In terms on Wild, is he an autoinclude? It’s a lot of dust, so I’d like to know what the community thinks.
What kinds of decks (archetypes) dies he fit best in? I have a Mech Mage, but it seems to be alright without him. I do notice a ton of Wild decks have him, so is he a safe craft?
Ragnaros havent been played a lot when he existed with Dr.Boom in a same format. So basically yes, Dr. Boom is safe craft and you can jam him in any Midrange or Control Deck. Even some greedy Zoolocks are running him
No, he's not played much. Very few aggressive decks have space for him and Bonemares and Creepers, and no slow deck needs a standalone late game card with all the synergies available.
Bonemare is just better than Dr Boom generally. If you really want to craft wild legendaries, I'd recommend Ragnaros or Sylvanas for control and big decks. There's no good tempo or aggro legendaries (being a legendary meant being a big fat threat back in the good old days). If you're interested in controlock, I'd highly recommend Ma'Ganis since he's insane with the new cards
Since you're playing mech mage, I should mention that the new card Aluneth might find a home in any old tempo mages
Dr boom only works on majordomo quest priest w/o nzoth (anti synergy) as a jump on the quest, it is waaaay to standalone for any other deck... Bonemare is strictly better in the 7 mana slot as a 9/9.
Sometimes you can use dr boom as an aoe bite to make your other threats safe.
It was auto-include during the past but today there are indeed better drops for 7 mana, the power level of the new cards is far higher than what it used to be during GvG. So no, don't craft it: it will probably just be a waste of dust.

For what profit is it to a man, if he gains the world and loses his own soul?
I would disagree a bit and say that it is powerful just not versatile. It dosen’t affect the board the same way Sylvanas would for example. My opinion though and I say you shouldn’t craft him.

I am not a Mage player, just thought my avatar would go with my name.

Dr Boom was terrifying back in his day, but probably not so much now - and certainly not a must-have / mustcraft. (I still don't even have him - never needed him) That said, if you have all the curernt standard legos that you want / need and have some dust to spare, he's certainly not the worst choice. Though I would pick some others over him - Queen Sylvanas or Ragnaros maybe. Blood mage Thalnos is important. Stuff like that. He's interesting to play with, but definitely too slow in the current meta - as others have said.
Dr boom does not have a specific synergy which make it loses its position eventually. Also, mid-range deck is not as good as before and tends to shift more to the aggro side. Similar things happen on Ragnaros also
I disagree about Bonemare, he is better only if you have some board and absolutely need the 4/4 taunt element which is not always. In other situations Boom creates a hard to handle board with the ro boom deathrattle. Decks like token or secret paladin are pretty good with Boom as well as the tempo / secret mage where you often got your board cleaned.
Playing only Wild since formats appeared, I slowly took Dr. Boom out of my deck for more synergistic cards (like The Curator, DKs ...) / Bonemares.
I'm still trying to include him in some of my decks (the Midrange ones), because I have him golden and he now has become unexpected (and he's still awkward to deal with, especially with Big Game Hunter out of the game).
i ended up buying 10 packs of GvG since I wanted the guaranteed legendary and got Foe Reaper 4000 which is obviously not as good but it fits my Mech Mage so I’m happy. I have a golden legendary that is awful so when the new expansion hits I’ll use that to craft a legendary or series of epics and rares to build a nice Standard deck.

That's like saying Ice Rager is only better than Magma Rager if you absolutely need that extra health. Bonemare creates a board that's even harder to handle by the opponent, and gives instant damage unlike the BBots. In aggressive decks there's always a target for Bonemare unless you're already losing, and control would run neither.
He used to be, but in all honesty he is only sits at 'decent' status now. In control match-ups Boom has little impact since the boombot damage does nothing to decks that run Gul'Dan, N'Zoth, or Kazakus Rez potions. In fact, Dr. Boom has negative synergy with N'Zoth because boombots dilute your deathrattle pool and provide very little value if one, or even two, of them are rezzed when compared to almost any other popular deathrattle minion out there.
You would be perfectly fine not crafting him for wild.
Useless in Contrl matchup yeah but still very good in grind out or finish Midrange/aggro deck. I wish we have something similar to Dr.Boom raw power in the 7 mana slot in future expansions.

Used to be auto included, but now like auto exclude. To see that how far the game have gone in the past 3 year( in the wrong direction lol)
Wild is crawling with Aggro right now, Dr. Boom is pretty slow for handling it.
Still a good card, this Isn't the last we've seen of him, but this is not his meta.

He hasn't been viable for half a year or more.
He's an autoinclude only in Quest Priest, but is playable almost everywhere from aggro to control, most in midrange. My examples:
I can update them for you ;)
Thanks for the advice.
