Having played another batch of matches over the last few days I can conclude that there are no longer any significant decisions to be made when playing this game.
In the past you had to really think about when you should use that brawl, or sheep or big game hunter. It was more often than not game deciding. Nowadays there are so many options when it comes to board clears, large minion removal etc that it doesn’t matter. And even if you do use a board clear, for example, there are loads of decks which can effectively fill the board within 1 or 2 turns. So it had no real impact.
There are also no decks that I’ve played which really require any thought. Highlander, quests, sub quests, handlock, control, tempo, they all pretty much play themselves. I either win comfortably or get steamrolled. I reckon you could probably just play the left most cards every turn in certain decks and still get a 50% win rate (I.e. face hunter).
The game just feels dumbed down. And whilst there are plenty classes and decks being played, they all feel very much the same. Its starting to feel like classic wow vs retail wow but in hearthstone.

I have been saying this for some time. They have removed thought and strategy from the game in order to attract new players. Veteran players pay for everything with gold/dust so there is no need to care about them. The goal is to make new players think that they are just naturally good at the game and keep them playing with the hope that they spend real money buying new cards.
Highlander decks. I enjoy playing them, and you're sacrificing consistency for them - which is why it's frustrating when someone plays a highlander deck and gets a non-highlander level start. Le sigh - just utter bullshit to get that lucky. Even more frustrating when they survive on 1 HP, after getting Holy Nova off of Zephrys (yeah, so they not only got a non-highlander start, but they also got the upside to running a Highlander deck).
Also, players who are unnecessarily slow - freaking awful. Had a warrior that roped while deciding to playing a Frightened Flunkey into a Flame Imp on his second turn (going first - so exact mana, exact damage for Flame Imp + card advantage). It's like... how was that even a choice? Then again, he seemed to misplay Awaken! (using his +3 attack to hit face instead of killing off a 2/2, and instead opting to use his second charge on Restless Mummy to kill it), so maybe he did need the whole turn to decide Flunky was the correct play.
MTG Arena's system probably isn't perfect either, but at least you accumulate time extensions (by having turns that don't hit the rope), and if you use them you don't get them back. So you can end up banking a few for a particularly tough turn, but you can't have too many long turns in a row as you'll have used up all your extensions. You also won't have accumulated any in the first couple of turns, so on those early turns where decision trees are much smaller you can't take excess time. Hearthstone gives a turn 1 player with 4 cards in hand as much time as a 10+ mana player with 10 cards in hand and a difficult board state.
Once again Blizzard has flat out admitted that the win rates are manipulated. From PC Gamer 8 hours ago:
Bug Fixes and Game Improvements:
Battlegrounds : Selfless Hero’s Deathrattle will now only affect minions that do not already have Divine Shield.
Arena : The appearance rate of cards in the draft has been updated to ensure class balance remains close to the ideal 50% win-rate. Specifically, the win-rate of Druid, Hunter, and Paladin should now be decreased. The win-rate of Priest, Rogue, Shaman and Warlock should now be increased. Card appearance rates for Mage and Warrior remain untouched.
You can Google PC Gamer Hearthstone Nerfs for the full article. The bottom line is what I have always said - there is nothing random about this game.
Almost all decks being played at the moment are aggro. This makes sense as the majority of these decks can win a match by turn 6 or 7 with the player literally playing whatever they have in their hand. I have tried to counter these with control decks but even then if they have a good starting hand it’s no contest.
The problem with the current batch of aggro decks is that they have so many options. You can slow them down to a degree but they will rapidly wear you down unless you have great card draw. Face hunter for example has its side quest and minions that damage when they die (I call this autoplay damage). But they also have a variety of supporting minions and spells to get the job done even if they don’t draw the autoplay damage.
The game favours these decks at the moment because silence isn’t really a thing and is usually too expensive (as is most AOE). This in turn favours new players to the game since these decks are also often the cheapest to assemble. I have finally tried face hunter and there is nothing to it. You just throw everything onto the board and if you have a mirror matchup it’s a coin toss. Games last a few minutes which therefore means less time grinding up the ladder. Great! But it is just so mundane and brainless.
Unfortunately the game has almost always been like this and it’s never going to change.
Cocksucker talentless druid thins his deck with a bunch of 0 mana spells and auctioneer, plays Ysera, Unleashed. Next turn, fucking Nozdormu, 2xKalecgos, Emeriss, Nozari, and Dragonqueen. So, that's 40/72 in stats on board for 0 mana that I've gotta clear.
HOWEVER... the fucking animation of all 7 of his Dream Portals took up MY entire turn thanks to Nozdormu, so as soon as his turn was over my rope was already burned down to 0 and I couldn't even play a turn. Thanks, broken ass Hearthstone interactions. FIX THIS SHIT!
Rigged as fuck matchmaking, can't even play my amazing deck at rank 2+ the only shit I dont wanna face is rogue and lock, GUESS WHAT. Everything else but these two class.
There's for sure something scanning your deck and it's not based on luck or MMR alone.
Oh look, the Sylvanas hero just vanished from the Blizzard shop without any of their "last chance!" announcements or similar on Twitter or even in-game. Guess I don't get to have a full hero collection anymore.
Easily Dominating and winning the games, that is until Opponent draws Leeroy (Priest spawning 5 Leeroy out of nowhere) or 0-mana Malygos (Roque) then getting cheated out by Burst dmg - feels familiar, looks like Meta is shifting back again into not-so-fun-territory.
Control hereby shall officially declared dead again (like it was never any good though) RIP
OTK combo bullshit is back, along with the usual Smorc Hunters and Galakrond Face Warrior, Zoo and the other Aggro Cancer.
Ladder is now 90% Rogues and Warriors. At least vs. Warriors you know what they're trying to do, as disgusting as the decks are. But against Rogue it is 50% RNG fiesta bullshit and 50% overpowered bullshit. I'm not sure which is worse.
Meta has become absolute shit. Nerfing Shaman into the ground was a huge mistake.
When is it going to be my turn for perfect draws, insane RNG, and absolutely disgusting openers? Because I'm sorta getting sick of my opponents having this kind of shit every single game. I'm here on the salty thread multiple times a day posting this shit, so clearly it's really a thing. I don't have "normal" games. I have this. 75% of my games are this right here. At least give me a fucking chance, Blizzard. Turn my MMR setting down please, Blizzard. Let me have E-Z mode, too.

You lost because you decided not to play town crier on turn 1 otherwise. That misplayed on the first turn gave the paladin the advantage with Brazen Zealot. Stopp crying for not having "the perfect hand", which you have but decided not to play it.

If you are playing pirate warrior in wild, I wish you death and I hope you will be ra*** while a group of real pirates is kidnapped by taking you on his ship, exposed naked while they put things in your *** and cut your tiny penis, that happens to the braindead.
By the way you can shoot a cannon through the hole.

After you go on a 14-1 run, Blizzard will give your opponents the top decks and RNG to beat you ten games in a row.
FeelsBadMan
I play meme control quest highlander priest. Get to play against skillful boys with Galakrond shaman decks at 18 rank. Blizzard, please.
Thanks again Blizz for that great expansion!
Thanks for the new balance patch that once again changed literally NOTHING so far.
Thanks for the BATTLEGROUND balance patch that does not resolve any problem and the attunements were just useless and dumb.
Still thanks for the great arena experience with the current rotation and all the shit dragon shenanigans.
Thank you for pushign the game once again to the playerbase with an two-digit IQ!
Fuck this dev team and their hard fuckup of this whole expansion.

Imagine if during the world series of poker one player made a royal flush on the river every hand.

Here are the numerous ways battlegrounds RNG can fuck you over
-Poor choice of starting hero
-Bad 1st turn minion
-No triple when needed
-Bad discover options
-Bad snipes
-Bad attack order
-Fighting the same top 4 opponents over and over
Why does it seem like all these 10k mmr streamers are always so fucking lucky?

Completely misses it
