Sadly, this isn't a game for having fun (Because of people), the places for fun are rank 20-18, 15, 10, 5 and lower legend, these are the ranks that you can have more fun than others, casual can be really hard for newer players....
IRL card games are no different from HS in this respect. When folks go to the local store to play against a bunch of perfect strangers, no one brings their "crazy, fun" decks - those sorts of decks are reserved for screwing around with your friends. Casual mode in HS is a competitive mode - folks are competing for a star, and they are competing to complete their daily quest. It seems perfectly appropriate to play competitive decks in order to achieve those goals, and it seems pointless to bitch about it on social media. If the OP wanted his GF to have fun, and play crazy decks without getting shat upon in Casual, he could have played against her all afternoon, just like any IRL game . . .
Also perhaps she can have some fun with some of the Tavern Brawls (those that are less dependent on a collection).
I'd really like to see some new game modes that are more fun orientated particularly one in which your opponent cannot have a deck dust cost more than, say 30%, of yours. Unfortunately the cynical part of me thinks introducing less reason to buy packs is unlikely to get past management.
The new players experience in HS is really awfull at the moment, but it will get a bit better after next month when the change to Ladders will go live. I'm a bit disappointed that Team 5 didn't make any change to Casual in order to make it a real "casual" mode instead of an unranked Ladder where you find anyway just top tier decks.

For what profit is it to a man, if he gains the world and loses his own soul?
It's not just new player experience, casual is a very toxic place. It's just priests, healing their face when they are on 30 hp, emoting for entire turn and than when the rope is about to burn out they play. In all honesty it's better for her to play in ranked than casual, less Priest assholes and it's more likely for her to find someone with similiar decks on rank 22 than in casual.
The main problem is: people grind in casual with t1/aggro decks to farm the daily 100g from the wins. I am really surprised and frustrated that Blizz doent realize that and keeps it that way. With the current system only little amount of people will play fun decks, because you only get rewarded for winning. But recent expansions, nerfs, etc just show how little Team5 knows about their own game.
this is true people just do quests in casual with tier 1-2 decks
People playing tier 1 decks in casual and even casual wild need to neck themselves. "Deck testing" isn't an excuse
why?
becuase if are crafting a T1 deck and need CASUAL to learn you are a absolute loser of a person and player. If you can’t play a T1 deck at ranks 20-15, quit and find a new game. If you’re worried that much about stars, they must come far and few between.
Now, I understand what you mean, but instead of declaring to be deaf to explanations, because you think to be on the right side, you should try to understand what's going on, beyond the individual experience of your girlfriend.
The point is Casual is just Casual, obviously. It is NOT a training ground. It is purely RANDOM encounter with nothing to lose. Why should tier 1 decks disappear from there? They are entitled to play there just as anybody else.
Is it disappointing? CONCEDE: you have nothing to lose in Casual.
I repeat, Casual IS NOT the easy mode for newbies. It is a misconception of yours and of too many players.
---
That being said, with so many expensive cards and decks, Blizz should definitely work more on new players experience, which is undoubtedly sub-optimal, and make their entrance in the game more gradual and steady (possibly with a restricted Casual matchmaking against other newbies).
But all that has NOTHING to do with Casual players and the decks they play.

I didn't mean that and you know it. The expression was referring to people saying ''you're just salty, etc'', not to explanations. I agree they have to act on it.
The problem is Blizzard doesn't prevent anyone or any deck from entering Casual, there are no restrictions, which I find to be perfectly fair. What they should be doing instead is just remove the Gold and Quest Rewards from Casual, to make sure those assholes taking their crap like Pirate Warrior to Casual, have no incentive to do so, since they would be unable to grind Gold or Quest against Basic decks or things of that sort. But no, as it stands, there is no reason why those people should play Ranked instead since they get the same benefit playing Casual and they don't need to face their fears that are Ranked, realizing they are not as good as they should be when they face people that actually fight back (with the competitive decks people play in Ranked instead).
Exactly. Casual is NOT the competitive mode like someone said on here already. Rewards should be either removed or halved for casual to alleviate all this grinding/farming going on. I agree.

So you're implying casual mode is no different than ranked and you don't see the problem in that? I do play against her and she does do tavern brawls and solos. What you are saying though is ludicrous. Casual players are competing for a star? It's CASUAL, not RANKED. When people are farming gold and quests there, this should be changed.
So, new players get the shit on early ranks and when they try to have a good time in casual, they get shit on too. You think that's just fine for the new player experience? C'mon, you know it's not.
Very stupid advice: Since i have problem falling asleep i usually play hearthstone during the night, usually 1 to 3 am ( italian time ) and i always, both in ranked and casual, find people with strange and just non tier 1/2 decks. I don’t know why is this consistent or why it happens but try to find when you can have the same result.

Why are you a absolute loser of a person and a player, if you practice a deck before playing it on ladder?
If you never playede the deck before, I can’t see anything wrong with testing it in casual.
Blizzard made a game with a certain ruleset. Everybody playes within that ruleset, so if people playing good decks in casual makes you mad, you should perhaps turn it towards Blizzard in a constructive way.

Why in the world would you practice in casual? Practice the deck in ranked. There is no such thing as practicing a tier 1 deck in casual. You're not really doing anything.
Not buying what you are selling. Why don't you do everyone a favor and tell the whole story? My theory is you played the account for a while and built up the MMR to the point you face netdecks. If you are not a strong player with a strong deck, you simply don't face good opponents in casual and making 20 every month should be cake.

Because each star takes 10-20 minutes to earn with a control deck and I would not like throwing away an hour of games to learn how to play a deck.
