increasing the cost of the game BIGTIME. So i was put into the position where i HAD to give blizzard a METRIC SHIT TON OF MONEY, to gain access to card's I used to have by just playing arena alot.
What do you mean by that? What's a "metric shit ton of money" to you?.
3 expansions a year is $150 (+gold) in packs. Divide that between 12 months, and you get $12.5/month. How many hours do you need to get 12.5 bucks? Less than 2 ($7.25 is the minimum wage), so for getting $150 (for the whole year) you need 21 hrs of work, or less than 4 days if you work 6hrs' shift.
I don't know how your brain works (if you have any), but don't be a parasite, get a job, buy whatever you want, and stop whining!!!
You'll feel better on Standard reset day. Old Gods and Un'Goro both represented the best metas we've seen which occurred not coincidentally right after a reset. Adding more expansions is the major issue. Blizzard isn't creative enough with their cards to merit adding a third expansion and the adventures represented a way for f2p players to get their hands on some meta-defining legendaries (700 gold per wing).
I run a f2p account alongside my main and it can keep up and craft most of the relevant legendaries/epics to keep up with the meta (and also the fun ones like Yogg, Y'Sharaaj, etc.). You MUST maximize gold output from your quests and track your legendary pity timers though!
Me, and most of my friends are F2P, and I've actually never heard of eachother that the game is for P2W players etc. I started right before Old Gods. I completed every quest everyday so I could buy the packs I wanted. I knew I didn't had the money to buy more packs but I kept playing. I've never really been pushed to buy a pack because of what it feels. And today, I'm still a F2P player that didn't spend a single € on the game and I've everything I want. I've around 30+ legendaries, almost all the important Classic cards, and have most of the top tier meta decks at the moment.
So what did it cost? Playing daily and getting gold to buy packs. If you put a little bit of your time in the game everyday, someday you'll get to the point that doesn't make you feel F2P anymore, nor P2W, but a P4F (Play for fun) player :)
You are done with Hearthstone, but are you done with Hearthpwn?

I agree on the whole case about how more than 18 deckslots would confuse players. Why do Blizzard need to control this? Why not let the players decide on how many deckslots they can handle?
I'm F2P and not doing Arena and still keeping up with the cards.
Are you re-rolling 40 gold quest? Dusting your unneeded gold cards? Dusting your non-standard cards? Being realistic about which cards you craft? (that rank 5 reward is a pretty sweet payoff if you can get it also. Hitting it every month is equivalent to a free Legendary every expansion.)
I will give you this... This latest expansion in particular was very expensive. Just tons of legendaries and Epics that I WANT. But, as of now I really have all the cards I need. No must-craft stuff left for me now. And now I'm working on saving up for the next expansion. This is really the life of the F2P player. You scrimp, and save, and earn, and spend wisely. And in the end you find you may not have every card you want, but you have what you need.
The problem of this expansion from a f2p point of view is that there are many legendaries that see 0 play and there are a ton of epics that are core to meta decks. Look koft, almost every legendary was a joy to open (and i still managed to open a moorabi, feelsbadman), pretty much the same with un'goro.

Adjust your expectations and play smarter.
You're absolutly right, but my question here will be: in a GAME why can't you have what you want along side with what you may need to be decently competitive? If being competitive means to dump what you want to have fun, probably the design idea behind HS is not so right.

So true, love your post. I cant try fun decks, because if i do, i lose all my dust for competitive decks, so you have to choose

Any collectible card came will put you with this decision. Sometimes the most fun decks are fun because they are top tier, but they are a blast to play and fulfilling when it goes right.
And if you want to climb to legend it's extremely easy to do some research and put together a cheap deck if you focus your investment on that one deck. People's complaints are they can't play ALL the competitive decks which is just a silly thing to complain about if you F2P. I put up 20 bucks an expansion in general because I like the game enough to invest in it's continuous but it's not needed to succeed or to have fun.

...they don't just fall from the sky, so this notion that you should be given everything for free as much as you want or need is a pure fantasy of what I assume is kids playing this game that have no idea how the world outside works. Obviously once you leave your parents houses and realize that life has costs that you can't really avoid, it might be easier for you to understand.
I can summarize what the topic creator is saying in one sentence .
I’m quitting because Hearthstone is now too expensive to play.
The rest are minor reasons.
I agree. It’s on the way to luxury game now.
Not true, i was f2p since begining and the game got more expensive, and i was willing to pay, and i paid, and i realized that i need to pay around 100 more dollars just to get MOST of the cards that i want, after I already paid 60 bucks. that is my problem, and the other side of minor reasons? those are not minor reasons, i read alot of good post's here, epic are way 2 good now, but hard 2 get, on the other hand Legendarys are or garbage, or you NEED them, making collecting them a pain, and in general the game is dumbed down to a single overpowered card or combo that you base your deck around, tempo rogue with prince, jades, highlander priest. That kills off creativity. And beside that, card design has become worse. I am not asking to get something for free, BUT, it used to be worth it to invest time and money into this game to get cards, and it no longer is, and arena got worse as well.
You're absolutly right, but my question here will be: in a GAME why can't you have what you want along side with what you may need to be decently competitive? If being competitive means to dump what you want to have fun, probably the design idea behind HS is not so right.
If you want to be able to have all that you want and what you need, you need to wake up to the real world and understand that it will cost you some effort. Either time or money. This is a product that is available for free but that actually has a cost to be made and it charges people for it. Not paying anything for this game and expecting to be handed everything for free without effort is honestly idiotic, that doesn't happen anywhere.
If you don't spend money on food, you can still get some free meals at homeless shelters and so on, but you don't get to eat all you want and need, you get what you can get. If you don't want to spend money on clothes, the same happens.
I don't know why you expect things to be any different in Hearthstone. You have a team of developers working daily to create content for the game aswell as tune it constantly, and that means resources are being spent on making the game for us to play it, just like resources are spend on creating food supplies or clothing or anything else, they don't just fall from the sky, so this notion that you should be given everything for free as much as you want or need is a pure fantasy of what I assume is kids playing this game that have no idea how the world outside works. Obviously once you leave your parents houses and realize that life has costs that you can't really avoid, it might be easier for you to understand.
You completly missed the point, but don't worry I'm sure that in your real world everything is fine, man. Also is always nice when people on the internet pull out a "get-a-life" argument as final stand in a post on a forum: it remind me that kids are still around thinking that they've got the Absolut Truth in their hands, until they hit the real world :)
Back on topic: what I was saying is that of course you have to work to get something if you're a F2P player but the resource you may get optimizing what you have are often not even enough to get both what you want and what you need. I agree with you that you don't have to get absolutly everything even if you work it out because Blizzard is a company and so they make content to earn money, but afterall HS it is still a GAME so it's primarly mean to produce FUN to the players. The point I was trying to make is that probably Team 5 may think of a bit more generous system that will give F2P players a bit more space to enjoy Hearthstone without having to choose if being "competitive" instead of having "fun".

Honestly I guess the thing that would make Hearthstone playable again is 6 expansions a year, but in a small order and not with 135 cards. Like make 6 expansions and add 50 cards in each expansion, stop creating „filler“ cards and we‘re good. Duel Links does this great (hell there are even way too many cards getting released every time) but 2 months between expansions with 50 cards (5 legendaries, 10 epics, 15 rares, 20 commons) is what is enough for us. You don‘t even have to create different mechanics, just go on with 2 expansions for 1 theme and it‘s still gonna be pretty much the same. You could still add pre purchases (even double it), increase the droprate for legendaries slightly to make them true legendary, still do rotations every 2 years (since you could actually nerf cards way better with a minor pool).
I mean I don‘t care I stopped playing Hurtstone for 6 months now and just tune in from time to time to see the rant on this game :P

So, nerfing Fiery War Axe to 3 mana made it unplayable garbage, but Eaglehorn Bow is almost an autoinclude in Hunter even when not running Secrets?
