ISo i understand what im talking about is pretty Inflammatory but i feel like this needs to be talked about cause i believe the hearthstone will become more and more hostile towards new players and people that play ACTUALLY casually.
Im not sure why, but it seems to me that over the last year has become the most stall timeline in terms of decks that were played as considered as "Tier 1". Let me inform you guys and i hate to break this to you guys who watch websites like...tempostorm, reddit or even this website. but there is no such thing as "the best deck". Ive been playing Card games for over 7 years and i can understand the difference what a good card is...and what a good deck is. I played alot of magic the gathering before knowing about hearthstone and i can tell you that i know that powerful decks exist and people played them because they thought it would help them win. There is no problem playing a card because of its power level, its common sense. However players actually build to COUNTER those powerful cards and try and get ahead of the person you are playing against, this is what we call "rock paper scissors. "
Ive been playing hearthstone ever since the launch of Naxxramus. trust me ive lived through the meta of undertaker, Face hunter, grim Patron. I know the stress of getting rolled over by these decks and most of us have in terms of THESE decks. The difference we have now is that I feel as if the meta has become solved too quickly and thats because i feel that people have become numb to Social Norm that playing hearthstone is no longer for building and only for trying to Climb.
I believe this meta over the past few months have become the most stall its ever been and like i mentioned, ive been in many meta games. Ladder nowadays has become a game....not of rock paper and Scissor but its become a game of Rock hitting one another until someone gets knocked out. I know rotation is gonna change the meta and we dont know what blizzard will do in terms of hall of faming, but i fear that if they dont change decks like Warlock, it will still be the same meta game that we are currently in if the last year has shown us.
So whos to blame for this meta game we live in; is it blizzard? they do seems to print cards that brake the meta in the fact that almost every deck runs the Same minions IE, Corridor Creeper, Bonemare IE IE. I think thats just bad balancing and playtesting. Or it is the players? I know thats a very toxic thought but things like Esports and Netdecking has made the game for what it is; where you basically face the same 2 to 3 decks over and over and over again all because player X did well with it and people dont bother going on the lines of " what is this deck good against; should i change it to beat someone might be thinking im playing that list" The mindset of deckbuilding is gone and that it currently why the meta becames the way it is. It should be shocking that the game had 4 nerfs to the most played cards of this year...this nerf happened around 2 weeks ago and yet i can basically tell what my opponent is gonna play based off their class.
Hopefully Blizzard will change the ladder make it more enjoyable for players who actually want to enjoy building a deck or playing casually not get destroyed by the many people who basically netdeck. I know im gonna get some hate on this because people get touchy when it comes to someone judging them but i feel like this topic needs to be Talked about cause there are some times in this game where you can actually play a game of hearthstone and actually enjoy yourself! I just hope we can return to that soon.
You cant blame Internet for this. Blame the game. Which such a small amount of good cards, it is only a matter of time ppl figure out the best decks. Site like this only fasten the process, not a reason of it. Imagine an expansion which have 150 construct playabe cards, and 3 expansion like that on top, then we surely of many more kinda of decks. Do not blame Corridor creeper or Cube, because to be honest that the only playable cards in KnC
It's been like this for years. As long as people can net deck, they will. People will find optimal strategies in any games they play by watching pros or whatever.
The meta did change quite a bit after the nerfs went through to be honest. You don't really see highlander priest anymore where as before it was everywhere. Lots more Kingsbane rogues than the tempo rogues previously dominating the meta.
The best that blizzard can do is try to balance different classes so a variety of competitive decks can exist in the meta (10-15). Everything else will get crushed because they simply aren't as busted.
I recommend arena if you want more variety in your games because that forces people to play with suboptimal cards sometimes.
I can agree with this, netdecking has made the game less about deckbuilding and more about playing the "best top tier deck", which is a shame. The internet is a wonderful tool for hearthstone, because it does give players an idea of what cards synergize with one another, and what cards to craft, but does create a solidified meta as well.
I also agree with the idea that the internet is at least in part to blame. Reason being some of the best card games i have played have been long dead, and as such don't have anywhere to netdeck, even if you wanted to. Netdecking isn't the worst thing in the world, but it does make the game monotonous.
this is hearthstone heroes of netdecks, there is a reason they implemented deck codes so you can netdeck easier right.
only time i build my own decks is when i need to make some daily quests and its not necessary to win, otherwise its 90% netdecks even on rank 25 , game is just made this way boo hoo
Ok, lets think about this critically for a second. Casual play in Magic compared to casual play in Hearthstone.
If you want to build a Magic deck, what do you do? You take out your big stack of boxes, probably organized by color. You decide which color you are making and take out the cards that you want. Then you decide to splash another color in and have to go to another box. You take the cards out of that box that you want. You count the mana counts of all the cards that you have. You do some math about whether you think itd be better to have 19 lands or 22. And if its 22 is it better to go 10 and 12 or 9 and 13? You go to your mana box and take those cards out. You count out the number of cards and make sure that you did indeed only pick 60. If you're over by a few cards, we all know that it just makes the draws worse so you might as well pare down to 60. So you take the time to decide which of those cards you're cutting. Then you have to take those cards that you ended up cutting and make sure they're organized back into the right boxes. So get the first color box back out and put 'em in the right slot. Get the second color box out and put 'em in the right slot. Maybe even get the mana box out if that paring down of cards changed your mana composition. Now you call your buddy up and invite him over to play a game because you're excited to try your new deck. Oh... he can't play at the moment. Well you can just proxy it versus one of your other decks and play with him on Friday. You do that, dont like some of the draws end up having to get all those boxes out again just to change a few cards. Then on Friday, you finally get to actually play with your new deck and see if it worked.
Now lets do the same thing in Hearthstone. You click "New Deck" pick your class. Leaf through the pages slotting in whatever you feel like and press play.
Is it any wonder that the meta gets solved quickly?
I think it's pointless to blame the internet, since that is just a fact of life now. Besides, without the internet you wouldn't be able to play Hearthstone at all ;)
What would help, I think, is more and quicker balance changes and balance changes that would include buffs in addition to nerfs. That would make more decks viable and therefore increase deck diversity. Also players who make a custom deck that is good but not optimal are then less likely to get crushed on ladder.
By the way, I think the meta has been much worse in the past. There were times when everyone seemed to be playing Face Hunter or Secret Paladin and we've had the year of Shamanstone. Compared to that, the current meta is quite varied. A lot of classes have more than one commonly played deck: Spiteful Dragon Priest and Inner Fire Dragon Priest, Zoolock and Cubelock and Control Warlock, Mid-range Beast Hunter and No-minion Hunter.
I read the whole thing. No, net decking is not ruining Hearthstone and no, this past year was not the worst we've seen the meta. Hearthstone had the most varied meta over the entire last year than any other year in Hearthstone.
Yes, Blizzard absolutely sucks at doing stuff mid-expansion to keep people playing, a trend we see every expansion with our own traffic, and it would be great if they took a more hands-on approach to the game, but they're a small indie company and are still trying to figure it out.

Hearthstone is a game of "copy and pasting"
Too many words, can’t read it my dude. :P

TL;DR... are you talking about netdecking?
