you your gold back; the one, which you "could have won, if you didn't participate" in this event? And you say, that I'm the one, who is making a fool of myself.
Let me get out my tiny violin. In fact, let me play Danny Boy for this entire stupid thread.
Don't play too energetic though. Looks like a long fall down from your high horse.
The really sad thing is people thinking that Blizzard gives them anything in the first place. It's like scraps to a starving dog. They give you 100 gold a day max for 30 freaking wins. In contrast, Eternal gives you a pack a day for a single win, pity timer of 20, every pack has 100 dust, and every quest has a card. Go ahead and clap back that I should just play Eternal because that's what I'm probably doing right now.

You were quick and I'm going to be as well - I rest my case. I just... Your words speak a lot about your mentality and there's no need for me to continue any further. You are probably going to get offended by this, but if this is the only thing you could say, if this is the only "argument" you can use, then, please, stay in the forums in the official site, where I have seen gajillion unconstructive posts from others like you.
I swear, people have to read their own posts, just to realise how stupid they sound. It was a bloody pack opening event. Would it have been better, if this didn't exist and we just waited dully for the next expansion?
I mean, if you wanted to complain about something else, something still regarding the same event, but another serious aspect, then I would have agreed. Like how some 3rd world countries couldn't participate or like Nimehte correctly said, how Blizzard doesn't inform the users enough about the end results. But just that your initial reaction towards the 40g quests shocked me.
I did all the dailies and there was nothing. If you won there is a prize in the gift tab and an email notification. Oddly enough there is not a single person claiming to win 30 packs on reddit, just a few people mentioning 3 packs. Fairly anticlimactic after 2 weeks of dailies.
Apparently it was all a scam because blizzard wanted to slow down people saving their gold from dalies to buy packs on the release of the next expansion..
what if there wasn't a prize to begin with and just a PR move to get more players back into the game?
(meanwhile cueing the x-files theme) looominaters confirmed!
I think it's server independent. Because you receive this by gifts and there you pick the server you want your packs delivered.
Got 3 packs today :)
