My predictions ... based largely on historical data (with some tweaks as dates have already come and gone that should have been announcement dates).
Feb 19th (originally I thought the 6th or 13th but again Blizzard surprises me so maybe the 15th but probably not) - the year of the ??? will be revealed - cards that are moving to the hall of fame will be revealed
Feb 26th (Possibly March 5th based on other announcements being late) - Hearthstone's next expansion will be announced
April 9th (Really hoping not much later than this) - the new expansion will be released in the Americas with April 10th in all other regions. - The Year of the Mammoth will end ushering in the new year.
The Next Set?
Here is where I am purely going on wishful thinking and what I would like to see. The title I am tossing out there is "The Plaguelands" where I believe we will see an adventure centered around either Stratholm or Scholomance or possibly both. I believe this will bring us a new mechanic of plague that will be a damage over time effect to a minion or possibly even a hero or weapon. I am certain that they will continue the pattern of a legendary card for each class that is unique in some way such as the deathknights, weapons, and quests but I do not think they are ready to repeat any of those types in the form of monks or demonhunters or new quests or weapons so I think we will see something akin to the spells from the dungeon run that simply triggered at the start of the match when included in your deck.
so that's my 2 cents worth ... whats yours?
=D13=
p.s. I would like to see the new year called "Year of the DIre Wolf" in honor of the year of the dog but will more likely be "Year of the Fellhorn" or whatever the Warcraft name for unicorns is.
I could see them adding a legendary spell for each class. I know, obviously, the quests are considered spells, but I'm looking past that haha.
Has there been an expansion based on the outlands yet? I think that's what they were called... Haven't played WoW in forever. Talking about where Illidan resides and the draenei come from and all that. I bet there's an expansion based on that in the coming year.
Also, I know it seems kinda silly, but why don't they just have the heroes as a card? Maybe create a new "hero" class card if they really wanted somehow (ie it would just be Anduin, Valeera, etc). This would allow them to more easily create alternate heroes if they wanted. By this I mean, Cenarius could become a druid hero, or Tirion could be a paladin hero, and so on. It would give them more money haha.
I do like the idea of "If this card starts in your deck" but I realize that could be dangerous if they aren't careful. Maybe more "When this card is drawn" effects.

Well your prediction is already wrong. Though I'm surprised there hasn't been any new news yet, as this was usually the time they would announce the plans for the new year. Well I guess I'll give my predictions.
The new Year (I am calling it Year of the Serpent for the time being until we get the official name) will go back to two expansions and one adventure. The Adventure releasing in the Summer.
We're gonna get new Hero cards this year, probably in the first or last expansion of the year.
Quests will not make a return. My theory is because they died out real fast after Un'goro ended, and they require so much put into them to make them work. Hero cards and Legendary weapons had a bigger impact then those did
We may possibly get a Alliance vs Horde expansion to tie in with the new WoW expansion. In the past they were thinking of implementing a faction mechanic, so we could see it happen.
With Patches and the other 2016 Pirates rotating out, we're gonna get some new pirates, so brace yourself.
I don't think we're gonna get a new minion tribe. I think Blizzard wants to add more Pirates and Elemental synergy first, then 2019 we'll get a new tribe. (Fingers crossed on Undead.)
Possible ideas for Adventures: Darkmoon Faire, Pirate themed with the Southseas, Time Traveling adventure with the Bronze Dragonflight, featuring Chromie.
We're gonna get two class legendaries again. My guess is first expansion Hero cards, then second one new Legendary weapons.
Predictions for Hall of Fame Rotation: Ice Block (It has become a staple for Mages used in over 55% of all decks and is just so broken. I call it Crutch Block for a reason.) Bloodmage Thalnos (Just an all around used Legendary in nearly every deck type. So good since it's cheap, gives spell damage, and draws a card.)
And lastly, we're gonna get more new events, as seen with the introduction of Wildfest. If Darkmoon Faire doesn't come in the form of an Adventure, it'll probably come as an event. It'll give everyone some free gold, come with some special Arena exclusive cards, and come with a Tavern Brawl to go with it.
Prediction for the next set: Equipment cards will be a new type of card. A legendary piece of equipment that replaces your hero power, gives you some armor and a passive ability for the rest of the game.

We already have that. It's called Hero cards. That was te whole theme of Frozen Throne.
Yes I know I had the wrong notepad file ... I have updated it with what I hope will be more accurate predictions as Feb 6th had passed but I started writing these notes while on vacation a few weeks back.
I think they like the three set year and will stick with it but I do think we will eventually see a shift that has them retire one set every time a new set is introduced. Possibly starting with the second or third set this year so as to always have 4 or 5 sets in the rotation. This would shape up the meta more than simply introducing more cards and help level out power creep a bit.
I like the idea of an "Alliance vs Horde" expansion but they have not yet tied any expansion in with an upcoming WoW expansion. But with a release date in Sept for WoW I could see the 3rd expansion this year being just that. I would love a Time based adventure or Darkmoon Faire.
I too expect Ice Block and possibly Gadgetzan Auctioneer heading into the hall of fame.

It was 15, you're really not confident about the date xD
Actually, my old notes file was different than my new notes file and I posted the 6th by accident ... I updated it to the 15th but it makes more sense to do that on a Monday so I further revised it to the 19. They honestly could just hold off on that until the set announcement date and kill two birds with one stone. Especially if the hall of fame cards will anger reddit then drowning out the announcement with an expansion announcement would be a good PR move.

Probably not, honestly. That would subtract from the overall outlook on the expansion.
I would like to see the new year called "Year of the DIre Wolf" in honor of the year of the dog but will more likely be "Year of the Fellhorn" or whatever the Warcraft name for unicorns is.
I'd love to see a "Great Seas" expansion come out something with more pirates, elementals, beasts, etc. I feel like it'd open up more avenues of Elemental Shaman/Mage, Beast Druid or return of Pirate Warrior, especially because a lot of important pirates are rotating out with WotG

I don't think we are going to see an "adventure" ever again. The past two expansions effectively had semi-adventures attached to them, which seems to be the way Blizz wants to move going forward.

I'm guessing we're going to get expansions based on Darkmoon Faire and the Emerald Dream/Nightmare at some point.
I don't think the next theme will be stratholm or Scholomance since we had icecrown just a while ago
