I know, I know another thread complaining about the nerfs, but I really want to point out that Blizzard is doing the same thing they did last expansion. They nerf all decks, except the second best one. Last expansion Highlander stood below Jade until everything besides Highlander got nerfed and we all know what Highlanderpriest became after that. And now, Everything gets nerfed except for Cubelock, again the second best deck and interestingly another Deck that came out of nowhere backed up by broken support. It also does not lose any cards this rotation besides Misstress of Mixtures .
I hate painting the devil on the wall, but there might be a very bad format coming.
Is there anything I'm missing? Can someone calm me down and confirm that we are not getting another Tier 0 format?
I highly suspect that that the reason they didn't nerf cubelock is because they plan to rotate Doomguard to the HoF in April. This would be the best change imo.
To be fair, cubelock took a while to discover and hasn't really been stirring things up all that long compared Raza or Patches. They probably couldn't develop a response that was acceptable to the cubelock's rise in popularity.
FYI, it's not as simple as getting rid of doomguard, as some cubelocks are running mountain giants now.

Look at this thing and let me know what you think!
Unlike highlander priest. Cube lock does have counters such as silence and ooze. If their weapon is destroy they have no good way to play Doomguard from hand without risk losing their combo pieces.
So I predict the meta where every deck has spell breakers and ooze if cube lock does become a thing.

They could have nerfed Defile or something like that. I mean, that card is broken anyway and would force them to fear aggro more so they can't counter aggro and control.

Possible, but helfire was already solving that problem beforehand. Nerfing deflile also limits other warlock decks which is a bit harder to accept.
I don't think it would change much either way though tbh. I think they just need to reduce the # of minions summoned on cube's deathrattle, as that's where the problem tends to go super sayan.

But that would destroy the idea behind the cube, maybe increase its cost instead?
It's just Blizzards way of getting the community to get their minds off of agro as the new year and in turn new play styles change. We can see this with major support for Spell hunter and Control warlock, trying to water down the "stereotype" of face hunter and zoolock. Defiantly a harsh way to put down agro, but may mark a ushering in of a new control meta. Or maybe I'm simply over reading it.

Chaos is a latter.... but the Hearthstone latter IS chaos.
I don't think they NEEDED to nerf anything. The game has a way of balancing itself out over time when new sets rotate in, others rotate to Wild, or people get tired of playing the same decks.
I don't mind teching silence and ooze. Hell, if Jade Druid regains some footing, even Skulking Geist has some utility in this matchup to deal with Dark Pact.
It's a really strong deck, but I'll reserve judgment until I see what pops up in the void left by Razakus.

This. We still are gonna get 2 months of cubelock but hey, you can't have everything. If you think about the reasons they rotated out power overwhelming they perfectly mirror what would be the reasons for hall of faming doomguard now.

I was hoping for a nerf on posessed lackey +1 mana
Cubelock/Control Warlock will lose N'Zoth, the Corruptor which will make the deck a lot weaker. Even now, Spiteful Priest has enough power to deal with Warlock and potentially go fatigue, and that will become even more visible when Warlock loses its second board refill, and of course the 8-16 health from Mistress of Mixtures also makes a difference. If Doomguard does get rotated to HoF, we will see a totally balanced meta imo, and we haven't seen what the new expansion brings yet.

Cubelock isn't necessary with razakus out of the meta. Controllock will just stomp the remaining decks, doesn't need cubes or doomguard.
