Plays Cubelock: counters everywhere. Switched to Even Paladin: counters everywhere. Kill me pls
Wish this was true.
Cubelock has almost no counters
I thought that but playing the deck right now I've changed my mind.
Based on HSReplay, the counters are Odd, Aggro and Secret Hunter, Spiteful Druid, Even, Tempo and Secret Mage, Combo and Control Priest, Odd and Quest Rogue. The problem is a few people are playing those decks so the consensus is Cubelock doesn't have counters but those decks are there to be played!
My salt for this evening is the wanker who just spammed emotes despite playing Cubelock with the weapon and with Rin, and only beat me because he managed to summon a Voidlord from that ridiculous new card that deals 2 damage and summons a random demon. Any other demon and he would have been dead but no, he gets that one.
What the fuck is wrong with Blizzard that they decide a card like that is a good idea when fucking Cubelock exists?!
ure crazy? Where tf is NEW card that deal 2 dmg and SUMMON random demon?
Edit: sorry it's actually from the classic set. I assumed it was from Witchwood because I had never seen it played before. Ever. Now I feel even worse about how lucky he got..
wtf with those people that have absolute perfect drafts and decks that feel like are constructed in arena?? seriously, i just had a match agains a mage who had an elemental to drop every fucking turn, and infinite cards to discover new spells... when i draft i get like one blizzard and one meteor and the rest of the deck is shitty minions
I played arena yesterday against a well-known streamer who just happened to have a near-perfect deck.
Not suspicious at all...
it's like wtf, every turn he has the perfect answer to everything you play, and manages to have a perfect synergy with all his cards... It's impossible, we try our best with the draft that we are given, and even when we manage to do a deck we think that's ok... we win a handful of token matches til we get easily destroyed by someone who happens to have a perfect build
How in the absolute fucking hell did Shuttercock make it through QA? I can't even stand to play ladder with decks I actually enjoy because of that cancer. What a shit show.
It made it through QA by having Brode be too blind to realize that it's a broken mess.
Taken from an interview
"Is there a card that you’re a little worried about that is going live? No one knows how the meta will shape out after your playtesting so does any card scare you?
It’s Shudderwock. I was watching somebody playtest on Friday of last week and he played Shudderwock and Saronite Chain Gang triggered then Grumble, World Shaker triggered so he put two Shudderwocks to his hand that cost one mana and his turn lasted four minutes with all the animations. It was like, “What have we done?” Is it too late to change this?”
I know! I saw that one, too. Can't wait to see what they do about it...
Interesting that Brode saw that interaction, wanted to change it, and the QA team explicitly told him no. I fully expect a change to the animation issue, as that's the fundamentally broken thing. OTKs exist, Blizz just make sure they're not oppressive - which shudderwock ain't going to be when the meta settles.
The only reason I think Shudderwock might be different (and apologies for using the salt thread to wax philosophical for a minute) is that the OTK combo doesn't require the player to hold cards in their hand. Traditional OTKs require the player to gather and not use certain cards - thus putting them at a disadvantage. Think of a Priest holding onto an Inner Fire that could get them out of a sticky early-game situation but knowing he needs it for his late-game wind condition. For Shudderwock, the player has no limitation. Play your battlecries whenever you want - you get the early game benefit and the late-game combo when you play Shudderwock.
We'll see what happens - I have a feeling we'll hear something w/in the next two weeks.
Seems like i´m getting fucking punsihed for playing ******** OddPaladin.
Out of 3 games today, i wasnt able to do anything but HP on T6 because i had double Stormwind + Baku in Hand
yeah, go fuck yourself rng
I am sorry if i say this but it's only your fault for picking stupid decks. Also,i dont understand how that deck can be a tier 1 when there are only control decks on rank 3+. Please accept my 2 cents, stop believing in meta sites and play decks that you enjoy.
Did anyone ever say i dont enjoy they deck?
Where are you playing that there are only controldecks rank3+? On EU there arent
Bad draw happens to every deck, no matter if T1 or T4
"Itsy my fault for playing stupid decks" So rng depends on the Tier of the deck now?
So next time keep your 2cents for yourself, especially when they are just total nonsense
I do not like that edgy attitude.I went to those conclusions because of what you wrote. YES,ON EU. from rank 2 to legend i only found cubes and taunt druids, probably one paladin and no hunters. Yes,its your fault to pick stupid and inconsistent decks such as odd paladin and then come here to cry. Again,i wrote that just because i felt your frustration through your words, are you sure are you enjoying odd paladin?i tried it once and i didnt like it.
Edgy attitude? I treat you the way you treat me. Deal with it.
Taunt druids? Maybe met two of them since the expansion came out. Spiteful Druid seems to be much more present imo.
Inconsistent? Have you checked ANY of the websites with overall winrates since Witchwood came out?
I come here to cry? I COME TO CRY TO THE SALTY THREAD? I MUST BE FUCKING CRAZY!!!!!
YOU come to the fucking salty thread and dont expect any frustration? Bro, i got bad news for you..
Losing to highrolls is the most oppressing feeling ever. When you dominate early game and lose just because your opponent got Tyrantus from that spiteful bullshit, a particle of my love for the game dies. I don't care about spiteful decks' winrate: ff Blizzard nerfs cards based on how oppressing their playstyle is, Spiteful Summoner must be nerfed into oblivion. Now that the old gods left standard, the power level of this card is simply absurd.
Even when I manage to encounter non-meta decks in casual mode, the players still spam thank yous and threatens. I wish I could understand this mentality, but it's just not meant to be.

Thank you! Spiteful Summoner is my most hated card right now. It's way worse at the moment than Barnes used to be in his heyday. The amount of times I had to face 4/4 + a 12/12 Tyrantus on turn 6 is crazy.... There is literally no counterplay to it... I mean even the worst outcome for a 10 drop is an 8/8. How is a 6 drop 4/4 that summons an 8/8 minion ever fair, let alone a 12/12, that can't be targeted? That's absolutely broken! I really hope Blizzard will nerf that card into oblivion...
Both Paladin and Warlocks need a nerf. The tools they have are stupid right now. Every class lost most of their OPness if not all. The thing is Blizzard focused too much on making Paladin aggro and Warlock control that they completely counter their flaws now. Warlock has too much healing and stupid taunts as well as a way to resummon them. Paladin has too much board presence, killed 5 minions? No problem, here have 5 more to deal with, you deal them? Ok, here, 5 more. And guess what, both classes are based around recruit. Yes, you have Odd Paladin who doesn't recruit but they generate so many tokens it can be regarded as recruit.
Paladin's Unidentified Maul turns their board from deal able to hahahaha you're so screwed. Aggro decks should exist, but not to the point of Undertaker Hunter, Pirate Warrior (or any Pirate deck once Patches got popular, and surprise surprise, the mechanic was RECRUIT!) and now Odd Paladin. Aggro should be manageable. With the lack of board clears across the game in Standard, minion based decks are bound to become popular, but it should be about intelligent trading, not "hurpdurp face ma army of 1/1s, some of them have divine shield and some have divine shield AND taunt".
Even Paladin is difficult too, but it can be handled if you clear their board, which is much easier then Odd Paladin. It's a midrange deck, so control obviously find it difficult to deal with.
Warlock's 6 mana combo is gain 8 HP summon a "5/7 charge minion" or "3/9 deahtrattle summon 3 1/3s". It's just stupid. Even if you silenceVoidlord and try to deal face damage to bring them down, they just play Cube and oh guess what, two more Voidlord. Next turn, spellstone. I cannot imagine people call Cubelock a skill based deck. Where is the skill? Its just as braindead as any aggro deck. The deck has literally no unique plays whatsoever. Every game is a repeat of the previous one. Giving dejavu a bad name.
Current decks are finding it hard to add new cards since the power level of old cards is beyond the roof. MSoG should have been a prime example of overpowered cards, but Blizzard never learns.
I have commented on their design philosophy many times. Their give 3-4 cards in an expansion to a class for a specific playstyle, along with some neutral cards. This spawns a deck. Then they add a couple more cards in the next set, making the deck stronger. Which is fine. The problem is they do this with ONLY a few classes. Paladins, Warlocks and Priests get this type of treatment. Rest of the classes get 2 cards max to design a archetype around them. Nothing next few expansions. Hunter, Warrior and Shaman are prime examples of them. Look at the kit of Hunters, Warriors and Shaman and tell me this is not true.
Blizzards has favorites. Nothing wrong with that. Sure some people enjoy designing one class more then others. Like I enjoy Hunter and Warrior more then other classes, sometimes Shaman and Priest. But this means you need to have a fair number of people who enjoy designing a class. Right now their team has a very very heavy bias towards some classes. They completely banned Spell Hunter after just one expansion. Deadman Hands Warrior? On the other hand, Priest got so much favor they were able to do ANYTHING before the rotation. Warlock has been extremely powerful for years and has now reached unmanageable levels, same with Paladin.
A meta should have at least 4-6 tier 1 decks. That is a healthy meta. When was the last time this happened? They just don't care. Sometimes players whining is unjustified, but stats do not lie. Decks having more then 60% winrate should be nerfed immediately. That's more then what Undertaker Hunter had and the class is still suffering from what happened more then 4 years ago. Other classes do it? No problem, players aren't skilled enough to find an answer.
Stupid design philosophy has been part of Hearthstone for a long long time. Its about time it should end.
Shudderwock don’t require you to hold cards, but requires you to play some really bad tempo cards that accomplish a whole lot of nothing - is better to play a 4 mana 3/3 that heals you for 3, than holding an inner fire, but still is a very weak play that puts you in great disadvantage. I think Shudderwock will only be meta viable if there is a faster version that don’t require you to sacrifice soo much tempo to make the combo work - similar to what Kripp is trying to do. I’m still very skeptical though...

arenaaa so unfair
Okay, let's try Miracle Rogue then. It seems a good deck for what I'm facing right now. Oh wait, here a bunch of counters for you.
Went from Rank 7 3* to Rank 9 3*. I'm done for today.
FUCKING FUCK CUNT HERO POWER CUNTARD
ONLY HERO POWER ODD CUNTARDS ON LADDER
24/7
THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME
I PREORDER THE EXPANSION AND GET SHIT FUCKING USELESS LEGENDARIES
FUCK YOU IF YOU PLAY ODD HUNTER
DIE
Seems impossible to win more than 1 game in a row, even more so than usual. Pretty shit.
Fucking Cubelock - you ruin the fun of a new expansion. No new cards...just same ol' boring cube shit. They need to nerf that 1 mana 8 health gain.
IMO they need to nerf more than 1 card from cubelock. If you nerf only 1 thing, the deck will still be king
