Hi I'm hitting 5 quit regularly. For this month I want to try and get legend for the first time finally.
I'm currently at rank 7 full stars. Playing tempo mage and token druid depending on what the meta looks like on the day. Felt like a breeze to get there so far. But I'm full time working with a kid also.
So is it really horrible from 5 to legend?
Given I'll hopefully have like 20 days to get there if I hit 5 within the next few days.
Yo! So before anything else if you ever got rank 3 or above you have the skill and knowledge to get to legend. It's relatively early in the month so if you get rank 5 at around day 10 you should be okay on your way up. On the difficulty comparison I would say 5 to legend is about 130-150% the work of 25 to 5. And lastly for my tips: music :D on a serious note choose your deck/1-2 decks and stick to then. The major mistake I did when trying for legend was reconsidering my whole life after 1 defeat, don't do that. Stick to the lists you are most confortable with and start playing those games! Good luck and come visit this thread after the month is over to tell us the result, good luck!
As said earlier, if you are able to make it to rank 3 (not 4 since it's pretty easy with the rank 5 playtesters), you should be able to reach Legend eventually. Be prepared for a huge grind though, it usually takes me more time to 5=>L than it takes to 15=>5. The players out there are really good and you have no more win streak bonus (which makes a huge difference). It's often easy to get tilted when you play a whole day to get from 3 to 1 and you fall back to 3 in 40min of fast defeats. If you have, at any time, the feeling that "the game is against you" (for example, when you seem to always get bad matchups, poor draws...), quit playing as soon as possible. I am not sure that the game is really rigged as some may think but, if you are experiencing such a feeling, you are not in a good state of mind.
With a cold mind, high performing meta decks, enough skill and a lot of patience, you'll finally make it. Good luck !
Couldn't leave it like that and got the rank 5 after a few more games :) Every game i do from now on will be between 5 and legened, feels good. :)
I made it to rank 2 once. Back then i had hit 5 at around 25th and kept going a bit but without real intention. Since I didn't really had the time and seeing how a loosing streak brought me back to 3 an evenning before next season i didn't got legend back then.
Yeah the difference between a rank 5 player and a low legend player is literally just the time, the skill level is basically the same but the legend player played a disgusting amount of games in comparison so yeah just prepare for the grind but you really shouldn't have problems regarding the skill level.
From 5 to legend takes about 30 hours total with a 55% winrate. Usually it takes me around 7 to 8 hours total to hit legend, and I have around a 60-70% winrate with an average game time of 8 mins. If you spread out your games over the month, the grind doesn’t feel like a grind. Playing decks like cubelock or keleseth rogue are much more efficient than playing tempo mage and token druid, especially with their winrates. If you aren’t already, it’s really helpful to use a deck tracker, too.

7.5 hours - 65% winrate O.o. Which decks are you playing? Isn't Cubelock a very slow deck to grind? Wouldn't be Aggro Pally the best way to go?
I think if you're good enough to get to 5 you're good enough to get to legend. One piece of advice is don't be afraid to tech something into a deck. I played hunter from 5 to legend last season and i ran one copy of ooze in it. While I don't necessarily think it's optimal it won me some games vs cube lock on the spot. But if you're willing to put the time in I'm sure you can do it <3
Getting to r5 is really just half way there. I was in the same situation as you before...getting to r5 every season and decided to go the card back and hit legend at least one time.
The first time i tried was post the nerf of the classic class cards(innervate, war axe etc) and I was already at 5 midway through the season and I chose to play hunter and went from r5 to r2 with a very good winrate. Then the next day hunter doesn't work at all as the meta was adjusting so fast and r2 was the highest I got for that season.
Then next season I play Tempo rogue and was doing really well and got to r1 5 stars...final boss game I faced someone in the 2000 legend range vs a priest. My hand was bonemare, bonemare and patches after the mulligan. The priest was running a murloc deck(WTF) but I lost the game because I couldn't do much of anything. At that point my hand was really ugly and was winning one then lose the next two kind of deal and ended the season at r3.
Next season...got to r5...but couldn't really find a deck working consistently...I chose one deck and then 2 of 3 games i get matched against my counter deck. ended season around r3 as well.
Next season...got to r5 about midway through the season as usual playing zoolock..this time instead of grinding really hard...i just play casually (an hourish each night at most) on the last week of season I got to legend. It took a lot of luck to be honest..I still remember my last 5-6 games, I would always get my 1 drop with prince few times on the opening hand....then my opponent does not play a wild growth on turn 2(miracle)....and my priest opponent doesn't play dragonfire on turn 6....my big priest opponent dosen't get barnes on turn 4.......mirror match opponent does NOT play bonemare on turn 7...it was like the game wants me to hit legend this season. ANd this is the season where I played the least amount of games.
So just to summarize for you, getting to r5 is just half way...you need to know the meta and the meta keeps changing and you also need lots of luck. Good luck.
I think I can't do it actually. It's the 13th now and I'm loosing hope. I haven't had much time to play.. mostly an hour a day and I have been constantly bouncing beetween 5 and 4 full stars for days. I don't know wether I'm just not good enough or wether I'm just really unlucky but the more often I fall back to 5 the more I believe it's plainly impossible for me
well ... if you have a win rate of 60% (quite impossible at this level) it takes you, in average 5 games to get a star (3 win / 2 losses), so with 125 matches you can achieve the L level
But with a more realistic, at this levels, 51% win rate you need 100 games to get two stars (51 win / 49 losses) ... so to get the 25 stars needed you need to play more than 1200 games ...
As several people says, providding that you are a decent players with a tier 1 deck you can reach Legend, providing you play enough ...
And now from rank 1 to 4 again might even hit 5..how can that happen? It's just so soulcrushing..and I really really don't want to see another priest at that point.
I'll keep on pushing but I won't be surprised if I don't make it.
I'm sure you can. Just takes time and willingness to grind. I am sure you have both! :)

Don’t give up! There is still plenty of time. You went from 5 to 1 in a day and you can do it again

Thanks for all the tipps : ) I'll definetly keep you updated on wether i make it or not.
Could have been five already today, but failed at the battle to five twice and went to 6 4 stars again, that concludes it for todays laddering.

you reached rank 5 in no time so it's totally doable, but prepare to die a little inside after every match on your grind to legend

Ok just one Day later I somehow managed to get to rank 1 for the first time. Got thrown back to 2 but now I'm pretty sure it is possible somehow
