UPDATE #1: Prior to the launch of today's patch, my Mean Streets of Gadgetzan collection had 15/20 legendaries from the set. I was missing Krul, Genzo, Knuckles, Beardo, and Patches; although it is also worth noting that I disenchanted my golden Raza as soon as I logged into Hearthstone today, which effectively put my collection at 14/20 legendaries. As a side note, a few days ago I purchased packs with gold until I hit my legendary pity timer until I received one, (Noggenfogger), so starting off today my Mean Streets pity timer was effectively 0.
After purchasing a 60 pack bundle of Gadgetzan packs moments ago: I received Genzo, a golden Knuckles, 2 copies of a golden Raza (from back to back packs amazingly enough), a regular copy of Raza, and 2 copies of Patches in that order; making sure to disenchant any copies of Raza and Patches as soon as I got them.
UPDATE #2: After opening another batch of 120 cards following the first 60 pack bundle, I received Krul, a golden Patches, 2 Razas, 2 Patches, a golden Raza, and a Beardo in that order; which now puts me at my targeted goal of 18/20 legendaries collected.
In the 180 Mean Streets Packs that I opened while having 14/20 legendaries collected and a pity timer set at 0, I was able to get 4 "boring" legendaries (one of which being golden), 4 golden copies of either Patches/Raza, and 7 normal copies of either Patches/Raza.
I actually messed up by accidentally mousing over minor parts of my collection while searching for "new" cards in the search bar so I can't tell for sure what I was actually missing from my collection in terms of golden cards and epics; although this is not such a big deal since my intention was to just hit the mass disenchant button anyways so that I can keep anything that is not a duplicate.
RESULTS: By keeping whatever I didn't already have, my current mass disenchanting value is at 9645. By disenchanting the 4 golden Patches/Raza, and 7 normal Patches/Raza, I was able to get 24000 dust. On average, I was able to get 189 dust per pack from only disenchanting Patches/Raza and duplicates. This average value would be much higher if I disenchanted every golden, epic, or legendary card that I had also gotten but decided to keep. This average value would also be slightly higher if I disenchanted normal copies of cards that I already have copies of in golden. Overall, I would estimate that the average pack that I opened during this session in the time of the nerf is worth ~240 dust per pack on the slightly higher end of the spectrum. More than double the average ~106 dusting value from any standard pack you get and way higher than the low ball ~119 dust average that I worked out originally as a testament to this method's potential.
I will no longer be buying more packs with money in the nearby future, even when a new expansion comes out because now I can just craft whatever I want and not feel bad about it because my original low-ball math calculations worked out way better than I expected (as expected) and because I made a wise decision that would bolster a stronger collection in the most effective way possible.
But of course, this is all just a conspiracy/scam so that you can throw your money at Blizzard on old and outdated card packs because math never works out or makes sense whenever someone else does it and you can't do it yourself. From the feedback that I have gotten below in the comment section over the past few days, I actually learned that the average pack you open at its absolute worst is worth 260 dust (40x4 from commons and 100x1 from the rare). Obviously I played myself because opening Patches/Raza over and over again so that you can disenchant it for their original crafting value is vastly inferior to opening 4 commons and a rare. 260>240 ez maths according to Hearthpwn.
VERDICT: You guys are the voice of reason and are right about everything. Now I'm broke and have absolutely nothing to show for it. My math sucks and is completely wrong; I'm the idiot here and totally screwed myself on this one guys kappa. /s
UPDATE #3: I bought some more packs, and in short lets just say that my numbers in my second update were slightly skewed and misguided. Starting off buying packs, I didn't have a full collection of all the Gadgetzan legendaries and opened 4 of them along the way. Although the majority of my legendaries pulled in my first batch of 180 packs opened were Patches/Raza, 4 of them were not; which actually makes a huge difference.
Also I want to bring to attention that while opening a golden version of Patches/Raza is also a big deal and albeit rare, when you're just going to disenchant it anyways, a golden version is only as good as 2 copies of a regular version. If you thought that my getting 4 golden Patches/Raza was a result of godlike pack rng, just imagine that I opened 8 Patches/Raza in their place; which is reasonable at any pace while using this method.
The first time around, I stopped opening packs once I had 18/20 of the non Patches/Raza legendaries. Using my own results, I would have to say that the average amount of dust per pack you get using this method while approaching 18/20 legendaries collected would be somewhere around 220-230 dust on average. When you do happen to get the 18/20 non Patches/Raza legendaries however, which is the point in which you will only ever open Patches/Raza from your packs (the condition that I originally forecasted), the disenchanting value of each pack beyond this point is somewhere around 270-280 dust on average. A little over 2.5x the ~106 dust disenchanting value of the average pack.
Cheers. This exploit can only be done within the next 2 weeks before the nerf settles and the disenchanting values return to normal.
In the entire history of Hearthstone (post beta), only 3 legendaries so far have been nerfed: Leeroy Jenkins, Yogg-Saron, and The Caverns Below. All of the mentioned cards were released and nerfed prior to the updated legendary system added last year in which starting with KotFT, once you open any one specific legendary card in a pack you will no longer be able to unpack it a second time resulting in a duplicate unless you already have one of every single legendary card from the expansion of the pack you are opening
With the upcoming patch, Patches and Raza will both be nerfed; however, the biggest impact these two cards will have will not be on the meta of the actual game, but rather on your card collection itself. Why? Because they are both legendary cards; but even more importantly, because they are both part of the Mean Streets of Gadgetzan expansion.
A common trick used nowadays by players that have a loaded collection and every single collectible legendary from a single expansion with the intention to open even more packs is to disenchant a regular version of a legendary in hopes of opening a golden version of it because you can just keep cycling back and forth between dusting a card, opening it again without fail, and continuing to do so until you get a golden copy. This is all possible due to the fact that you can now target specific legendaries to open once you already have all the legendaries, something you couldn't do before in the entire history of Hearthstone until KotFT came out.
Step 1: Obtain a full collection of Mean Streets of Gadgetzan (at least all of the legendaries if not 2 copies of every epic).
Step 2: Disenchant Patches and Raza during the nerf period in which dusting them will result in a full dust refund.
Step 3: Open Mean Streets of Gadgetzan Packs and continue to unpack both Patches and Raza.
Step 4: Repeat steps 2 and 3
Assuming at worst that every pack you open during this process you get 40 dust per pack with the exception of getting either Patches or Raza as your legendary every 20 packs on average in which you would receive 1620 dust, you're looking at a minimum average of 119 dust per pack at the absolute worst pack rng. Not factoring in the potential multiple rares, epics, golden cards, and even the reasonable frequency of possibly getting a golden Patches or Raza, you will be able get a ludicrous amount of dust through this process.
Obviously no exploit or opportunity like this has ever been seen before in Hearthstone, and obviously no other dust refund extravaganza for nerfed cards has ever been able to even come close to the potential of the upcoming nerfs; but what does this truly all mean?
Is it a wise choice to get a fully loaded Gadgetzan collection when the set is going to rotate out in less than 2 months? Absolutely not if you only play standard and think that you will get bored of these cards in wild, but here is the kick that is going to blow your mind. If you take this opportunity and go crazy opening Gadgetzan packs, you will never have to buy additional or new packs ever again beyond this period. Also worth mentioning that you will have 100% control over what cards you "open" in the future. Yes, this is 100% real and legit. Disenchanting nerfed cards has always been good in the sense that you could trade in this outdated card for another card of your choice of the same quality at a 1:1 value. Speaking of value, nothing has ever been more valuable than what is about to come. Say for example each time you open Patches or Raza during this time; it is the equivalent of receiving 4 epics or 1 legendary of your choice at a 1:1 exchange ratio when you eventually cash in on all of your dust in the nearby future.
It might not be so exciting to open Patches and Raza over and over again, but want to know what is? Knowing that you can control the rng of future packs that you're going to open by not opening them at all. If you take advantage of this exploit, you can use the fully refunded dust from the 2 Gadgetzan legendaries and essentially trade it in for all of the good stuff in future expansions. The best part? You will no longer open all the trash pack fillers and have to deal with completely useless epics and legendaries that are a package deal along with bad and natural pack opening rng. Even just getting Patches or Raza 6 or 7 times during this period will essentially guarantee you to receive all of the 10 or so meta defining epics and legendaries of the next expansion and completely ignore the rest of the set that won't see any play, with a ludicrous amount of dust to spare from the cards that are not these 2 legendaries.

Rumors are carried by haters, spread by fools, and accepted by idiots.
Yeah I initially thought of this too but if I get a 60-pack bundle of MSG packs and I get a bunch of duplicates (which every card will be, obviously), my ROI is significantly lower than just getting packs from a new set. When spending my money, I need to have a better return, but perhaps if you have enough gold, this might be worthwhile.
Despite this, anyone with a complete MSG set that is close to the pity timer should do this with gold up to the pity timer because then you can get either 1600 more dust or get Raza or Patches back for "free."
If I already had all the MsoG cards, I would probably buy a few bundles. But since I didn;t start until UnGoro, I am pretty weak on the older sets.
Only thing I plan on dusting are my Creepers. I have a feeling Raza will still be a thing in Wild, and Patches may find a home somewhere there as well. Bonemare will still be in most decks it was already in. Creeper is dead for anything but Shaman as far as I can tell.

I wanna glide down, over Mulholland I wanna write her, name in the sky I wanna free fall, out into nothin' Gonna leave this, world for awhile
Getting Patches or Raza is just as good as getting any other legendary of your choice. Without a doubt it is absolutely pointless to own a complete set of Gadgetzen, but that could be said about any expansion. With this method you can just get skip all of the pack filler and only receive the playable good cards.
Under no circumstance would you ever get "more" from opening packs from other expansions, and in fact you would get far, far less. When has opening more and more packs ever directly translated to a surefire way to get the cards you want? Sure at some point you will have 2 copies of every single common and rare card, but has rng ever been the preferred method of choice when obtaining the cards that you want? The answer to that is no because dust has always been the most integral part of getting all the good cards of a set.
Why risk opening a completely useless and unplayable legendary and cashing it in for 400 dust when you could cash in on Patches/Raza for 1600 dust; as said before you're basically just trading away one outdated legendary for a fresh and new one at a 1:1 ratio. You could just straight up exchange Patches or Raza for another legendary, 4 epics, or even 16 rares if you wanted to.
There is fault in this method though I must admit. Why have a full Mean Streets of Gadgetzan collection when you could have a full set of a different, new, and fresh expansion? Why get 23 Patches/Razas when you could just get all 23 legendaries of a new expansion in just the same way? This exploit as I call it is actually just a longcut into exchanging the fruits of Gadgetzan for the fruits of another expansion at a 1:1 ratio, but the beauty of it is that its actually a shortcut to just getting only the good stuff of an expansion.
Like I said, getting 6-7 Patches/Razas now should be more than good enough to get all of the meta-defining cards of the next expansion through crafting, whereas in a lot of cases you could buy the same amount of packs of another expansion and get a whole slew of unplayable trash legendaries. From my own personal experience opening ~300 packs during the launch of a new expansion, after a certain point early on you already have all the commons and rares and from then on you end up just dusting them at a 4:1 ratio, its miserable getting the same epics over and over again when you're still missing the most vital ones, and the most criminal thing about pack opening rng is all of the filler legendaries out there.

You're talking like there aren't any cards in sets except Legendaries. Why would I exchange Raza for 16 rares when I could buy 60 packs from a new set and get up to 60 new Rares?
edit: This "exploit" would be better used if the legendary is from the newest set, so that maybe you could complete your Epics from that set while you're at it. If you're getting nothing new its not worth it.
At a certain point when opening packs, every card you open is very likely to be a duplicate. Just think about it - at a certain point of every expansion you're just opening 5 cards in each pack and dusting it for 1/8, 1/5, or 1/4 of its crafting value. Doesn't matter which type of pack you open as most of the time you might as well just skip the entire pack opening process and claim your 40 dust without even wanting to bother with having to hit the disenchant button.
Are you truly better off just aimlessly and perhaps even hopelessly dumping all of your gold and cash buying packs from a new set instead of utilizing Patches and Raza as a shortcut to get exactly what you're missing?

Wow, this is one of the worst ideas I got offered in the last year how to spend my money. Just a close second to the nigerian prince who wants to gift me a big diamond if I just would pay for the delivery via western union. This is a money dump for a meager average 20 dust gain on a single pack. Why on earth would anyone who doesn't wipe his ass with money would consider this approach?
Okay, you could buy packs with gold. But then again, 119 dust compared to about the normal 100 dust average is a really bad investment. And if you already have all legendaries from MSoG, you likely have all the other stuff as well (maybe not all epics, but that doesn't matter). Better buy C&K to get all legendaries from this expansion.
And honestly: If someone has the money to do that stuff, he probably doesn't give shit about dust anyway.
I'm sure it would be very easy for Blizzard to only give you the full refund for whatever you have in your collection AT THE TIME OF INITIAL DUSTING. That way, if you have 7 Razas already, you get that much, but any additional ones you open, even during the 2 week window, doesn't count.

Nature is the Day. Man is the Sun. Woman is the Moon. The Stone is the Sky. The Art is the Way.
What else is new? What you’re describing is completely obvious for anyone with a bit of brain activity. You’ve just realized how a nerf works combined with the no-duplicate rule. I’m actually concerned some people seem to be discovering how the game works. Makes me think that a lot of people are not even close to maximizing their money/dust management.
I’ve been « farming » golden legendaries this way since the no-dupe rule, but I’m a whale, few people are stupid/addicted enough to spend hundreds of dollars in this game.
This “trick” is far from an exploit. More precisely, you’re the one being exploited by Blizzard, whatever you do.
edit: I may sound aggressive but it makes me sick that people are actually helping Blizzard milk money out of players with half-cooked misleading posts. I understand the joy of sharing the picture of your double-legendary pack, which happens close to never and will make people buy a few more, but this post is almost dangerous. I’m 4k deep into the game and I don’t wish it to anyone, in case you’re wondering why I’m taking it almost personally.
Its all good, but you can probably already imagine what kind of player/person I am and I could even relate to you in some level. I'm a huge Blizzard fanboy. As of today, I've had an active World of Warcraft subscription for a bit over 12 years now. I own every single expansion/DLC/cosmetic/hat/pet/mount/collector's edition/promotional event/game and pretty much whatever else you can think of when it comes to what Blizzard has to offer; with special mention to dropping a couple hundred bucks on hearthstone packs every expansion. Between digital content and all the paraphernalia I've purchased, I've spent well over 10k in blizzard products over the past decade.
A simple WoW subscription was all I ever wanted in life growing up and was the only thing I ever asked my parents for, and I must admit that over the past decade it has almost entirely shaped who I am as a person today. One period of time during high school however, I perhaps hit a jackpot when it came to the playing the game. The official WoW TCG was in the stages of getting discontinued and thus Blizzard's up and coming brainchild project Hearthstone was in the works. Not too interested at first, I only saw Hearthstone as a means to get my hands on some of the TCG in-game loot for myself before they were going to be discontinued.
Long story short, there is a pet in World of Warcraft called the Viscous Horror which at the time was sought out to be the most expensive item in the game. I happened to get my hands on 2 of these pets out of sheer luck within the span of a single week. I then sold each of these pets for $400 through paypal. My friend then gave me his Hearthstone beta key and I was able to sell my own for $300 through paypal. I went on to use this money to get good deals on some of the TCG loot, server hopped with these pets and mounts in order to flip them for even more paypal cash and/or gold which I also sold for paypal money or b.net balance. Between buying mounts and pets for cheap, flipping them on a different server, and investing in more and more expensive items, within the span of a few months I had 6k USD in my paypal account up from essentially nothing while still having a large inventory. Whatever money I earned during these few months would soon go back into buying Blizzard products anyways as I dumped it all into b.net balance.
My b.net balance is still loaded as of today and still all of the rare TCG pets and mounts in my inventory serve as an investment and only grow more valuable every day due to in-game inflation; and as of recently with the implementation of the WoW token and the streamlining of b.net balance across all Blizzard games, whatever digital Blizzard product I buy never comes out of my own pocket. I can't even remember the last time I saw a charge show up for my WoW subscription.
One thing led to another and somehow my quest to obtain some of the most expensive pets and mounts in WoW eventually translated into a quest to obtain some of the coolest golden cards in Hearthstone once the game came out. In a sense, the discontinuation of the WoW TCG may have been the most influential thing that has happened to me. I gave the bare minimum to Blizzard when I was a child, and through Hearthstone in a weird sense Blizzard was able to indirectly give me more than I could ever imagine, whether the coolest items in WoW, Blizzard swag, or even valuable life lessons and experiences it only felt right to become their fanboy and give everything I have received back into their games in order to support them.
You seem like a decent person to share my success story with, but getting back on track it was never my intention to sell myself out to Blizzard and I truly tried to make this post as informative and accurate as possible. I was honestly just getting sick of opening 80% trash in all of the packs I open and found that this was the best way for me to just get the meat of a new Hearthstone expansion, however slowly over time as a result of an investment

I wanna free fall, out into nothin'
Gonna leave this, world for awhile

Yeah, this could be useful for those who have all the legendaries from gadgetzan
Yes, you right, I am going to report this "ENORMOUS dust exploit" to Blizzard to prevent someone from abusing it.
Oh, wait... :P
EDIT: When I read the title of this topic I think:
How, someone discover a bug for disenchant some card and the card keep in your collection or something like that...
This has got to be a troll trying to target people who are bad at math.
I'm sure it would be very easy for Blizzard to only give you the full refund for whatever you have in your collection AT THE TIME OF INITIAL DUSTING. That way, if you have 7 Razas already, you get that much, but any additional ones you open, even during the 2 week window, doesn't count.
